LIFE
Posted by sweetpsalms on 2012-05-19 09:58:33
I am a 39 year old with 3 children and a disabled husband. I have a lot of issues right now that I am trying to deal with and keep my family off the streets. I don't mind sharing my story if need be because honesty is the best policy. My husbands SSI is very low, as if he has not really worked and he is over 50. I have been trying to keep my head up and keep my bills paid. I work but my job is a PRN position because it was all I could get. I was making a fairly good pay until they decided our department needed cut backs and cut our hourly pay almost three dollars. I am trying so hard to finish school to be a LPN and then a RN. I have been trying to finish school since 1992. I know that if I can get my degree, I can provide for my family. So, I have bills up my butt and school is hard. Now, I am dealing with losing my financial aid because though I have a high enough GPA, my other cumulative average is below standard. I knew nothing about that. I was focusing on making sure my grades were good enough. My 14 year old daughter is pregnant and I can't even afford to begin buying baby things or think of how to save for it. My husband is so content with his little check until nothing else matters. My oldest daughter is in college with me trying to get her LPN but her hearts desire is to be an OB/GYN but they changed the required score level for the SAT and ACT and she registered one quarter to late to get in. Had she registered earlier, she could have gotten in the school she wants to attend but now she has to go to a local college and earn credits and then transfer, IF her grades are good enough. ON top of all that, my husband was just hit in the rear by another driver and our car was totaled and he was hurt. So, my only car, of which I was paying on still, is gone and I owe to much on it for the insurance to pay it off.
I feel overwhelmed, depressed and like I will never make it. I am working, attending school, and trying to write a book and do a gospel CD. Anything to try and bring in money to support my family. I really don't know what else to do.
I don't know if this works or not, but I am willing to try. I have felt so bad until at times I wanted to just end it all but I know that is not the example I want for my children. I want to see my grand daughter born and I want my children to finish school and do better than me, but also see me come out of my struggle. I keep telling them I am going to buy the house we live in, they keep laughing and even with that, the land lord is talking about putting it on the market because I can't come up with what I need to even start buying. I pray that God blesses my household and family. If someone does decide that my issues are worth helping, then I pray God bless you with an overflow for your blessing me. I don't know what else to say but thank you in advance. As embarrassed as I am, I can only pray this is real. If not, at least I got to vent and get it all of my chest. I had no one else to tell anyway.
Thank You!
medical bills have wiped out my $, dog and i will soon be homeless

once i was off the anti-rejection meds and feeling well enough to work, i began searching for a job seeing as my hope of starting a business drained away with the money in my bank account. but unfortunately, with the economy the way it is, i have been unsuccessful in my search. i am now virtually penniless and am being evicted from my apartment. i am have sold off what few possessions i have in order to have some cash to buy the things i need for living on the streets, but the accumulated amount came to less than $100.
monetary donations via paypal are more than welcome,
i have also created a wish list at amazon.com for certain things that will be very helpful for me to have while i am homeless, but which i can not in anyway afford.
http://amzn.com/w/298Q89SP8GLCZ
i have left comments next to each item to explain why i feel the need for it. e-giftcards from amazon would also be helpful.
Endurance paddle planned Charitable feat could wind up in record books
Posted by kieubanks on 2012-04-02 21:58:06
For kayaker Steven Banks, it is going to be more about physical as well as mental endurance rather than simply covering a set distance around Marco, Goodland and Cape Romano.
Banks, owner of Dreamlander Tours, on April 20 will set out on a 24-mile round trip he estimates will take about 24 hours, including a night stop on the water in the vicinity of Cape Romano when he will be on his own without a back-up team.
He is attempting the feat to raise money for three of his pet charities, the Impact community outreach ministry overseen by local pastor Ben Sprankle; a Malawi, Africa, charitable medical clinic called Partners in Hope; and a Cuaravac, Mexico, mother who is blind and has an epileptic son.
A poignant Marco Island connection is that another of her sons, Benito, worked on the island, raised a family, but died in 2011 from meningitis following a mosquito bite.
Banks had befriended Benito.
âBefore he passed, he asked to make sure his mother and brother were taken care of,â Banks said.
A trip to Mexico to meet them prompted Banks to do everything he can for them, and his goal is to have them come to the United States for treatment.
Banks has called his fundraising paddle Kayak Marco 24.
It will consist of the 24-hour paddle that may incur inclement weather and unpredictable winds, put him at risk during the Cape Romano solo stop, and put strain on his body because of being out on the water for such an extended time.
But he is not too worried about that aspect.
As a hands-on guide, he paddles up to five or six hours at least three times a week, so has plenty of residual paddling fitness.
Still, he said, the length of time he will spend out on the water represents an unpredictable challenge, so he is avoiding any kind of complacency.
Banksâ route is not a fixed affair either, other than he starts and finishes at the Snook Inn.
While winds are unpredictable from this far out, tides are not, so Banks is studying charts and conferring with some of his charter fishing captain friends to map out the best places to try to be at certain times.
The combination of headwinds as well as fighting an in- or outgoing tide could be formidable, he said.
If the going is really good, he added, he will probably put in extra miles.
The kayak Banks plans to paddle is not the sleek, 17-foot kind that could zip around Marco, Goodland and Cape Romano in a matter of a few hours.
He will be using an ordinary, fairly short and stable craft that doesnât have much gliding ability, so every stroke will count.
While Banksâ sole motivation for the endurance paddle is for his three pet causes, a cherry on top may come in the form of recognition by the Guinness Book of Records.
The category would be âlongest nonstop time period for a single person kayaking.â
The recognition would be subject to correct and exhaustive documentation, Banks said.

Smart Girl With a Stupid Heart
Posted by LAD75 on 2012-02-26 18:58:18
I'm single. I don't have any children. No one to support but myself. I'm educated. I'm not an addict or a gambler. My parents gave me all the tools I needed to be a successful contributor to society. So I should be able to handle this, right?
The hard lesson I've learned is that you can't give what you don't have. And sometimes, it needs to be okay to say no. A dollar here and there to the Ronald McDonald House, March of Dimes, Easter Seals, etc. = a good way to give to several worthy causes. A hundred dollars here and there to a friend in need, to the church, to the poor or other worthy cause = still doable. A thousand dollars (x4) to the jerk who broke my heart = big, huge mistake.
There are millions who deserve your compassion more than I do and I would encourage you to help them first. If after that, you have a little left over and can relate to the jam I've gotten myself into, I would appreciate any support you can lend.
I am swallowing every ounce of pride that I have in doing this. And I'm fairly certain it won't amount to anything but I feel I have run out of options. I just need to get my head above water and move forward.
And, though I've learned my lesson, I will make a promise to pay it forward (WITHOUT getting myself into the same situation again).
Thank you for your time!
Lisa

Wolves at the door
Posted by Hope00 on 2012-02-14 07:58:32
Well, this is embarrassing, but for the sake of my children I am doing it anyway.
I have a problem with bailiffs. My husband left me and also left me with all his unpaid debts as well as three children to support. I lost my job a year ago and have not been able to find another yet, although I have been trying. I am on benefits, but they do not cover the debts or the mortgage payments I need to make. I am trying to sell the house, and the mortgage company are being fairly reasonable, but even so, if I do not sell in time, I will also lose my house. If I can sell, I can pay my debts and move into rented with some money left over. But that's a long shot in the current market.
However, the most urgent problem is the bailiffs. They are demanding immediate payment of £2,020 (approx $3,300 USD) or they will take my possessions to auction to cover the debt. It's a joke, my paltry possessions will not cover the debt, but they will take them anyway. The longer the debt goes unpaid, the more "interest" they are adding to the bill and they refuse to take instalments, saying my husband broke the original agreement with them and now it's too late for that. Unfortunately, they are legally allowed to do this, (since we had an earlier agreement with them and they have what is called a levy on the house contents) as well as intimidate, threaten and even break into my house to collect my stuff. It's a frightening situation. I am afraid to answer the door in my own home and I have had to tell the kids not to either, because they are not above forcing their way in past them. I have tried the police, but they say it's all legal and they cannot help me, even if these men break in (in fact, they will help THEM to do so, because I owe the money) Itâs unbelievable, but it's true. I have even asked the help of a solicitor, but he says the same thing, unless the law is changed, there is nothing he can do. No one appears to be trying to find my husband, and I do not have the resources to look.
I hate having to ask, but I am terrified of these men. I can't eat or sleep and I am worried about the effect this is having on the kids.
I hope there is someone (or several people maybe) who can help me out of this mess I have been left with.
Thank you for your time.
Hope.
Need money for car repairs
Posted by Spyke on 2011-12-15 20:58:59
Oh and also, I'm up to suggestions as to what I am going to name this car. So far we've had a 97 dodge stratus named Pearl, a 1994 Buick LeSabre named Einhander, and our last car was a 96 Taurus named Wyrd (after the goddess of Fate). Yeah I picked the name after the first 2 listed died in the same month and we scrapped both for this one. Ultimately totalled in a wreck with a drunk driver was a fitting end for such a car with such a name, but it still makes me sad, that much AMERICAN BUILT and ENGINEERED chicago assembled car with the 3.0 L vulcan engine, cast of iron in the forges of Ohio and not a single leak despite topping 153k. Only 145 HP but it got the job done beautifully and dependably. You just don't get cars like that in the new millenium. *sigh* i will miss my 3rd gen taurus. Every day i see a dozen of them being driven bearing the characteristic curves and oval rear window. Anyway. . .a rainy day fund would go a long way towards helping me to learn to love her older sister. Right now I'm thinking of calling her Providence.

Young writer girl from a poverty stricken country in need, please help NOW
Posted by YoungWriter on 2011-09-09 02:58:50
I'm doing my best to change things, I'm starting my own little website since I can't afford more than 1 domain name at the moment. So...I'm NOT lazy, I'm passionate about work and the circumstances are suffocating.
Please help me by a small donation of your choice to bypass this month (bills) while I'm creating onloine streams of future income. WHOEVER helps me NOW when I'm in need - WILL BE rewarded, I'm willing to share my future success to say a big THANK YOU. I can write articles for you, or give away some of my future little commercial websites! Opportunities of my saying thanks are manifold. It's called good karma, you give and it'll return to you multiplied :)
I know there's a bright future for me, I only currently need your support so I don't face an eviction because of being late with bills for the last 2 months. :(
Please help me pull through and experience my genuine gratitude in the months to come.
THANKS
Job Seeker Needs Place To Live

I have 2 indoor cats. I am a non smoker, non drinker, no substance abuse. I am fairly quiet, middle-aged person. Most of the time I am job hunting. I do use public transit, so I am seeking something close to a bus line. Would possibly relocate, at this point.
Perhaps we could work something out? Do you need someone to house sit or care for a house you are selling? Can I pet sit for you? I have clerical skills; maybe you need something done? I am open to legal and appropriate ideas.
I am trying!!

Help a Mum in Need
Posted by jessicateige on 2011-06-01 17:58:32
I'm bipolar with degenerative disc disease. Years of chronic pain led to a dependence on pain killers that I feared I'd never escape. So it is with a great sense of accomplishment that I can proudly say I've been drug free for over 13 months. As I have learned to live with some degree of pain, I've re-dedicated myself to staying on the medication that manages my bipolar. Most people will never understand how I could be so determined to take one pill but not another. Acceptance of my mental illness and the consequential pharmacological regimen is not easy. I consider myself a fairly intelligent person, and it still wasn't easy. It is because of my children that I have accepted this destiny, for lack of a better word. I will not take the easy way out, I will push forward to rebuild my life and carve a future that my family can be proud of. But for now, I'm facing the world all alone. My children I see on weekends until I can provide a home they deserve. And I will get there, because I believe it.
So here I am, searching desperately for a job, yet trying to stay positive and remember how far I've come. I ask for help in getting through this rough patch. I just need help in paying rent. It's amazing what $500 would mean to me. That's all I need. I look forward to a time when I can pay it forward, as all good deeds should be.
Thanks, Jessica.
Help me with my mortgage
Posted by Quattro on 2011-05-30 05:58:17
I have worked all my life, studied hard for a degree and have never had to stay on welfare for more than a few weeks ever in between work.
I got this loan some years ago when I was in better health. Now I am very worried about it. I am a single woman with no family but I do have younger relatives two of whom are mentally ill and need my help. My home is not large enough to have lodgers. If I sell up and just rent the outgoings will be the same. Rents are just as expensive in the UK as mortgages. The equity in my home is not enough to live off.
I am hoping to raise enough money to pay this mortgage off fairly soon.
I worked out that if 31,000 people donated just £5 each that would clear it - or 15,000 people donated £10.
If anyone out there can help they will be my friends for life!
Everything I am saying can be verified if need be.
I really am very very worried!
Please give what you can.

As a teen I partied, did drugs, and had a great time mainly because I had absent parents that didn't care what i did and no one to give me direction...I had spent time homeless as a teen and had nothing... I myself turned everything around starting the day my son was conceived because I was determined to be a good father, and by 25 I owned a few apartment buildings, I no longer partied because I had a son and I vowed that I would be the parent I never had so he can have a bright future... I was financially stable and good with money... everyone saw me moving up from nothing... I felt proud of where I had taken my life... 3 years later in the spring of one year I got injured at work by crushing my leg with a fork truck which put me out of work... That following summer while I was still healing my sons mother passed away at 23 from a heart condition... Then in the winter of that same year my most profitable apartment building burned to the ground... All of this happened in one year!!!! I could have weathered any one of these events and recovered fairly quickly but not all of that at once...I lost 90% of my income and with what I made I could not afford the credit and mortgages I had outstanding... I was getting creditor threats constantly and I was going to lose what I had left to repossession and seizure... I knew some people that made money selling drugs and I made the stupid decision to give it a try... I was panicking and it was a last resort... I figured I could get in, make enough money to get back on track, and get out quick!!... unfortunately i was not a very good drug dealer... I got caught a matter of weeks after starting... The police raided my house... my son was only 3-4 at the time and was there for the whole thing... I was devastated... I was charged with trafficking cocaine in a school zone on top of a bunch of other charges they throw in for good measure... I couldn't afford bail and sat in jail for the LONGEST 6 months of my life...and social services took my son and told me I was never going to see him again!!!.... while sitting in jail I had no hope as I was looking at 15-25 years in prison minimum and my public defender said i was definitely doing at least the minimum... my life was over and I just wanted to die... while I was in there my sister (the only one in my life that didn't give up on me)sold off what I had left to be able to afford bail and a private attorney... My private attorney was a MIRACLE WORKER!!!! LITERALLY!!!!! The court battle took FFOOOORRREEVER but at the end I got 1 year probation!!!!! That's it!!! from almost a guaranteed 15 years in prison to only 1 year probation... I cant even ask God for a lottery winning after a gift like that... it really was a miracle and to ask for more in my life would be selfish... I didnt think i was going to get to raise my son... by the time I got out of prison he would have been a man... I would have been his biological father but he would be the creation of someone else... My son is all that means anything to me in this life and to lose him would be the end of me... Even after being freed from the possible prison outcome I had lost my son to social services and they weren't going to give him back to me... they fought hard to keep him away from me...I had to fight them legally with literally every penny I had left but in the end I got full custody back... Now I have my son and I am happy and like I said I cant really ask for more because I have overcome some impossible obstacles that I can only attribute to actual miracles because there really is no other explanation... But I have nothing else... My son and I have been living in a family homeless shelter because I can not afford anything... I am unemployed due to having a chronic eye condition called Uveitis... I would still work and I still look for work but even though I didn't go to prison everything I got charged with is still on my record and when I apply for jobs I get declined for all of them because of the criminal background checks... I've been turned down by so many companies that I am losing hope... I don't want to be a failure and I want to be able to raise my son better... I cant bring him up in homeless shelters and I need to feel better about myself but I don't see any way out of this situation except asking for another miracle... and like I said asking for another miracle feels selfish so I don't even ask God for any more because what he's done for me already is more than I should have gotten... My goal is to be a landlord again... I was good at it!!! I enjoyed it!!! I tell my son all the time... if I could get my hands on one million dollars free and clear I would buy 3-4 apartment buildings with all of the money all at once and get started building my career off of the rental income... I would be right back where I was before this all started... At the current rate it will take me decades (if at all) to get back to where I was if I don't get help... there is just too much to overcome... my credit is at rock bottom... I still have debt of almost $100,000.00 and I cant afford bankruptcy fees to get rid of it... I have no hope of finding a good job due to my mistake... I have no money for continuing education and already outstanding student loans and criminal history that prevent me from obtaining any assistance... My son and I live in homeless shelters... and I have next to no income... I need help.... I want to give my son hope for a good life and I can't without the miracle I can't ask God for... If there is anyone out there that can get me right back in the game...right back to where I was...I will pay it back or even pay it forward to someone else that needs it...
