I just need one dollar

Posted by hollymag on 2012-05-01 12:58:41

Well, one dollar at a time, really. I am, as are so many here, just one hair from losing my home due to job loss. For a while, I was managing to cover everything, but one little plumbing problem, one busted window...you all know the story. Now it's snowballing, and I find myself needing help.

I do believe in karma. Anything in excess of what I need will be donated to others in need. What goes around does, indeed, come around.

Trying to clear my debts

Posted by Startinover2012 on 2012-03-29 12:58:30

I am a nurse on a salary that does not cover my outgoings. I am working overtime, selling all my furniture, anything I can at the moment. I walk to work and only food shop once a month or when I can afford too. I don't drink, smoke or go out. Last year my job changed with a reduction in salary. I have now got debts in excess of $10,000. I have consolidated my debts and pay a set amount every month, sometimes I go without food shopping just so I can pay for electric and gas. I don't want anyone to feel sorry for me, I love my nursing job, but sadly I am so low, as I am desperately close to losing my home with the mortgage rate increase and other bills. Please help, I promise to repay those who can help me when I can, Thank you xx

Home falling apart

Posted by gratitude on 2012-03-23 12:58:53

My husband and I have been married for 30 years and have grown children. Most of our excess money goes toward helping them and the grandchildren. In the meantime our kitchen floor is almost falling through in three spots, our bathroom has mold all around the top of the walls and all our windows are completely molded. There is at least a half inch open space in our doors that allows cold/heat in so our electric bills are outrageous. We really need help in order to clear out the mold so ourselves and our grandchildren will hopefully not be affected.

Anything you could spare woudl truly help. Thank you and god bless.

DESPERATE! Please help me!!

My 5 month old son was admitted to hospital with respiratory distress.

He had a lack of oxygen to his lungs and it was touch and go for several days! He had to have oxygen, ventilators, a feeding tube and was in HDU!

As a single mother to two young children, I am forced to work part time as I receive no help, financial or emotional from their father, who ran off with my best friend.

I currently owe £4,000 in medical bills and on top still have to pay my rent and food and day care for my two children, plus the excess in sitters I needed for my older child while the baby was in hospital.

please please please if you can, help me. I would never normally do something like this but I cannot see any other option! I have been turnt down for a loan as I do not earn enough and live in rented accomodation.

I promise as soon as I am back on my feet, I will donate every penny I can afford to other needy causes!!!

Please help me clear debt that is drowning me

I’ve never asked for any kind of help before, and certainly not from people that I have never met! But my situation has become so desperate that I really do need help.
I have, for the last 15 years, struggled to make ends meet, following periods of ill-health, bad luck and catastrophic decision making. My circumstances are now very desperate indeed, and have even considered suicide.
In 1997 I suffered from a period of depression, that became so severe that I was forced to give up my job, and borrowed money to cover my mortgage and keep my house. Unfortunately the repayments on this ever increasing debt snowballed, and I found myself unable to meet my mortgage and household bills. I had ploughed my life savings into the home, and lost it all.
In 2006 I was approached by a friend, who was concerned for my financial circumstances, and suggested that we buy an old property, renovate it and sell it for a profit. I was desperate to make some money, and trusted my friend. I would refer you to full details of this in my Beg, as the project ended in complete failure having been ripped off by an unscrupulous builder. Work that should have taken 3 months took in excess of 9, and I ended up carrying out all the work myself. I regularly worked at the house from the early hours until well past midnight. The long hours left me exhausted, and in October 2008 I had a breakdown. I simply couldn’t carry on, and collapsed at work. My employer at the time was an unforgiving and vindictive man, and he said that I would be suspended if my work didn’t improve. I was afraid that I would lose my job, and under considerable psychological pressure from my employer I was forced to resign.
Following the failed business venture, which had plunged me into further debt, my breakdown and subsequent loss of my job, I simply couldn’t cope and pushed me into a long period of depression that became so severe that I planned to take my life. At the time I was so ill that I was unable to hold down a job, and this simply added to my woes - whilst out of work and undergoing intensive counselling I borrowed further. By the end of 2009 I was £15,000 ($23,250) in debt. I desperately want to rebuild my life now, but it is difficult to do so when I am saddled with a debt that is crippling me. Between 2009 and December 2010 my debt increased - there is no answer to it, and I will never ever me able to clear the £18,000 ($27,900) that I now owe. It is a debt that cripples me and prevents me from having a normal, happy life. I am 50 in February 2012, but have no future. I am tired of being worried, stressed, unable to sleep, and being depressed. Please, please help me start my life all over again. Please read my full story, and contact me if you have any questions. Thank you.

efficiency for rent in the Jenson Beach Florida area

Posted by packrat on 2011-12-16 15:58:25

I am a 71 year old women with a 49 yeardaughter that needs to find a rental that is very low price. We came down here to let the daughter reestablish her relationship with her father that she had not seen for 8 years. She has 5 stents and 2 tumors on her pancreas. Her father let her stay for 2 weeks but then he said she could not be there anymore and that I needed to take her back to Maine. I was supposed to stay at a friends place in Jenson Beach but her house burned down and it is just now being processed. Neantime the woman has shingles and I need to help her get the work supervised to rebuild her house. She is staying with friend but they do not have any place for us. So I need to find a rent that I can afford until we get the house done.I can also work to cover the excess rental cost if necessary. I am physically capable. I have run stores and registers before and have been a family counselor in the past as well as a crisis center director. So I do not expect anything free if I don't have too. Save it for the needier people.1-603-759-5802

One last shot in the dark

Posted by thompsonmike42 on 2011-08-23 01:58:29

My last post did not yield any results whatsoever, and I know that there are good, kindhearted people out there.

My name is Mike, I'm 22 years old, and have been living independently for the last 5 years. My parents kicked me out of the house as soon as I graduated high school. I went to college and graduated with a bachelor's degree last spring. Since graduation, I have not been able to find any work anywhere, from janitorial to fast food. I've had to sell off my possessions one by one to avoid losing the roof over my head, including a family heirloom left to me by my grandfather that can never be replaced, and my car (I get around on a bicycle). I'm out on the streets every day searching for anything I can do to make enough to stay fed. Currently, I'm in debt with my landlord in excess of $1500, which is about 3 months rent.

My parents are not a feasible option, as they have disowned me. I have no one else, so here I am, literally on my knees (I have no furniture), praying that someone who cares will see this and help me to not only get back on my feet, but also to help me restore my faith in the goodness of humanity.

If you would like to help, please e-mail me: thompsonmike42@gmail.com

Thank you for your time.

Last year during the month of June I visited my local hopsital in California three times. Of all of those three times my health care provider denied covering anything each time. I now owe in excess of $3600. Not only do I need to raise money to pay this off I need money to buy inhalers for my daily health safety.

If you can even donate 50 cents that would be amazing beyond words.

Please help a young guy in need, the universe has a way of thanking those who help others.

God Bless

Working Mom w/IRS Garnishment - About to be Evicted...

Posted by lmb219 on 2011-04-07 14:58:17

Hello...

This has got to be the most humbling, humiliating experience ever. I just spent days creating a free website, not even knowing a site like this existed...Arrgghh!!!! Story of my life! Anyways, if you want the full gist of our story, please go to http://payitforwardtoday.webs.com. I'll try to be brief here. I figure if I'm going to ask total strangers for help, they have a right to know a little (or a lot!) about who they are helping. We are a family of 4 (plus our little Mini Daschund, who we'll call "Puppers" for the sake of privacy!) that have fallen on really hard times. We are not looking for hand outs; we are looking for a hand up! If you think it's not seriously earth shattering to realize that the best and only hope you have left is to air your dirty laundry to the world, and hope someone shows up with some detergent, then I really hope you never go through anything like this. I wouldn't wish our situation on my worst enemy on their worst day. It is truly soul crushing.

I am a wife and mother of 2 children, ages 9 and 21. Long and short of it, my oldest struggled A LOT. He was expelled from his school, and I forced him into the only other school that would take him, made him go every day until the time he got arrested. I picked up his diploma for him at his school, as he was in jail and couldn't go get it, but I am, to this day, glad that he has that diploma, and now, 4 years later, so is he. He was diagnosed as Bi-Polar while incarcerated, and mental can be so much tougher to deal with than physical. I'll always wish I had known the exact right point where his road changed to the one he travelled, and stopped it before it started. Now he is going to be a father himself, and all I can do is believe things will be ok (and wait anxiously to kiss all over my new Grandchild!!!!)

I got into trouble by with the IRS by filing taxes with my ex-husband for a couple of years. I didn't know any better, and though we were only married for a few years, and eventually had to part ways, his neglect to file or claim anything has haunted me for years. As I continued to work legitimately, his interest and penalties grew, and since the debt was considered uncollectible from him, the IRS opted to come after me. I was a single mother, unable to get child support, and losing my tax refunds to the IRS. When I reached 30, I met my current husband.

My husband has always been a hard worker, but he too has had his share of bad luck. He is a recovering alcoholic with 11 years of sobriety under his belt. His favorite catch phrase is "I'm the hardest working broke guy I know!", and it's so true. He is CONSTANTLY going; making phone calls, doing estimates, meeting with people to try to network and pick up more business. He does great work, and has had to really struggle to get his licenses, and maintain the insurances required to operate his business. He is in construction, and has had his own business (along with his partner) for about 5 years now. The past year has shown devastating loss. Basically, 9 out of 10 jobs have paid just enough to pay his 4 employees, and he and his partner end up taking home less than their employees. They are also having a hard time competing with "fly by night" construction companies who come in, promise the world for pennies on the dollar, and when they have problems a year later, the company is nowhere to be found. It's a constant battle to convince people that your workmanship and the warranty that backs it up, in addition to being a local contractor for 25+ years with a stellar reputation is worth it's weight in gold.

I am working at a really decent company now, and was thrilled to get my foot in the door. I wasn't there a month before the IRS decided to garnish my wages. Now, instead of the $500+ I would be taking home each week, I am bringing home a meager $123 per week. This has been our sole income for many weeks now, and after reviewing all of my paperwork, it appears the IRS feels I owe them in excess of $50,000!!!! This does NOT include the state taxes, which haven't caught up with me yet, but I'm sure they will. So, I have decided to stay working, even though unemployment would pay me more, because jobs are tough to come by. However, it's impossible trying to run a family by borrowing money from everyone we know, and no way to pay it back, because the money we bring in doesn't even pay the bills, the rent...it barely covers the groceries.

Can I add one more thing here? My husband, who's job is primarily getting up on a roof every day, was recently diagnosed with Vertigo. He can't drive right now, and even if jobs come in, he can't get on a roof anytime soon either. Reading through what I've written, I'm thinking to myself "I would SO think this is fake if I were reading it". I assure you, it's not. I'm not looking to bilk money from anyone, and I'm not promising anything to you in return. The only thing I AM promising is that you would honestly be helping a family in need. I know there are people worse off than us, and I thank GOD every day that I got to wake up in the morning, and that I have a family to love, and that loves me. I hope you never know how painful it is to tell your daughter that she can't go to gymnastics this time around because we don't have the money. I hope you never have to sleep on someones' couch with your child because your electricity is off, and you can't find anything valuable enough to pawn so you can pay it. I hope you never have to look in your husbands' eyes and see the pain and humiliation there because he feels he has failed your family. None of these things are things we asked to happen, but they all did. Could we have done anything differently? Sure. But who out there reading this right now has always chosen the right path? Who has NOT made errors along the way?

We are not looking to get rich. We are looking for a helping hand. We have always helped others when we have been able to, and are hoping there are others like us out there that feel the same. My primary goal is to collect enough to retain a tax attorney to help negotiate a settlement for me, so that I can finally contribute to my family, and take some pressure off of my husband. I am also hoping to pay off some utility bills we still owe, and March and Aprils' rent. That's it. Just looking to keep the little roof we rent over our heads. If we are able to get back on our feet, we'd like to pay it forward ourselves...one person, one family at a time.

Thanks for listening to the story of a stranger, and if you've got even a dollar or 2 to spare, we'd be really grateful. I'm sorry this is all over the map, but I'm not a writer, nor even a college grad. I'm a regular person fallen on hard times, and doing anything I can to get some help for my family.

Peace.

unemployed 4 years - out of money - soon out of my home - need help

Posted by mjc102853 on 2011-04-05 12:58:49

I am a 57 year-old unemployed IT professional. Am trying desperately to find any work in my field. Working as an inventory taker ($8.50/hour) - schedule is less than 20 hours/week. I owned an internet cafe from 2003-2007. Widowed in 2006. I have been trying to sell all the excess stock (candles, cups/mugs, artwork, kitchie stuff & much more) since closing. Have used all savings, IRA & all nooks & crannies. Just sold/junked my 1995 Ford Windstar because it needed a complete brake/line job (old car=rusted everything under there). They wanted $600 to fix. I am afraid that after this fix there would soon be more major things to need repair. That's the way it usually goes with old cars. Mortgage company has started foreclosure process & I expect that I cannot fight them without a chunk of money to bring to the table. I have difficulty having yard sales because I am alone - but I want to empty my house of all the excess I bought home when I closed the store. I need money but would also like to know if there is someone or organization I could contact for help organizing/selling all my stuff. I have always taken a back seat to the needs of family & work but now I need help & don't know how I am going to do this. Please help if you can - no donation or information too small. Thank you for considering my request.

Please Help Me!

NW-COLUMBUS, OH

I am a 27 year old woman who has been hopelessly stuck in an unbearably abusive relationship for 6 years now.

I was only 21 when I met my husband. I was a college student struggling to make ends meet on my own. Ive never had much in the way of familial support, my mother is an abusive alcoholic and my father left when I was 8. Therefore I held a full time job the entire time I was in school. It was a big accomplishment for me, but it was rough.

When my husband came along he seemed like the perfect guy. He was wonderful, funny, sweet, generous, smart, kind, he was easy to fall in love with. After only a few months we moved in together and he proposed on our one year anniversary. I put school on hold and quit my job to help him get his business off the ground, thinking, at the time since his earning potential was so much higher than mine, that it just made sense for us as a couple and a team.

It didn't take long though for him to change. He quickly became distant, depressed, violent and moody for no apparent reason. He began drinking in excess and popping pills frequently, lashing out at me over nothing, lying, hiding things and cheating. My happily ever after was now a living hell! Every time Id get fed up enough to leave he'd cry, apologize very sincerely and beg me to stay, promising he would change and admitting how wrong it was for him to treat me that way. When that stopped working he started trying to bully and control me, threatening me, emotionally manipulating me and being physically aggressive & abusive with me. My husband is 7 years my elder so at first I suppose I was naive and easy to manipulate...Because I believed him and loved him I stayed.

But by year three I had, had it with the abuse and no longer believed him when he promised to change, I now knew better. Unfortunately I didnt have a parent or family member I could go to for help. Therefore my options were to either be homeless or to stay with him until I was financially able to be on my own. So I decided to make a plan to leave him. I had worked on and off in the Real Estate industry since my college years and so I went out and got an entry level job in that field and opened up my own bank account so that I could put money aside to pay off my large amount of debts (over $45,000 in student loans, car, credit card, etc) and move out on my own.

It was hard putting money aside without him noticing, I could only use commission and bonus checks that he didnt know about to put in savings. After a year I had only managed to save just over $6000, which barely made a dent in my student loan debts, much less allowing me to pay off the others.

So I began searching for a better job. After about a dozen interviews I finally landed an assistant manager position in a leasing office at a property owned by the city that paid better and was more in line with my capabilities. The position required me to work in a very dangerous part of town. I was dealing with drug dealers, murders, and other various felons on a daily basis, having my life threatened and irate residents screaming in my face wasnt an abnormal occurrence! But I was so determined to get away from my husband that I stuck it out. In just under a year I was promoted to Property Manager after the previous one had quit. I was elated! Finally I would be making enough to get my own place. I worked from 9am to 9pm most days since we were understaffed. I never went home until everything was taken care of. I gave 200%, going above and beyond to make my property the best it could be. I often received compliments from my superiors and the owner of the company on my job performance as well.

However before I was able to move out, things took a terrible turn. About four months into my new position, the company had hired a new person to be my superior. Unfortunately for me this person, now being in a new position of power, decided that they wanted to give all their friends from their previous company jobs. Since there were no openings available they decided to terminate current employees in order to make positions for their friends. I was one of those people! I remember the day so vividly in my head, being told they were letting me go. I just kept asking why? Id never once done anything wrong, I got complimented on my work performance frequently and even the residents who used to hate me, now loved me! My new boss and the companys owner agreed, Id done nothing wrong and offered me severance pay. But I didnt need severance pay, I needed a job! I was devastated. I had come SO close I could taste it, just to have it all ripped away like a cruel joke of fate. I nearly had a nervous breakdown. The thought of having to start over again with a new company from square one, the thought of staying with my husband another day was unbearable. I couldnt understand why this was happening to me, Id worked SO hard and after more than 2 years, gotten no closer to getting away from him.

I tried to find a replacement job with equal pay right away with no luck. By now the economy was very bad and good job offers were few and far between. Employers could afford to be picky, and people with three times my experience were applying for the same jobs. I decided to meet with an employment lawyer to see what options I had about my situation with my previous employer. He agreed my termination was wrongful and thought I had a solid case, to at the very least, get a larger severance. But he also informed me that while I had been wrongfully terminated, in the state of Ohio, employment is at will and therefore employers are allowed to fire you for no reason, as long as they dont discriminate against you! He preceeded with legal action confident that they would agree to work something more reasonalbe out, but things did not go as hoped.

So here I am. Six years into an abusive relationship that Ive been trying to escape for three! Ive now been unemployed for 8 months. Aside from the bad economy, the fact that I have taken legal against an employer and no reference from that employer due to filing a complaint against them, has made me practically un-hirable in my field. Ive tried interviewing for other jobs, but I either dont have the experience or they dont pay even half of what Id need to take care of myself. Ive thought about going back to school, but, again money becomes an issue. Ive done the math and I simply cant afford it. Ive spoken with divorce lawyers and since I have no children and have worked during my marriage, a divorce wont render anything in the way of financial support.

Ive exhausted every option I can think of and need help desperately!!! At this point my life is like walking a tight rope, trying not to do anything or say anything to set him off. Even so, his volitle moods and angry outburst are a daily occurrence. Im terrified and feel very hopeless. Ive had to spend almost everything I was able to save while employed, since being unemployed and am now down to almost nothing. I cant get welfare or go to an abused womens shelter because I have no children. I have nowhere to go and no one who can help me. I dont want to be homeless, but I am afraid if I stay Im going to end up dead.

Ive never in my life asked anyone for a handout. Ive always had to be very independent and self reliant. Im a good person, and am the first to help others when they need it. I am smart, loyal, talented, trustworthy, compassionate and moral. And I dont deserve to be in this situation. Ive never been one to complain about my problems. I always thought, where theres a will, theres a way, and that if I worked hard enough I would get where I wanted to be. But Ive fought tooth and nail trying to get out of this hell Ive been trapped in for years now to no avail.

If anyone out there is in a position to help me, I would be eternally grateful. Unlike most other people, going home to live with mom & dad until I get back on feet just isnt an option for me. I NEED MONEY and I need it NOW. I either need a steady, stable job paying at least $60000 annually or enough money to support myself while I finish my college degree. My current debts (student loans, car, credit card & medical bills) total just under $40000!!! I pay $1800 cumulatively toward these debts alone per month. Add in a VERY modest budget of $2500 for the cost of living (rent, utilities, phone, food, gas, toiletries and other necessities like car maintenance, insurance, dog care expenses, etc) and I absolutely cannot live on less than $60000 annually, and even that will be very tight, considering how much taxes get taken out.

Ideally I would love to work with animals, and given the time and money I would love to go into Veterinary Medicine one day. Im also very interested in holistic health, both for animals and people, specifically, holistic nutrition, herbal medicine and holistic treatment of illness, afflictions and diseases. I dont have any job experience in these fields, but I am very knowledgeable in them through my own experiences and research. And I have a love of animals that would be hard to surpass. Im a very eager and fast learner. I have tons of experience doing just about everything office related; Im good with computers and different types of software and have experience managing a small staff. I have great leadership skills, am very organized and give much attention to details. I am a night person by nature, so early morning jobs can be difficult for me if there is a hard start time. I work best in less rigid environments, with more flexible hours. Please dont get the wrong impression however! I am a very diligent and reliable worker, and will always do my job efficiently. I have so much to offer and could be doing so much more with my life if given the chance.

Any job opportunities or cash donations would be greatly appreciated! Please help me to finally break free of this misery Ive been living in. I could never thank you enough!

Sincerely,
Linda

Sincerely,
Jamie

Desperate to Escape Abusive Husband!

Posted by jamie-needshelp on 2011-03-19 22:58:17

Sincerely,
Jamie

Desperate to Get Away from my Abusive Husband

Posted by jamie-needshelp on 2011-03-19 22:58:10

Help me realize my travel dream after a nightmare year!

Posted by beckycage on 2011-03-08 16:58:36

I am asking for help to realize my travel dream of finally getting to visit my friend in northern England. She's been to visit me here but I have never gotten to visit her. I am really hoping that someone can help because I have had a nightmare of a year where I had to leave the state where I was living to escape a dangerous family situation and was forced to spend a month living out of my small car before finding a place to stay. I was supposed to go and visit her before that but the money I had saved up for the flight was stolen by the people I was staying with. I am disabled and unable to work so I have scrimped to save the money to get my passport and am having a hard time with the flight. I am planning to travel from April 28, 2011 to May 12, 2011. If there is anyone who would be willing to donate money for me to travel from Lexington, KY to London or if you have an excess of frequent flier miles that you would donate to help me get this so I can get away for a couple weeks I promise to pay it forward as soon as I get my disability approved. If you are willing and able to help, please let me know ASAP! I do not want to let my friend down again!

Low on Funds to reward myself fo rmy sobriety

Posted by Micheald1 on 2010-12-11 23:58:58

I have been looking for a nice reward for my two years, three months and eighteen days of sobriety.

After nearly eighteen years of daily drinking gin excess of a case of beer plus a day I made the life saving decision to quit. I spent two weeks in my bedroom when i was not working trying to cope with excessive withdrawal symptoms to include; severe shaking, cold sweats, never ending headaches, and food deprivation.

At the end of those two weeks I entered myself into a rehabilitation facility and began the process of becoming clean and sober. Through-out this entire time I worked a full time job, became the only employee for the company to specialize in installation, and tried to keep my marriage and family together.

I have since enrolled in Adult education classes and completed my Associates Degree in Human Service Management, began my Bachelors degree in Psychology on my way to becoming a Chemical Dependency Councilor for Troubled Teens and at risk Young adults.

I would like to reward myself by building the one and only Hotrod vehicle I will ever own. I have a specific idea of what I would like my Hotrod to look like including drive train, paint, and interior. A basic Hotrod in the fashion of the Classic Roadster on a Budget is my goal.

In order to achieve my goal I am in need of approximately $2500 for the frame, body, and running gear. I have an engine and the skill and desire to complete this "Reward to My Sobriety" in the next eighteen months.

Any and all assistance in allowing me to achieve this goal are very heart felt and appreciated. All progress will be documented and updated on a monthly basis for all contributors to see.

Thank you for your consideration and time in reading my request for assistance.

Have a great day.

Lost wages, need help

Posted by haut1959 on 2010-09-27 10:58:58

I lost my job in April. I have used up my 401k funds to stay afloat while I tried an insurance sales job that went nowhere. Now, I am faced with destroying my credit rating asking the government for help on my mortgage, getting my utilities shut off, and doing whatever it is that I can to keep a roof over my family's heads. (I am raising two special needs children)
If you can find it in your heart to help me, I would be eternally grateful, and if the response from this ad proves to be overly successful, I will donate any excess to anyone else on this site who needs help.
Thank you so much for reading my plea and God bless you.

FAMILY OF 4 (SOON TO BE 5) IN DEPSPERATE NEED OF ELECTRICITY!!

Please Help. We ran into financial trouble during my pregnancy. My husband is prior military and has been seeking a job nonstop in our small town. Without reliable transpo. (our car broke down during this as well) it has been very hard. He finally landed a job and we have been catching up...slowly, as we became soooo far behind and the bills have piled up. We actually put the amount that was stated to us for 2 WEEKS by the electric co. (using all remaining/extra funds) to restore service. Received confirmation number and upon calling to give confirm. # we were THEN told we would need much more...to the tune in excess of a thousand more dollars to have service restored as "our meter had to be replaced"????? No other explanation, and we had not been told this until after paying the initial 760.00 that we had been quoted over and over for two weeks!! Nothing we can do. I am due to have another baby girl in November and desperately need some help. Thank you for reading, please donate if you can.
