My future depends on finishing this associates degree
Posted by Sikhindu on 2012-04-29 14:58:39
I saved up enough money for school but now it turns out I don't have money for living expenses. I get a work permit in November 2012, but by then I won't have any money for next year. The expenses for each of the two years is $17,000, and I saved up just for one year. I need help in making ends meet. I have been looking for work on campus and it's not working out since I was told to wait until August and September for cleaning jobs and restaurant jobs at the school. All the tutoring jobs I have applied for on campus have not materialized so far.
If I do not finish this school, it is over for me. I spent many years in the US in school since 2001, and it resulted in nothing because they didn't give me a work permit, and they did not allow me to stay.I got two bachelors degrees from there but since I did not have citizenship or a green card, I had to leave.
If I finish school here in Canada, I will get a three year work permit, and I can finally be useful to myself and my family. I need to pay back money that I owe my uncle for paying for my primary and secondary education back home in the third world. I need to educate, or at least pay for my niece and nephew who are orphaned to go to college. I need to take care of my sick mother, I have been unable to do that so far because I had to pay for my education in the US out of pocket.
I have other on going problems such as loss of sight in one eye but then that is something to be dealt with when I finally finish school, it is not as urgent as getting the money to pay for school. No matter how badly everything else is going, even with my mom being sick and my being unable to send her money for treatment, school comes first even though ideally it should not be that way.
I have been involved in community service for many years. I worked with DC Habitat for Humanity on a house construction project. I also worked with refugees from 2010 to 2011 before I had to leave the US, I was tutoring English through International Rescue Committee. I am currently working with the Food Bank where I am, and over summer since I will have no on campus jobs, I plan on getting more volunteer jobs so I can give back to the community. Canada has given me so much, a chance at self improvement, so it's only natural that I want to say thank you to this great country.
I am not scared of working, infact when I was in the US I worked full time while going to school full time. I do not want to violate the student visa here in Canada because Canada is a kind country for immigrants and they will definitely give me the work permit come November 2012, as long as I do not work illegally before then.
I am planning to move out of my homestay right now and rent with schoolmates in order to minimize my expenses. I do not usually even eat things like meat, milk, eggs, all of which I do not like or I am allergic to. So I do know how to save money. I learned to live on very little while in the US so I need money to pay for my education so that I can maintain my student visa.
Please help, my family cannot afford to pay for my education, I do not have citizenship from a developed country to qualify for financial aid or scholarships, the scholarships from back home are mostly for those doing masters degrees and PhDs, I'm doing an associates degree right now. They also insist that you must not have already left the country before they give you the scholarship. I will be applying for scholarships in the schoool, and also some bursary from my government which might be only $500, and that is only if I can get someone back home to bribe someone in the Ministry of Education to get that bursary.
I have tried all ways to improve my life for many years, and this time education truly will be a key to improving my life. I am not a stranger to subjecting myself to medical experiments in order to earn more money to pay for school. I need help this time around, this is my last try at improving my future. Going back home will be a disaster since I do not have tall relatives (people with influence) to get me jobs. What's the point of my adding myself to the millions who are dependent on others for help?
Any amount which can be sent to my Paypal account will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

I graduated in December 2010 with a BS in Public Health. I gave birth to my son in 2011. I moved in with my now ex boyfriend, but he told me he wants nothing to do with me and moved out leaving me to raise our child and with no way to pay for rent or bills. After spending time at home with him I have been looking for jobs and have been unsuccessful. I am willing to do anything. I live in the Washington DC area. If you have any openings or referrals it would be greatly appreciated.

Please if you can help it would be greatly appreciated, In 2010 my twin brother passed away due too post traumatic problems he lived alone and no one knew that he had died in his sleep thus it took a while before his body was discovered his remains had to be cremated and ever since the funeral home in South Carolina send his ashes back to our hometown his ashes have been resting in a garage. I feel his remains deserves a proper burial at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC he had been awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. I would like to drive home this coming summer and take his ashes to Arlington but I need money for traveling expenses(Gas,Lodging and Food).
Please help paying down student loans
Posted by dan_s on 2011-12-18 20:58:25
Growing up poor meant that I was not afforded many opportunities as others. Having two alcoholic parents meant they preferred to keep the liquor cabinet stocked than to set up a college fund. While I love my parents dearly, I wish they could have done more to ease the amount of debt I already possess at a young age. At the same time, I know that my experiences have shaped me into the person that I am today. Nonetheless, I have been forced to acquire a significant amount of debt and am asking for assistance to have this debt paid down. As a child, I had to work hard to earn money for things that I wanted, often cutting neighbor's yards for money. I started working at a fast food restaurant at 15 to earn more money and have been working ever since. When I finished high school, I knew that if I wanted to break free from the shambles of poverty, I would have to attend college. Without any resources at my disposal, except for the small amount of savings I had, I was forced to finance through student loans. Four years later, I was a cum laude graduate, but had over $50,000 in debt. I know this debt is necessary for me to attain my goal of financial security for myself and future family. Still, assistance to get this debt paid off would be very much appreciated. I do not make excuses nor do I ask for handouts. I am employed in Washington, DC and working hard to gain success. Still, the debt is overbearing and a constant reminder of how much more I have to work. Living in Washington means my living expenses are incredibly high and therefore I have had to defer my loans for another year - the compounding interest is just adding to the problem. I simply cannot afford the interest right now. I know that one day all these sacrifices will absolutely pay off but in the meantime, I would like to start working towards financial security. I would be forever grateful for any donation that you could make. Thank you in advance and thanks for taking the time to read my short narrative.

Freelance designer trying to relocate to San Francisco
Posted by introversal on 2011-12-12 06:58:32
For career purposes, I've decided that I need to go to the West Coast. Please help me get there. I need $150 for a one-way plane ticket, and $3000 for three months of living expenses to get me off the ground while I'm job searching. I also have a fledgling freelance business that can help, but I am living on credit at the moment and don't want to reach my maximum.
I work in graphic and software design, and I've found that the opportunities in San Francisco are more challenging and more varied than the work available in DC, and this challenge is what I would thrive on. If you are in San Francisco and know of anyone who can provide work to a graphic/software designer like me, please get in touch with me at introversal@aol.com.
Thanks for helping make my dream a reality.

Where did I go wrong that I need a partner?
Posted by moodyp on 2011-12-06 22:58:13
Reason I am looking for a partner at this point, I am from Washington DC, in which I have a site call ok2bbi.com , I got up one night out of my sleep and said this is what I am going to do, open a clubhouse for Lesbian & Bisexual women, so I did my research in DC the results was great I mean these women want this clubhouse and was ready to signup, so at that time i went to look for retail space to host this clubhouse, but the retail down north was way out of my budget so the first thing I thought was do the test in Atlanta, and the results was even better then DC... so here I go again looking for retail space in Atlanta area, I did not want the heart of Atlanta so I did Norcross and the retail space was cut in half ... so I told Atlanta if I can get 100 of you signup I will have a clubhouse open for you on Nov 1st, which 200 signup and I had a clubhouse open for then Nov 5th .. so I kept my word ... once I open my doors no one was on the other side ... I was like what happen to my 200 members who signup ..lol no one came forward, I mean I invest my last into this clubhouse over $20,000 ... I( still believe in the clubhouse and not going to give up on it, just bad timing its the holiday season, right now I am up for anything to get this place occupied ... I had a guy who wanted to invest but when it came time to come to the table he said he had $20,000 to invest, but came time it was $20,000 worth of furniture ...lol ... its lots can be done with this place, I use to be in the porn business which I still own it, but its not much money in porn no more ... which I love the adult entertainment business ... I still have my professional cam and it will take nothing for me to get back into, BUT
Love, Immigration and lack of money.

Love someone in a country where there is not recognizion of same sex relationship is a nightmare. Being a foreigner make it worst!
Is my case, I am in a relationship with an american woman, we love each other and want to stay together for the rest of our lifes.
I must leave the country if we don't marry! US government could not deport me due that the law DOMA was derogated by Obama, so I would stay in the USA without the right to leave the country until the law become federal. But I will be together with the love of my life.
We are 2 middle age women, my american partner is unemployed and I am a foreigner with not rights in the USA, we are surviving of the generosity of acquaintances and we don't have any financial mean to go to Washington DC to celebrate our ceremony, we are counting on your generous help to be able to make our dream come true, and make this journey there and get marry.
Please help on behalf of love!!

Help needed for kids of disabled mom
Posted by sendthegirls on 2011-04-07 23:58:18
So I just putting my karma out there and swallowing my pride. That I would use a site like this would never have occured to me a year ago, yet here I am. I was diagnosed with psuedotumor cerebri and fibormyalgia and sometimes the sentence seems worse than death, except for my kids and husband. He works as hard as he can at a non profit group that I used to work for before my doctor disabled me. I am still waiting for Social Security to decide if I "deserve" th money I paid into that system for 24 years. Anyway, my kids give up so much for me. My daughter checks in the mornng to make sure I have taken my medicine and its just sad. Here is what I need, I will just tell it like it is. My daughter is a 4.0 student who excels at everything. Last year she was invited to attend a National Young Scholar Program in Washington DC and the leadership and things she learned were amazing. This is the ONE thing I don't want her to have to give up for me. This is not a summer camp but a class room setting. I can supply the website for the school. The tuition is 2000 for the school. I also would need maybe 2000 for travel and lodging. I can't be six hours away from her if she should need me or something were to happen to her. That is what I need and I am putting it out to the universe to help me. I feel like before I got sick I would help anyone who needed it and it was in my power. I have to believe that will come back to me. I can be reached at sendthegirls@yahoo.com if you think you can help. Even if many people helped a little, it should add up to achieve my goal. Thank you for any help you can provide and if I ever get my Social Security I will try to pass it forward. Thanks again.
New York and Washington DC School Trip
Posted by AlexTaylor on 2011-02-02 10:58:58
It has always been my dream to visit the USA, and when the opportunity to go on a school trip to see the sights of New York City and Washington DC the opportunity was just too good to miss. However, while I have the vast majority of the money I needed for my journey, (I'm only £40 short at the moment,) I'm left with absolutely nothing to spend on food or souvenirs when I get there. So please, I'm begging from the bottom of my heart, help make this trip magical for me, and thank you very much for taking the time to read this.
Single Parent Plea
Posted by SingleParentPlea on 2010-11-14 19:58:58
I am reaching out in sheer desperation as I am a single parent of two boys facing eviction. I have been looking for permanent employment for over a year, but only landing a few temporary opportunities and an odd job or two. My last assignment ended in August and I have been searching for employment with no avail to date. Having gaps in income has sent me spiraling in a severe financial deficit.
Imaging being faced with losing it all and struggling to maintain a positive outlook as the head of household; it's been extremely tough. Within the past two months since my last assignment, my vehicle was taken due to repossession, and I have found myself two months behind in rent.
Last Thursday, I received notice for rent court that is a warrant for repossession of the property, my court date is in two weeks.
I am frantic, afraid, and worried, because my children have always known their own home. There has been a barrage of questions entering my mind concerning, where we would sleep, if we were ultimately evicted. Would we sleep in a shelter, park bench, or hostile? Would we be safe? Would we be warm?
My two boys are great children, just how would eviction, affect them?
For these reasons, I am pleading for help to save my family. I have never considered doing anything of this sort, but at present, I will do whatever it takes to save our home.
If there is anyone out there that would find it in their heart to help a struggling family, I would be graciously accept donations of any amount. I currently owe my rental company WP & M Real Estate Group a total of $2,200.55.
If you would like to make a donation directly to the management group, I can provide you with the pertinent information via email.
Additionally, I am still in desperate need of permanent income. I have over 10 years of administrative office and executive level assistant experience. If anyone has any information regarding permanent employment ,I can provide my resume that lists my work history and skill set. I am seeking employment in the Baltimore/DC Metro Region. All comments and opportunities can be forwarded via email at singleparentplea@gmail.com.
Thank you in advance for taking time and consideration!
Sincerely,
Single Parent

just money to move

I am simply asking for $2000 to help relocate. My money is gone, I have been trying in futility to find work...overqualified/underqualified. I am only seeking the chance to try again.
God bless you all.

Need help to relocate!!!
Posted by elysium on 2010-08-13 00:58:58
I am currently residing in Maryland. On 06.25 I lost my seat at a design firm becausethe son of the firms president graduated and could not find a job, so I was cast off. Making things worse, I was denied unemployment benefits from DC because my 1st day of work at the firm was 10.01 and as such, did not earn income in two consecutive quarters in 2009, making me inelligible of unemployment insurance benefits.
Move forward to 07.27 where my divorce is finalized and I am cleaned out. It just so happens on the same day in another room of the courthouse, the foreclosure sale of my home is ratified.
Last week I decided that the job market in disrepair holds no clear or positive future for me and that it would be best to move back to my hometown to start over.
However, with no job, no unemployment benefits... well nothing. I need help. I need to raise the cash necessary to pay for a truck, tolls, and fuel for an 800mi sojourn.
Is there anyone who can help?

Dear Friend,
I am involved with helping children in need in Jamaica. I've set up a clothing drive to accept clothing and supplies that are needed for Mustard Seed Communities. I believe strongly in what they do and how they help children with disabilities, Hiv/Aids and abandon children. Since I have moved from Washington Dc to St.Catherine Jamaica, It has been a eye opener the need for help. I have hit a problem trying to get funding together to have the items shipped and would like to ask for you consideration and helping me. As a mother of three children this is a personal issue for me and I am honored to be able to help those in need. Please visit my personal webpage http://childrenjamaica.blogspot.com. On that page you can also make a donation and read about why this is important me and why I am supporting it. I am committed to this cause and I ask you to join me in supporting this, please know that every donation does make a difference!
