Posted by stillexhausted on 2012-05-17 01:58:00

Good morning, my name is Missy Jensen. I have 3 little girls in elementary school and a gorgeous husband and I thought my life, though simple, was perfect. We've never lived beyond our means and have tried to do the best by our family. We've given to lots of charities (mainly World Vision and Red Cross) and never thought we'd have to ask ANYONE for even a penny.
I don't know if "Medical Bills" is the right category but medical is why we can't pay our other bills and are in trouble with the bank over our home payments.
Since #3 was born I have had a bowel resection following them finding colo-rectal cancer - and I thought that was the end of it. I now have a prolapsed uterus (sorry.. this area of my body is a disaster) which I need to have operated on. I have to pay for that operation but also I'm scheduled for a routine staging colonoscopy at the same time. This is TOO MANY BILLS! I am praying that this will be the end of it and I can return to full-time work in the next 3 or 4 months but I'm scared since my whole body feels quite battered.
There are so many stories of people's difficulties that I'm a little embarrassed to even ask. If you can spare a small amount, our family would really appreciate it.

Urgent: Kentucky tornado victim plea for help

Posted by Cocogurl1234 on 2012-03-06 18:58:47

Hello all,

As you well know, there is great need and the devastation is overwhelming. There are towns that have literally been wiped off the map and others that have remained closed because they can not get the help they need due to roads that are impassable. By the grace of God my family and I are survivors. My family and I are writing to ask for your generous assistance with getting my family and I life back on track, our life has been turned upside down because of the Tornado that hit the Midwest on Friday.

We've lost everything, the only things we have is the clothes on our backs. I've contacted the United Way, but no help. I called the Red Cross they could only offer food/shelter for the time being. Everywhere I've gone, everybody is telling me there're insufficient funds. They don't have funds. There is nothing they can do.

Whatever amount you are able to donate would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Please find it in your heart to donate.

God Bless!

Im Drowning!!!

I am a single mom trying to take care of a son who has a mental disability, and trying to keep another son in college..thier father refuses to be a part of thier lives..In June of 2010, the man I loved and planned on spending the rest of my life with passed away with bone cancer. I was his primary care giver. We thought we had more time to put things in order, but time ran out quicker than we thought. He was my support, mentally and financially. When he was in the hospital, dying, his family made me leave his house, which he had told me I could stay in,,but since the wedding had not taken place yet(wedding date was in July and he passed in June) I had no say so..ever since I have been struggling to keep afloat, taking care of endless hospital stays with my oldest son,and trying to pay for his medicine and trying to keep my youngest in school so he can have
a future.I've barley made the bills, but am finally to the point of my utilities being cut off, and haven't been to the grocery store in over a month. Please someone find it in thier heart to help me get on level ground..I work for the American Red Cross, 60 hrs a week, but just isn't enough lately.I found an in home business that could bring me more income, doing marketing, but to make it work, I need about 2000 to gain traffic..All I want to do is keep us going, my boys depend on me, I'm all they have..
Could someone please help me? Anything would be so much appreciated..
thank you,

Mother of 3 with a chronic kidney illness needs help

Posted by cantbelieveimdoingthis1121 on 2011-12-29 07:58:06

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I am ashamed to be on here asking for help, but I don't know what else to do. I am in the position of having my gas and electric disconnected due to being in the hospital inpatient 2 times in the last 2 months for a massive kidney infection. I spent Christmas in the hospital, and almost spent Thanksgiving as well. I tried to set up payment arrangements with my utility companies, but they're not very lenient, or caring for that matter. I have tried to get help from any community action agencies or the Red cross, but they are out of funds due to the amount of unemployed in Indiana. I just don't want to loose my gas and electric in the winter with 3 boys. I don't know how to explain to them that we wouldn't have any gas to keep warm, and electric for the lights and to cook. I would not ask that the money come to me. I would provide the companies that I have my utilities thru, and any information that would be needed to help. Any help would be appreciated more than you know. And, if the person who helps happens to live in Indiana, I would be more than willing to do whatever work my body would allow, like cleaning house, helping with church events, anything. I am just unable to work right now due to the chronic issues with my kidney. But, the bills don't stop, and the companies want and deserve the money for the electric/gas that I have used. I normally am able to keep up with my bills, I just didn't expect to get sick, and for so long. November I was inpatient for 4 days, and never fully recovered. So, on the 22nd, I was put inpatient and didn't get released until the 26th, so my kids opened their gifts in my hospital room. It was still an amazing Christmas, family is what makes a holiday, it doesn't matter where you are as long as you're together. I will provide my email address so anyone who would like to help can contact me to get the Utility company information. Again, I don't want the money to come to me, I want it to go directly to the compay, so the person who is helping knows that their money went to what it was asked for. Thank you for reading my post, and thank you more than I can ever express in advance to anyone who is willing to help me. Your help is appreciated more than you'll ever know. email: brandee.hagood@gmail.com
last night while he was in town, he was told his house was on fire, he rushed home hurried to grab the
garden hose to save what he could, only he fell and had to go to the hospital where he fractured
several ribs and tore something in his for arm, which is wrapped and in a sling.
today he can hardly move for the pain.
he lost 4 kittens and the mama cat, every photo he had of his kids and so much more.
unfortunatley he didnt have insurance on the house.

he has a 19 yr old son living with him.

the fire dept probably did as much damage as the fire. they didnt try to seal the section off and work
on it, they soaked everything , every room.. so much that the ceiling fell in.
no one has contacted him most of the day, no one offered to really help these people..

i came home, got on the phone and called the red cross in albemarle nc, the lady said we cant do anything
till we hear from the fire marshall,
so we tried to call the fire marshal.. this was like 2 pm today..(friday) no answer left a message, it is now 11:30 at night.
.still no reply back.
someone did tell us he wouldn't contact them till he finished his investigation, that could be days,
called a church here, they said yes we help but we go through stanly county christian ministries call them.. so i called them
they said well, he needs to bring something showing his house burnt..i said lady its not as if they give to a certificate to hand out
when your house catches on fire.. i can give you the norwood police number, or the fire marshal to verify it..
around 5-6 red cross call's my friend.. tells him they are going to put he and his son up in a hotel in albemarle for the weekend.
. and he never heard back from them.. its now 11: 30 at night. i called the hotel they said red cross did call, but they didn't
send the paper work or call back.
thank god for the one friend he does have who is letting them stay at his house tonight, and giving them a hot shower,
and a place to rest. if left to the red cross i guess they would be sleeping in the yard.

this is crazy.. his house is totaled from one end to the other, nothing is untouched by smut and water,
no power, no clothes..not even a pair of socks.
charities are so eager to take your money, .but it seems to take an act of congress to get help if your the victim,
this is a good guy, he has volunteered his time endless times, days on end at the community table to feed people just
down the road. he'd help anybody he could, and has a wonderful son.

things they could really use,
clothes,
if there is anyone who might work in construction that has left over wood 2x4's, 2x6's
plywood, sheet rock, flooring,
anything it doesn't even matter if its scrap.
if anyone has some gently used furniture, beds, blankets.

thank you for taking the time to read my post, i know there are alot of good people out there who
still believe in helping, you just have to find a way to let them know you need it.
any help you can give would mean so much.

i can provide proof, phone numbers, photos, and address.
all i ask is please be serious in offering to help,
my name is tina..

Help for family of four who fell victims to a house fire.

Posted by God_is_good on 2011-10-02 01:58:23

My sister, her husband and 2 children are a christian family who live in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. They have lost everything because of an electrical fire in the walls of their home. Their home was destroyed and they did not have home owners insurance. What wasn't destroyed from the fire was destroyed from water damage. They are very grateful that they all survived as are their families as well. They are struggling though. It has been 3 months and they haven't gotten very far. They are living with her husbands aunt and uncle right now in a 2 bedroom home. That is 6 people all crammed in a 2 bedroom home. My sister had to quit her job because at this time she cannot afford child care. They applied for government assistance and turned down saying that my brother in law brings in too much money. The only help they've gotten thus far was from family friends and red cross! I was speaking with my sister on the phone earlier this evening and she was crying. I asked her what the hardest part of all of this is and she said not having a place to call home. She said she never in a million years thought she would have to go through something like this and wouldn't wish it on her worst enemy. After we got off the phone I was watching my programs on t.v and was trying to think of ways I could help them out and got to thinking about asking people online for donations to help her. I called and asked her and at first she was hesitant but after talking to her more I got her to agree. I figure there has to be some angels out there. It doesn't matter if all you can donate is 1 penny. Every penny adds up and it's killing me to see my sister and her family going through this. She also asked me to ask anyone who reads this to please pray for them ! Thank you all for reading this and God bless. Also thank you to anyone who has anything they can spare. I have set up my pay pal account and each week I am going to go in and transfer whatever was donated over to my brother in laws checking account right from paypal. Again thank you and God bless !

Opportunity to Participate in People to People for our 13 yr old honor student

Posted by teachercopparents on 2011-09-06 21:58:43

We were thrilled to receive a letter from People to People that our daughter had an opportunity to travel to Italy, Sicily, and Greece for 20 days to participate in a community help program. She is a pre-AP student, volleyball player, cross country runner, softball player, basketball player. She wants to be a Pediatrician.

I would love for her to take advantage of this life enhancing opportunity. My husband is a cop and I am a kindergarten teacher. The cost of the trip is $6500.00. If anyone is able to help it would make a big difference in our little girl's life.

Need help to move, go to school and start a new life.

Posted by nc2tone on 2011-07-28 09:58:03

Well where do i start. I am 27 and am trying to move cross country. I was working very hard to get by (I currently live in an affluent collage town called Chapel Hill.) and trying to save up to move. I was doing pretty good, got enough to get a dependable car after not having motorized transportation for like 5 years and was saving the moving costs to get to California where I have a job waiting for me(till October)when I got laid off by the university. Now im in a bind because I really hate it here.It is to expensive to live and the only jobs around barley pay enough to get by and thats with food stamps so you cant save money, have a decent paying job in a much cheaper place to live in way north California but cant afford to get out there.(catch 22 cause if i was there id be making enough to make the trip no problem.) I want to get there because the living situation is cheaper and with the job id have id be able to go back to school and try to do something with my life besides work in fast food (want to be a history teacher). Please anything helps and if you include an address Ill write you a thank you card.

Just asking

Posted by curious on 2011-07-17 16:58:30

I am not desperate, though not very well off either, and my plea is a frivolous one at best, but begging is free, and if it makes you feel good, I will gladly accept your help.

I have a job and manage to make my payments with the help of a credit card which gets me by when the things like doctor bills happen now and then, and I eventually pay them off and feel relieved for a while. I am not mostly just asking for someone to buy me something that I will never be able to afford on my own. A Pentax K-5 camera. Yeah, frivolous I know, but that is my only hobby when I get a chance to get out and play. Mostly I come home from work and look after my 90 year old mother in case she falls or her blood sugars get to high or low.

I work from maybe 6 am till sometimes 7 pm, and when I am not working, I am home watching her. I do make the most of the times I have by shooting photos of nature, and landscapes. I have an old camera that I bought used off of eBay for $300 a couple of years back and have a couple of lenses but My dream is for the K-5. I know I can live without it, and I know that there are a lot of people on this site who need your money worse, but I found this place, and thought that it might be my only chance at a good camera.

I usually donate to my church, and to red cross when disaster hit somewhere, so I am not broke, but I am just too conscious of the better use of what money I have than buying expensive cameras.

I will understand completely if no one wants to help, but will be eternally grateful if they do.

The man i had thought would drive cross country from LA to Florida, flaked out on me taking my meager savings of 300 bucks, my cellphone and slamming my left hand in a door at a hotel i had bought.now im stranded in hollywood and without a place to turn.
First and Foremost Prayers are much needed in finding a solution, any help will be greatly appreciated

A Family in Need

Posted by CMurphy1966 on 2011-07-05 09:58:47

Where do I begin? Perhaps I'll begin by saying how awkward I feel writing this - it isn't everyday that I sit down in front of a computer and decide to plead for money online, but with things not going very well I decided to do it for my family. We've been in a downward spiral since the unexpected loss of my full-time job in the end of December 2010 (Happy New Year!!!!). I've been doing what I can to keep the family's head above water, but the rent / utilities are falling behind. I have been frantically searching for an employment solution to no avail - time (and what little we had in savings) has run out. I never in my life imagined being in a situation like this. Well, in the midst of this crisis, my wife and I continue to stand as pillars of strength for one another and for our 9-year-old son, but we're immersed in depths of uncertainty and anxiety. Thankfully, we still find ways to smile to escape the despair. We do hope for a positive result. Perhaps with your generosity, we can find one. I think of the many people who are in similar situations and are asking for help. I cross my fingers hoping that I am one whose request luckily finds you. Please imagine someone placing an hourglass in front of you - they say to you: by the time the sand runs out...that's it...it's over for you. Imagine how overwhelming the fear and anxiety becomes as the sand marks the passing of time - time you no longer have. This is exactly the way I have been feeling lately...ever since I lost my job in the end of December. I have been immersed in anxiety ever since. I search diligently every single day for work to get the family back on the right track - in this economy it seems it really is to no avail. My stress increases as I watch what little we have in savings is whittled down to almost nothing - we are now counting mere pennies. I got so angry and frustrated on my son's last day of school when my car (a 1996 Buick Century) decided it had nothing left to give. I break down crying with envy at times when I hear of someone who has been lucky enough to land a job...get a new car...or receive needed help from a Good Samaritan. With all of the personal stories this website gets on a daily basis, I doubt that mine will reach the right people or impact anyone. But...if by some miracle it does...I want to thank you in advance...from the deepest part of my heart!

At this point, I don't have much to offer. But, I can promise you this. I will pay your generosity forward. I believe very much in the power of giving. I once purchased a handful of groceries for a homeless man who stood on a street corner. I will always remember the look on his face when I approached and handed him a week's worth of food and asked for nothing in return.

Sincerely,
Charlie

Money Needed to Save My Shop and Working Capital!!

Posted by jph15 on 2011-06-14 16:58:05

Hello, I'm a 35yr old god fearing male married with 3 children. In 2008 my father passed suddenly due to cancer in several areas of his body. He owned and operated a small Roll-Off Waste Company, so what he did was rent out Waste Dumpsters for Residential/Commercial purposes for the disposal of waste and construction debri. At the time when he passed I was working for another waste company. We had planned for us to partner in the Roll-Off Company but due to his sudden passing we didn't get the chance to. In 2009 I lost my job with the waste company that I was working for. I Started carrying out the day to day operations of my father's business so that my mother and I could survive.

At the time of my father's passing he had some loans with his bank which he had taken out insurance policies that would cover the loans in case of death. One of the types of loans he had was a line of credit for $25,000 which the bank didn't offer any type of insurance for that note. My mother and I were left with this burden and since my father used his shop for collateral for the line of credit we're in jeopardy of losing it and the truck and some other equipment and assets that the bank claims is being used as cross-collateral in the case.

Our credit wouldn't allow us to assume the note and continue to pay on it,the bank did use some of the insureance proceeds from the other loans and apply to the line of credit around $5000.00 At the time of his passing the line of credit was delinquent. we were willing to continue to pay on the line of credit, but financially at the time money was tight. Eventually without us being able to assume the note, make payments,or get financing elsewhere to rectify the monies owed we were facing foreclosure on the property.

A judgement for foreclosure was entered last month,so I don't have whole lot of time before the property will go to auction. I desperately need to keep the property and equipment so i can make a living for my family. I'm a hard-working individual who's looking for a break and a blessing. The amount i need including all the fees, court cost etc. to retain my shop is around $35,000 The amount i need to pay off the bank for the shop and have adequate working capital so i can run my business and have opportunity for growth is $100,000

The monies would be used as following:

*Shop Payoff $35,000
*A Spare Roll-Off Truck $15,000
*Additional Roll-Off Containers $15,000
*Working Capital/Operating Capital $35,000

I assure you this is how these funds would be utilized.

Please find it in your heart to help, I assure you I will in the future bless someone in return for the blessings bestowed upon me.

Need help so I can help others in Joplin

Posted by kcemt on 2011-06-01 12:58:56

I am looking for any donations I can get to support a lengthy stay in the Joplin Missouri area to help with the Tornado clean up. I just lost my job for not willing to comply with their illegal practices and strive to always do the right thing, no matter what or how it may set me back. Anyway, I have contacted the Red cross, and United way, yet these services are so inundated with what has happened that I think I have gotten lost in their system after letting them know I am available. I also signed up with "show me response" Which is a organization that uses medical professionals that want to volunteer. I am a Licensed EMT and worked on a ambulance service for 8 years so I hope they can utilize me somewhere, yet have had no response from them as of yet either.

After losing my job and the impact of the economy the last few years I have virtually lost everything I have. I currently have nothing, no car, no home (staying in a hotel) and soon no money. Instead of feeling sorry for myself and my situation I want go to Joplin and help those who have lost everything too. I lost mine over time they lost theirs in minuets. In Joplin the still standing hotels are sold out, the remaining people and volunteers are staying in tents in peoples yards. I did make contact with a lady who offered for me to camp in her yard, but I have no tent. So my purpose of being on here is just to ask some kind hearted people who may not have the option of going to Joplin on their own to help, to sponsor me to get there and get the few things I need so I can help the people who need it.

This is not a scam and am not using this disaster for personal gain through this site, and if anyone has done that or trying to do that just remember God and Karma will someday hold you accountable!! Please help me with my cause if you can:) Thank you. PS if I get enough people to sponsor me to go there, I will email them on a weekly basis of my progress there, as well as try to send photos of whats going on with the clean up. (emails will depend on available wifi connections)

Here is what I am needing : 45.00 for bus ticket Kansas City to Joplin (Jefferson Lines). 49.00 for a Tent, 40.00 for steel toed boots (from Walmart), 15.00 for leather gloves, 5.00 for safety glasses, 30.00 for a used hardhat. and any donations for the purchase of food while I am there you can offer.

There may be food available for volunteers but would rather go down there and not deplete any of their resources as some people have gone down to capitalize on others misfortunes according to some news articles I have seen.

These things are the bare bones I need in order to be able to do this. Since I am unemployed I have the time to go and help, I just don't have the above resources and you can help me so I can help others. Thank you for your time in reading about my cause. Please Donate thanks :)

I have no shame in begging as I am desperate to get my family safe. We just moved cross-country before Christmas. Our family of 5 changed to a family of 4, as our oldest (my stepson) decided to stay w/ his mother. Our other teen son has made the move ok, as well as our 5 year old daughter. My husband has not worked in 4+ years...he is not able to sit or stand for any length of time as he has Scoliosis. I just got a job but have not gotten full time yet. We are broke. We have $42.00 to our names as I write this. I have never been so depressed in my life!!! We had to move because we lost our house. We moved in w/ my parents and while we are very grateful we even have a place to go, they are in severe financial straits too! The tension is horrible....they are very abusive and unhealthy, but we had no where else to go. We HAVE to get the kids away from this stress. please understand....we are good people who have gotten rotten luck every single time for the last few years. Anything would be appreciated. Would love an angel to help us! Would even sign a promissory note + pay interest for a large donation/loan. They have threatened to throw us out and I am terrified! I feel so ridiculous being almost 40 years old and in this situation. I am a fighter and will pray for generous, kind, pay-it-forward people to help me get my family safe. THANK YOU in advance...!!!

Japan earthquake and tsunami: How to help

Posted by lucycampbell on 2011-03-12 16:58:03

Japan was hit by one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded on Friday. The magnitude-8.9 quake spawned a deadly tsunami that slammed into the nation's east coast, leaving a huge swath of devastation in its wake. Hundreds of people are dead and many more are still missing or injured.

Japan has often donated when other countries have experienced disasters, such as when Hurricane Katrina impacted the United States. Below are organizations that are working on relief and recovery in the region.

AMERICAN RED CROSS: Emergency Operation Centers are opened in the affected areas and staffed by the chapters. This disaster is on a scale larger than the Japanese Red Cross can typically manage. Donations to the American Red Cross can be allocated for the International Disaster Relief Fund, which then deploys to the region to help. Donate here.

GLOBALGIVING: Established a fund to disburse donations to organizations providing relief and emergency services to victims of the earthquake and tsunami.

SAVE THE CHILDREN: Mobilizing to provide immediate humanitarian relief in the shape of emergency health care and provision of non-food items and shelter.

SALVATION ARMY: The Salvation Army has been in Japan since 1895 and is currently providing emergency assistance to those in need.

AMERICARES: Emergency team is on full alert, mobilizing resources and dispatching an emergency response manager to the region.

CONVOY OF HOPE: Disaster Response team established connection with in-country partners who have been impacted by the damage and are identifying the needs and areas where Convoy of Hope may be of the greatest assistance.

INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL CORPS: Putting together relief teams, as well as supplies, and are in contact with partners in Japan and other affected countries to assess needs and coordinate our activities.

SHELTER BOX: The first team is mobilizing to head to Japan and begin the response effort.

Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami

Your gift to the American Red Cross will support our disaster relief efforts to help those affected by the earthquake in Japan and tsunami throughout the Pacific. On those rare occasions when donations exceed American Red Cross expenses for a specific disaster, contributions are used to prepare for and serve victims of other disasters.
