I moved in with my girlfriend 2 months ago. I left Boston to come be with her in NYC. My work had run dry until April. She had just been evicted from her apartment by a slumlord landlord who stole her belongings. We were living from paycheck to paycheck. Supporting each other as best we could. We didn't have enough money to get an apartment of our own, so we got a one month sublet, which ended up being a nightmare-living in a closet with our 2 cats, and dealing with the scum of the earth roommates who made us feel uncomfortable, unwelcome, and awful. During that first Monty, we spent our savings just living. We both work in the creative fields, myself a musician, an she an actress. Work was spotty at best. We borrowed money from friends and family, feeling terrible about ourselves every time. Mid-month, I decided to file for unemployment. (something i had never thought I'd ever do)
The money we were expecting from that would have paid her union dues, giving her a pay bump by about 400%. This would have enabled us to not only survive, but get on our feet and pay back our friends/family. About a week and a half after filing, my boss calls me and tells me I can't file, or he'll go out of business due to the fact he's never paid insurance on his employees. He convinced me he'd cover my unemployment pay (totaling $4,343) if I agreed to recind my claim, thus saving him tens of thousands of dollars in back-taxes. I agreed. As soon as I'd done that- he tells me his lawyer advised him not to do that, and that he never agreed to that in the first place.
I have now been playing phone tag with my unemployment agent for weeks trying to restart the claim, and have the state go after him for the money he owes them.
Meanwhile, at the end of January, we had to move again. We couldn't find a place in time, and ended up staying in a motel in Stamford for a night while we made appointments to see a few places. We awoke to the front desk and housekeeping ladies banging on our door, telling us we have to leave or they'll call the cops. We are still fighting Hotwire.com for charging us for that.
Luckily, we found a place that night. The expenses of having to move though, totaled over $500. (rental car, motel, storage)
The apartment we are in now is shared with 4 other people. It's a two bedroom. There are 3 people sleeping in the living room. There are cockroaches. We once again have to move out, by March 7th. We have applied for foodstamps. (they have yet to be approved)
This time around, we have no money to move with. Our resources have been tapped. We are out of options. Work is still spotty, and we have borrowed from everyone we know.
We have a week to come up with rent, cell phone bills, and moving expenses. Nevermind money for food to ear everyday. (as I type this, we are preparing to go out and sell some things for food money)
I have never been this scared in my life. I doubt that writing this is going to make a difference, but I have to try everything.

If anyone reading this wants a specific number that would get us out of this- its $5,000. Here's the breakdown:
$1,000 rent. (not counting a deposit)
$1760 my girlfriends union dues (which means she makes enough to get us on our feet)
$175 storage fee
$250 cell phone bills (it's a month late, an we're on the same plan)
$130 car rental to get our stuff out of the apartment
$40 rental car gas (they charge $9 a gallon if you don't fill the tank when you return the vehicle)
$1,000 for food for the two of us and cats' supplies. (food,litter)
And the rest would be to pay back some of the people who've already been there for us helping us along the way.

Please. Please help. We are a young couple in love. Scared. Trapped. Out of options.

The artists, including myself, are NOT making any money from the venture and are giving up their time for free.
I am a highly motivated self-starter with extensive experience in both the practical and administrative side of the arts. In return for your valuable help I am able to assist you to get your own business projects up off the ground in areas such as data entry, copywriting, editing, proofing and the creative process. Or if you are a creative organisation or individual needing a hand, whether it be through performance or administrative matters, I would be happy to help you free of charge.
Additionally, my wonderful troupe of singers can perform at your next corporate functioning or gathering - we will even travel as a special thank you!

I am a fighter. My story is a long one with many trials and tribulations; perhaps not much different or worse than others, I am not sure. My name is Elizabeth Newton and I live in Loveland, Colorado; the Sweetheart City and Gateway to the Rockies. I was raised by both parents in a middle class environment. I am the oldest of four, in which, three are brothers. I was a creative child who staged puppet shows and created clubs in our neighborhood. I am not sure if you remember the fuzzy sticky feet, but I made my own with left over pieces of carpet and sold them to my friends.
Moving on, I really struggled in school and got into a lot trouble. I was reckless, promiscuous, used drugs and alcohol and was dangerous. To keep it short, I dropped out in my junior year. When I reflect on those years, I remember some of what I did but mostly I forgot. I guess I felt as though I was being pulled by the strings of a puppet master whose name I now know is Bipolar.
When I turned 18 I shared an apartment with a friend. We both worked for the same nursing home and later for the Bureau of Reclamation. In was at the former job, I received my GED. I was still behaving recklessly resulting in a lot of missed work. But I was having fun being independent, partying all night but slowly losing control of my life.
I became pregnant by my boyfriend and we married several months later. My daughter is a grown woman. I then had another child four years later. Money was also a struggle. My husband wanted me to work but it did not make sense financially. I paid more for daycare then I was paid. When I found a position over the weekends, my husband refused to watch the children. That being said, I was still reckless – the mood would not go away – still a slave of the puppet master. Eventually the relationship became abusive and my husband left leaving $200 on the kitchen table. I did not have a car so I borrowed my father’s truck. I drove my father’s truck with my two small children in back to a safe house. However, it was not so safe. My husband who insulated homes, worked on the safe house. He found the truck and wrote things, I cannot mention here, on the outside of the truck. He coerced my grandmother to call me; and she did! Having to deal with these distractions kept me from focusing on me.
Good news! I was able to move into low income housing. It was a struggle to get my possessions; I took what I could. My father out of the blue wanted his truck back. My mother headed him off at the pass. I think I remember that my life settled down a bit. I enrolled in college. I loved college. In spite of this, I quit school to work from my mother at her computer store. Did I mention my parents were divorced? I am not sure it matters at this point. About six months later, the puppet master caught me and off I was again.
I had a boyfriend – I was 32 years old – and pregnant again…..This relationship was worse that the first. It included drinking, drugs, sexual and physical abuse – oh my, sigh. In the course of it all, I secured a position for one of the largest companies in Loveland. I was thrilled. I had actually come a long way. I divorced my second husband and found my own apartment.
Wow – raising three children on my own was not easy. We got by – I was able to provide what we needed. I forgot to mention I shared custody of my third child and had to pay child support. I never complained; I met my responsibility. I was performing very well at work and procured a position of a trainer. WeeHee – my new position allowed me to travel the globe. Can you imagine, me, the girl from Loveland, Colorado? During this time, I encountered a lot of problems with my ex-husband. Once, he called me at work and said he had a brain tumor. It was a joke; I did not find it funny.
I was promoted again returned to school and bought a house!!! I cannot think of the words to describe these accomplishments. I transformed from the woman driving my father’s truck to a home owner; kind of like the Home Sweet Home book. I was still partying, drinking, but not like before. The puppet master must have been on holiday. I met the man of my dreams and we married in 1998 (I think). We are still together.
The puppet master had those strings a rolling. I could and did accomplish anything. I could see what others could not. I finished school with ease and received my BA in Organization Development in 2005. What year did my story start? We bought a new home in a nice neighborhood. It is a modest home but fits us very well. I was still partying but it was not disrupting my work and home responsibilities.
CRASH! He let go – how could he let go? A woman pulled in front of us and totaled our car. I realize this does not sound traumatic, does it? I really do not know anymore. What I do know is this rocked my world. More than any other event did – and there were many. I could not recover. My performance fell down the well. I could not sleep. I drank a lot. I would even get up at night to drink because I could not sleep. The unthinkable happened. My strings let me down. I swallowed a bottle of pills. I was so afraid. I spent three days in the psychiatric hospital and two months in intensive outpatient therapy. During this time I was on short term disability. I am a fighter; I have never let my circumstances stop me. I returned to work for about two months. Nevertheless, the strings dropped again, were they ever pulled, I am not sure; I spent eight days in hospital. I was out of work again. This time when I returned to work there was no position waiting for me. I was laid off the summer of 2009. I lost it all in one short year.
Remember I am a fighter. I returned to school in July 2009 to obtain a masters degree and I graduated in early 2011. The problem? I obtained a degree and I could not use without further education. I still do not say this out loud. During this time, I landed a part time job as an instructor for students seeking their AAS Human Resources degree. I make a third of the salary I previously did. I have performed this job since April 2010. It is hard. I forget – my memory is not that good. What you have reading are the highlights of my life.
Adult children and BABIES!! Not one baby; two and a one year old. My daughter was in a bad situation in Arizona. She was pregnant with twins, had a one year old daughter, had no car and was being evicted. The dad? Let’s say there is a lot to be desired. She packed as much as she could and moved in with us. Would anyone turn a loved one away in this situation? I could not. I was still drinking. As I write this, I now realize drinking was the one constant in my life. Sad. Her pregnancy had it challenges, but I think this is common. The first snowstorm of the year, December 30th, if you can believe that for Colorado, the babies had enough; my daughter was in labor. We called 911 since the roads were bad. Several hours later we welcomed two healthy baby girls! They will be one year old soon.
New Chapter. How many do we get? My daughter and 18 year old son live with us in our modest home. We clash, how we could not. I have been telling my doctor that I am depressed, damn strings. I can’t sleep and my body hurts so badly; especially when I lay down. Oh, I forgot to mention, no drinking! I quit over a year ago. Regrettably the depression and pain are driving my every moment. I think the puppet master is on vacation. There is no hope. I have been out of work too long. We are waiting for the repo man to get our car. We are barely holding on to the house. How can everything crash so fast and so hard? I am a fighter remember. My mind is full of hopelessness. I have a note that says “Please just let me go”. I am a fighter remember. I call the crisis line. They tell me to call 911. I don’t. I go to bed. Maybe it will be better tomorrow. Not a chance. The same message is repeating over and over in my head; “please let me go”. I tell my family I am driving to the hospital. I do not want anyone to come with me. I go alone.
Hospital

I graduated in 2009 with a degree in Digital entertainment and game design. This degree covers web design, animation, game design, 3d animation and modelling. I also have a degree in music performance with some skill in music composition. I want to be a 3d animator. my goal is to start by making small psa ads, cheap online games and iphone/android apps, and short films. I have the talent and the training to do this in a way that puts out completely original music and visuals. This is the second step in my ultimate goal of working for a game company designing games and ads.

Unfortunately, graduation did not come with the tools to start out. I need professional versions of these products so that I have no trouble with marketing and selling my work:

Adobe Creative suite design premium or master collection
Autodesk 3ds max/maya
Finale music notation

I also need a desktop computer capable of running the full versions of these programs. A Macintosh would be ideal, with a touch screen monitor so that I can use my monitor like a drawing board, and a MIDI capable keyboard so that I can do composition.

I need all the help I can get. I have student loans that need paying off, and I know that I can really make some money if only I had the right tools.

I’m a single mother with 4 kids and I’m very sickly and as a result I had to leave my work a few years ago. My older daughter who is the sole bread winner of the family got retrenched over 2 years ago from her job and so we have no income or money for my medications. She has struggled ever since to find a job. She is very creative and has a Business degree which she got after putting herself through varsity while working and supporting us financially. I know she would be very successful if she didn’t have to support us as she is very smart and hard working. But now every little penny she makes goes towards supporting us.

She is now trying to start a business, a marketing company to be exact and has already registered this business because she believes in it so much. However the only problem now is that she has no money whatsoever to get it off the ground because every penny she makes she uses it to support us. And I can see her spirit is starting to weigh down because now she is stuck and has no way of financially supporting this business. She knew from the very beginning when she registered this business and even registered it for tax that she did not have the finance to see it through and she simply acted on her faith and hoped that God will provide. I have nothing to leave for my children when I leave this earth as I said; I’m very sickly and have been for years. Please if any of you can find it in your heart please help me help my daughter get her business of the ground. Please help me do just this one thing for her in my lifetime. I have no way of helping her and have not been able to actually all my life because I’ve had to raise them all alone which was very hard but I’m proud of the person she’s become. She passionately believes in this marketing company and is a dedicated hard worker. Please if you help us your money will not go to waste, that I can promise you. You will be giving a hope to a family that has never had much. This will be a new start for us. Please find it in your hearts to help us.

Although I grew up in a lower middle class family (disfunctional, and often abusive), I now live in abject poverty. I've made some mistakes. Who hasn't? Society can be quite unforgiving to those who've done a series of dumb things in the past!

Without going into a very long story here, I'll try to explain our situation. I'm an educated, intellegent, kind, and creative person. I'm not on drugs or alchohol, nor am I in any way a self-saboteur. My basic needs are pretty simple - a half way decent place to live and the knowlegde that I'm making progress in my life.

My most important goal is to help my family. I'd like also, to in some way contribute toward making the world a better place for everyone.

I've like millions of others got caught in the crosshairs of this economic decline. On top of that impact I was left to save my home when wife of 17 years left;within a year i got deathly ill and was at local hospital ICU a month and a rehab Hospital a 2nd month, both in Ga, A spinal infection precipitated 4 minor stokes which in turn cost me my fulltime employment as a college instructor. I had served in Viet Nam and returned injured only to lose benefits due my new found anti-war position.
Like everyone else i finally got SSI and very small disability stipend.
Now each month my country dream home becomes a smaller prison as I struggle against the foreclosure monster. My mortgage equals my SSI so electric bills, medical bills, car insurance. (1985 Nisson) get juggled if im well enough to earn extra.

I have a couple of creative projects with potential but my fear and day to day struggle drain me. I ve written most of a unique stage play/rock musical working title "God died in 66". I would prefer to not get into the painful backstory of how this all ended up happening. Suffice to say I live with my mom and she is on disability. I feel like a worthless pile of...

I am a VERY creative person with a lot of ideas, plans and goals. I just don't have the money to bring them to life, and living off my mother, albeit helping her with things she can't do, isn't going to bring my dreams to life.

I have been considering opening a night club and basing it around my own dance music. I am a home producer. The problem with that is finding a good location, and it will be at least $100,000 to start up a decent night club, and that's only covering the start up and the first 2-3 months of costs.

I think my best bet is to go with my game concepts. I have a cousin that does programming that I could hire, or possibly find someone at the local college. Best of all the start up is much lower. Space, 2 or 3 new computers, taking care of starting an LLC, security installation, etc.

All in I could run a 2 person gaming start up a whole year on around $65,000. 3 person for about $80,000, and there are no risks involved because I have complete confidence in my game concepts.

Even as a casual gamer I have seen games with less going for them than what I have planned making money.

I have it in me to start up an entertainment empire. I have a lot of the ye olde tavern keep in me and there is nothing I like more than seeing people have fun.

Hi, I am a former musical director who lost his full-time job due to younger generation moving in to replace me. I am 55 years old, in good shape and currently enrolled and have done very well in Voice Acting/Multi-Media/Film classes which are very expensive trade school type intense studies.

I am about half-way through the courses I need to launch my new career as a Multi-Media voice/music/acting/film/producer/director/advertiser. This will entail building a home studio, installing equipment and website/marketing costs. I am also playing in two bands and teaching guitar lessons trying to make up the lost income.

My motivation to ask for help financially is due to my hearing aids which are now very outdated. My right hearing aid has been repaired several times and no longer functions properly, I cannot use it to hear conversation. My left aid works but doesn't have the power I need to listen in class and hear what I need to excel. I use an outboard listening device right now but it is horrible quality. I am essentially rendered partially deaf because I cannot afford new hearing aids.

Our personal debt has been managed by my Wife's job but we cannot afford anymore credit card debt. What we bring in pays the bills, there's no more room for new hearing aids which cost $6500.00 for the quality I need. The top of the line aids are needed because of my new career, voice acting in a quiet studio, teaching guitar, live music performance, front of camera work. Contacting clients by phone and computer. All require a wide range of hearing.

My eyesight is now deteriorated where reading glasses don't handle my needs. I need either contacts or Lasik to go from reading copy, to front of camera to intense computer work.

My Story
This campaign is to help me achieve my goal of attending college at Ringling College of Art & Design.

I am an artist that loves to paint, digital paint, draw, and be creative. Since I was in elementary school I was interested in art. In high school I was in Art Honor Society, Business Professionals of the World, DECA, and Art Club. After high school my dream was to attend an art college for Game Art & Design. I applied to Ringling and got accepted which was the best thing that ever happened to me. So that I can better myself and become a professional in the Game Industry. Coming from a family that is low on funds it is hard for me to attend school and pay for supplies for each class. I apply for financial aid but I always have a huge gap left over that needs to be payed. I want to continue my studies at Ringling college and become something great so that I can help my family and be successful. Both my parents do not have good enough credit to take out huge loans for school which is why I am making this campaign to help me on my path to becoming a professional artist. I've had a variety of jobs in a variety of industries but finally figured out what I want to do with my life. So last year I quit my job and returned to college to earn a degree in Game Design and Production.

I believed I could work and go to school full time, but the problem is I have difficulty maintaining my grades when I work. And of course I have difficulty paying my bills when I don't (but it keeps my grades up!)

I am truly struggling because I want to focus full time on learning as much as I can and I've been able to get A's in math, writing, art and various other courses but only when I can focus full time on school without working full time.

I've had a rough life from the beginning! I was an unwanted child of teen parents, so I got passed around a lot. I had traumatic childhood, being subject and witness to my mother's drunken escapades and those of her boyfriends. I've been on my own since I was 16, with no family help. Determined to graduate High School, I got a job and rented a room, then graduated nine months pregnant. I had my second child at 20, so I married their father. He shortly thereafter started cheating on me and became abusive. After watching my mother being abused as a child, I vowed to myself that I would never tolerate it, so I left him. He then stalked me and broke into my apartment and strangled me. I had a near death experience, but was lucky enough to come back to care for my children. By the time I was 26, I doubled my family, because I had twins. I thought their father was my soul mate, but low and behold, he cheated on me and then became abusive too. Originally, I took all four children with me and stayed in one room, but it was so tough on my twins, as they were only 3 and weren't allowed to play where we lived. Since their father stayed in the house we were buying, he talked me into letting them stay with him, but it was only supposed to be temporary. Truly, he didn't want to pay child support. He said since I had two children with me and he had two with him, nobody would have to worry about child support. What a joke! He ended up collecting welfare, so the DCSE started collecting child support from me, even after he got married. Here I am single mother, struggling to make ends meet, while he's married and getting child support from me. To make matters worse, my daughters' father didn't pay anything. He’s also remarried. I tried to take him to court, but can't do it, because it brings back PTSD from when he stalked strangled me. One year, my income was $300 too much to get the earned income tax credit, so now I owe IRS $2000. To top it off, I had been struggling at work, due to a neurological disorder and got laid off for a while. After several months, I found another job, but then suffered a closed-head injury and got laid off. I've been unemployed for 4 years now. The child support added up, so now I owe A LOT (like $10,000)! I applied for disability, but they denied me, so I've been trying to do work for myself, but just trying to pay bills to live and care for my daughters has taken all my money, so I've not been able to get the other stuff paid off. Due to my neurological disorder, I can't work in an office environment, as it makes me very ill and I can't function. I'm currently trying to build a marketing and design business, as well as a ministry for the homeless and battered women, but I really need help getting these bills paid down. I'm starting from scratch with my design biz, as my hard drive died and I lost all of my work. I am a very creative woman, with writing, painting, graphic design, marketing and more, and know once I get things off the ground I will really do well. I need assistance getting some of these bills paid down, so I can live my aspirations. I really want my daughters to go to college, but can't support them. I wish to get caught up, so I can be more supportive of my daughters than my family was of me (their support to me was nil!).

hello im 29 male going to be homeless again. i have an intrest in art and music. i need to get up some money for music equipment,i need badly.(So i can make something out of my life) im extreamly creative.I have major depression and anexity problems, been on meds for 12 years. i have a small family that wont help me out at all. they hate the fact that im gay. i try to find a job everyday, but with no luck. if any fellow artist/musicians/angels can help, i would be greatful.I dont want to be homeless again, its a horrible life. im just being honest.

Person who did my 2008 and 2009 taxes got creative (her words not mine) and now I'm being audited for those years. I have to call today to make an appointment with the auditor. I'm anticipating owing at least $3,000. I live paycheck to paycheck and at age 63, am not going to be finding a big paying job (I make less than $29,000 a year at present job) so I can handle another monthly payment.

I'm desperate.....Please help.

I'm in the process of getting a job, but with my wacky schedule, it has proved difficult. I'm trying to come up with creative solutions to make enough money for good food (other than ramen...)Apparently I don't weigh enough to donate plasma....which is a real bummer. I need to change my life. It's just not a good thing, living with your parents in your 30s, but its hard for me to even apply for a job because I've always had anxiety issues. One of the reasons for the anxiety is that I have a droopy eyelid and to correct it, the surgery costs anywhere from $2500 to $5000.

I also probably need a lot of psychotherapy because the same negativity that held me back didn't keep Thom Yorke or Forest Whitaker from persuing things. Granted, in my mind, their eyelids aren't nearly as droopy as mine but I can still see out of the eye with the droopy eyelid, so its pretty much all in my head. Knowing that doesn't really help though.

This horrible self-image issue that I have has very much been a damaging thing in my life, as it may have been part of the reason I dropped out of high school. I say may have because there were so many reasons, most of which could probably be traced back to decisions I made that were influenced by my own perceptions about myself.

What I'm making reference to is, when I was about 11, a girl around the same age as me was sexually aggressive and being a male, you're supposed to see this as a gift but I was terrified the first time it happened but it continued to happen because I thought this was the only person that would ever be interested in me, so I just went along with what she wanted. What she wanted was foreplay and sex and no kissing. It wasn't stated, we never talked about anything, but whenever I tried to kiss her on the lips, she wouldn't kiss me back, which is as creepy as it sounds and would just remind me that this wasn't a loving, caring relationship although I could've gathered that from the way she treated me when we weren't involved in sexual activities, it was just so depressing and it lasted for 4 years.

I had absolutely no control over my emotions and I was just constantly looking for outlets for my confusion, fear and anger which manifested itself in various personalities. I'm not talking actual multiple personality disorder, just that I'd pretend to be these things that weren't me like a gangsta rapper or satanic metalhead, whatever would help me release what I needed to release at the time, in the narrow little box that was that cliche and none of it helped because none of it was truely me. The problem was that different people knew me as different things and I was stuck in those boxes as that person to those people and being in the persona of, say, a gangsta rapper can get you in trouble and I ended up in some scary situations. Playing pretend isn't advisable when no one else is playing.

Anyway, as I've gotten older, I've found better, more appropriate creative outlets and the occasional bit of meditation has balanced me out more, so I'm a little less all over the place but some of the negative self-image is still there and it would be nice to have one less excuse for my anxiety to act up over.

it's getting tougher out there, but there is some hope for me online as a contractor. I graduated with a degree in Digital entertainment, which gave me the skills for graphic design, animation, game design, creative writing, and web development. i also have a previous degree in music Performance. Unfortunately, graduating left me without the programs I need at home to really succeed in the field. I am not in a position to be thinking about getting loans, so I am asking for donations to my dream.
