Car Completely Died, Need New Solution!

Posted by TuckerJ on 2012-05-18 13:58:05

My 1997 Chevrolet has stopped running. I overpaid $2700.00 for it, and now to fix it, it will cost more than it's value. I live far away from my job where I just started working this week after looking for work for more than four months. So in a nutshell, I'm completely broke.

I decided that the safest route to go would be to buy a scooter, as they're more convenient, there's less likely for something to go wrong, and they're cheaper and better on gas. However, I have absolutely no money to buy one, and since I have no vehicle or transportation what so ever, I won't be able to make it to work, and this will only make my situation worse.

I have found some very nice used scooters for $500 on craigslist nearby. I would so incredibly grateful if you could help me with this $500 and I will have NO problem paying you back $100 or more a month via. paypal until I have paid you off. I can't take out a loan because I'm only 20 and haven't developed enough credit to do so (trust me, I've been down that route).

If you do this for me, I will be able to get to work, by groceries, and keep on going until things get better for me. Also, I was recently accepted into Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA and a scooter would be perfect for getting around a place like that.

That's all I need, just $500. I'll pay you back monthly, I'll also give you any information you need in order to prove to you that I'm good for it. I can even set up a contract (if need be) stating that I WILL pay off said vehicle by a certain date.

Thank you very much for even taking the time to read this and consider.

Unfair water bill, lying landlord

Posted by AnnieOh on 2012-05-16 02:58:15

Hi,
We moved into this house a year ago. The first water bill was almost 4x what it should have been for a small family of 3, and was $450 dollars instead of our $80 previous household water bill. We paid it, over the next 6 months, and made sure to use as little as we ever could. We've just got another one saying its $680 this time.
We think there is something dodgy going on. The house is old, very old, and the pipes are rusty. When we told The landlord he sent out his brother who is a plumber, and said that was the end of it. But we think he is not fixing the pipe because it is cheaper for him to just pass on the huge water bills to us.
We are a very low income family, we have an infant son, we can barely afford rent and food, and we have been given 2 weeks to pay or be kicked out. Please help, we have noone else.

trying to make a lifelong dream come true

Posted by chiasm on 2012-05-13 20:58:10

I am a 36 year old single mother of two awesome teenagers and I'm trying to fulfill a life long dream by going back to school.

For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be an archaeologist and history professor as well as wanting to move to Norway since first reading the Prose Edda at the age of 11. Unfortunately those dreams got put on hold when I had my first child at the age of 19 and my second at 21. My children are now 15 and 17 and about to go off to university and begin their own lives and so it is time for me to revisit my dreams. This is going to consist of 3 steps each of wish I need help funding as I do not qualify for student loans/grants and cannot afford to quit my job to be elligible.

As the first step in this process I have been accepted to the University of Leicester to begin work on my BA in Ancient History and Classical Archaeology and am scheduled to begin classes on June 4th 2012 via distance education. In total the 3 year course will cost £10,350 with £1150 installments due every January, May and September 1st. Along with this one module requires me to go to England in year 2 for field school at Borrough Hill as well as a second trip over in year 3 for lab work. There is also an option to make a third trip for the graduation ceremony if funding allows. Each of these trips will cost roughly $2500 - $3000.

The second step in this plan is to complete a Master's degree in Nordic Viking and Medievil Studies at the University of Oslo in Norway. At this time UiO does not have tuition fees however they do require that international students have NOK 80,000 (roughly $13,500) per year of study. And Norwegian law prevents international students outside the EU from working while persuing their studies.

Finally the third step in the process much like the second involves doing further studies at UiO in the form of persuing a PhD in a topic related to Viking Metallurgy.

I have already taken steps to start covering costs on my own by working as much overtime as I can get (though this option is going to be limited once school starts as I will need to focus on school work) as well as moving from the house I was renting to a smaller, cheaper apartment with a roomate to cut costs. Unfortunately these measures alone aren't going to be enough to get me there. Any help you could give would be very much appreciated.

Hopping for a better situation

Posted by Gr8tful4lyfe on 2012-05-09 10:58:43

I am a 32 yr old mother of 3 who has never been in a situation of desperation such as the one I am about to present to you.  Early last year I worked at a job which paid more than enough money to take care of me and my children.  The problem was that the hours were from 3p-3a, which gave me no time to spend with my kids.  My oldest which is of school age only seen me on tue & Wed, which were my only days off, the rest of her time was spent with my sitter.  My job also had me work holidays and sad to say their birthdays as well.  Soon my daughters grades began to drop and my young children no longer wanted to spend time with me.  They cried for the babysitter and soon started calling me by my first name.  I went to my job and pleaded with them for a schedule change, they declined stating that my personal life wasnt their problem and they have 1000's of people who would love to take my place.  So I was forced to make a decision between money and my kids, I chose my kids.  I quit my job after saving enough money to pay the bills for a couple of months while I search for a job with earlier hours.  I felt this shouldn't be a problem due my previous work experience and my associates degree.  The 3 months I had given my self passed by very quickly without me finding new employment.  Because tax time was approaching and my lease was almost up I decided to use my tax money to find a much cheaper home (unfortunately in a much less appealing neighborhood) and use the rest of the money to pay for rent and utilities for another 3 months.  I have no family who can help me out and my kids father is nowhere around.  I have yet to find employment despite the many interviews and applications I have done.  A truck recently cracked the windshield on my car, my tires are bald, and the engine is going bad.  I cannot afford to fix these things and am now desperate to find a job before I lose my transportation. I would love for a great job lead or even an agency which can help me. A small donation would also help and if you send me your email address, as soon as I get on my feet I am willing to pay it back. For those who read this if u know of some job leads please forward it to me, thank you!!

We are tired of struggling

Posted by Tired on 2012-04-24 21:58:32

Hi there - I am 51 and my partner is 57. We have worked all our lives but lost everything, all our savings, in a small business venture 8 years ago. We both work full time and have moved to a remote part of Australia where housing is cheaper as the housing market in Australia is one of the most expensive in the world and we would like to own one before it is too late. Time is fast running out for that to ever happen, due to our ages and income levels. I am terrified of winding up in the public housing system in 8 years, living on the Government pension of approx $585 per fortnight for the both of us. We are also in debt for $22,000 and we faithfully make these repayments each month. We just need a break to buy our own, simple & cheap house, we are both hard workers but our situation long term is bleak. I am so tired of struggling and never getting anywhere and time is so quickly passing by. Any help will be greatfully appreciated. No scammers etc please.

Family of Five

Posted by jhawn on 2012-04-09 21:58:44

We have lived on the Shanandoah mountain for about two years. We found a house cheaper than our three bedroom condo we did have in manassas. Which was a little over a thousand a month. Our three bedroom house now on the mountain is exactly a thousand a mth. Our ultilities aren't rediculous. In febuary my husband lost his job. He made good money. I was just finishing up suceeding CDL endorsment classes. Etc. To become a school bus driver. Which has been the only job for me that's come my way in a year. We absolutely love the schools here. Which my three children are in each this year. Thankfully my husband has qualified for unemployment. The state is helping us with food and medical insurance. We allready surrendered our economical car. Then our only vehicle motor blew up two weeks ago. My husband is great at fixing vehicles. We just don't have the money to do so. He wants to go to an auction because he's not for sure about putting a lot of money into our vehicle. Allthough at the same time. We are behind on our rent. Thankfully we are truely blessed with a patient and very understanding landlord. My husband has been fixing up things that have been going wrong with the house since he's been out of work. He and I both have a good chance at jobs. We just don't have a way to them now. Its mind boggling for the both of us. We only have our cell phones for internet. Fortunately our close friend is letting us use his truck that my husband fixed for him recently to use to get our kids to and from busstop morning and afternoon. This truck though isn't legal. Please send your prayers for us at most. Help

Desperate times

Posted by shawnastillhashope on 2012-02-16 02:58:35

I have never done this before, or even heard of a site like this. I am in desperate need of a lot of things. I have two children a boy age 5 and a girl who is age 11. I am a single mom who lost her job of 8 years. I do own a house but I can't even find rent for cheaper than my mortgage. My sons father left me with a mess. He started to remodel our kitchen over the summer then took off with another woman. I have not had cabinets, sink, stove I do have a refrigerator but that's about it. So even if I wanted to sell my house it would be impossible. He sold all of my old apliances and left me with nothing. I can't afford cabinets. I have a sink I could use and a stove but no cabinets and without them I can't use the sink I have. I have been cooking out of a microwave, toaster oven and one of those little flat top things. I am seriously onthe verge of giving up. My daughter is a cheerleader and they let her do this for free the second year in a rw for me cause she is very talented but she is supposed to go to Daytona Florida in a month and all mt credit cards are maxed out mostly due to eating out without appliances. I don't know what to do anymore I don't have family that gives crap. It would be a miracle to have something good happen to me. I can't be depressed for my kids anymore it's not fair. I need a smile a gift from god!!!! If anyone could help I would probably faint. I have never been this bad off! I never asked for help.

In need of help

Posted by pixiedust on 2012-02-10 08:58:22

My husband and i have hit some hard times recently. We have been together for 7 years but only got married last august and we have 2 young children togetherFirst we got behind on rent which we have been trying so hard to pay back then my husband lost his car (which he needs to get to and from work) due not being able to make finace payments so we had to buy a cheaper car outright in cash which put us behind even further with household bills. We also have been wanting to move for a long while now because ideally we've been longing for a 3 bed house and so that my husband doesn't have to travel so far for work, therefore saving money on fuel. We started applying with local authority housing associations and hve now been offered a 3 bed house in an ideal location. The only problem is we have to move in two weeks and we have to give four weeks notice for leaving our current home and so rent will over lap for 2 weeks which is all we need with already owing rent we need to carpett it in most rooms (taking what carpet we can from current home) and now my husband has informed me that the MOT on his car is going to cast way more than expected. Any help at all would be greatly recieved

PLEASE HELP ME LEARN TO SPEAK TO MY MOTHER-IN-LAW

Posted by rachie-lou1987 on 2012-02-09 06:58:44

Hi everyone,

Thanks for checking out my page. Like everyone on here I'm currently struggling to pay my rent, bills etc and have no money to spare or save. I'm getting married in March to a wonderful Indian man, who lives with me in the UK. His father has recently passed away in India, so his mother will be spending a large proportion of her time staying with us to avoid being alone overseas. My problem is that she speaks little English. I'd love to learn even some basic Hindi phrases to make her feel more at home, but I just can't afford to buy any teach yourself a language at home software. I've some cheaper books which are no help at all. I'd love it if some people could afford to spare a few pounds for me to put towards the Rosetta Stone package to start learning to communicate with my new family.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Kind Regards,

Rachel
I am just a person who has been praying and asking god today to please send someone by to help me with my greatest need at the lowest point of my life. I am 49 years old and I have lived with my parents helping them all I could for the last twenty three years. My dad has been in the nursing home close to our house for the last year after he fell and broke his hip for rehab, I still have hope that I can bring him home soon, he is 78 years old. The reason I say (I) is because me and my mother together tried so hard to take care of him but it was getting the best of both of us especially her. Unexpectedely my sweet mommy passed away this past August 2011. Without her I have been so lost, hopeless and helpless. I am trying so hard to go on, but it is hard. To try and make this shorter I am trying to save our home that they worked very hard to have for 30 years. The mortgage payments are cheaper than rent would be if I move, so I am grasping at anything out there for help. I am asking someone out there to help me with the mortgage payments that are due on it now with attorney fee's of $4000.00 or help in paying it off at $39,000.00. I am not a bum and I have worked since I was 18 years old, but am waiting on my disability from a car accident I had that has left me disabled. I can prove everything I have said in my message and that I am not making this up just to try and scam someone for money. I have just nothing left to lean to and they are going to foreclose for sell by February 27, 2012. I am hoping and praying that someone will see my message, that God will lead them this way. I would be forever so grateful for this help, and am asking from my heart.

i breed tropical fish for a hobby that i hope to expand. i currently have spare males in several different colors.
neon
blue sparkle black
orange
painted
plus a couple of hi-fin lyre-tail males. i also have a few extra blue sparkle black female swordtails to sell.
i am asking $2.50 each. that is quite a bit cheaper than a pet store. i can ship but it will cost you about $30 so you would probably want to order quite a few.
you can email me about it at revdrfaust@gmail.com
i can tell you what i have so you can make an informed decision.

Can't Help Hoping

Posted by SimplyG2X on 2012-01-02 15:58:32

Thank you for taking a moment to read my post. My request is very simple...

I'm a hard working woman who is unable to keep up with my expenses. My employer has had a "raise freeze" going for the past two years, but unfortunately, the expenses are still going up. All of my utilities are past due and I'm currently searching for a cheaper apartment. I've been working my butt off (salary - no overtime) and I still can't make ends meet.

My request is for one frivolous item - a new (used - LG G2X) cellphone. I don't need it, but I would really love to have it. I've been trying to save up for it for over a year, but I end up having to spend the money on legitimate expenses such as food. I feel kind of like that kid in the movie "you'll shoot your eye out, kid!", but I can't help hoping...

Again, thank you for listening.

disowned and nothing to my name

Posted by downnout19 on 2011-12-08 08:58:00

I've recently been disowned from my family, now its up to me to find a way on my own. I'm a full time student and the only break i get is winter break to come up with a concrete way to support myself. I found a job and a apartment but i won't be able to stay because housing closes when students leave.
I'm raising this money to pay for my apartment so i can work here and be able to go to school here which is a lot cheaper than new york. I would even find a way to pay you back if you send me your information. this is my last hope before having to give up all my hopes and dreams. thank you for reading

Getting a divorce from habitual liar. HELP!

Posted by ThisFamilyNeedsHelp on 2011-12-06 13:58:11

Please help! 37 year old mother of a 5 yr old and a 12 yr old is getting a divorce from my habitual liar husband. I thought I married the man I would spend the rest of my life with, I had planned on only doing it once. I do not work right now. I was doing hair when we met and he wanted me to quit and stay home with our son until he started school. I saw that our relationship was heading downhill and not getting any better and decided I need to go back to school to finish my Bachelor degree in Business Management. I am hoping to finish up by July or October of next year, 2012. I want to open my own business so I can support my wonderful children and give them the things they need and some of the things they want. My 2 children and I, along with our 2 small dogs, had to move in with my mother, uncle, grandmother, and brother. We have been here for a year on Dec 10th and have been separated from my husband that long. He has given me very little money for support in the past year, spent all the tax return, took out a loan on my previously paid off vehicle and spent that money, and ended up getting me in trouble with a bad check to our previous landlord. We had a 2007 Dodge Ram Quad cab, I was primary on the loan, he was secondary, and he said he was trading it in for a Chevy Equinox, better gas mileage and cheaper payments. this was 3 months ago. I am now realizing, how can you trade in a vehicle when the other person on the loan never signed the papers? So now I have people calling me saying they are coming after me for the Dodge truck. I have no clue what I'm going to have to or be able to do on that.

He put a bunch of our stuff in storage when we separated, we moved to Missouri with my mom and he moved in with a friend in Iowa and then LOST it, so I don't have a lot of stuff I've worked for and had before we even met. The list of stuff he lost...5 seat sectional with chaise lounger, 37" flat screen tv, PS2 and about 12 games, Wii and 2 games, new surround sound, 5 disc stereo system, new bluray player, box of my season dvds like Smallville, Friends, One Tree Hill and ER, a huge box of my Disney VHS that I had been collecting since high school, nice new short entertainment center, 2 end tables, 2 lamps, washer and dryer, refrigerator, tall dining table with chairs, vacuum, electric can opener, butcher block knife set, corelware dishes, stainless steel pots and pan set, toaster, king bed, bookcase, desk, riding lawnmower, 2 weed eaters, etc. I probably could keep going.

I'm living on the good will and love my family offers and my small student loan refunds. I get NO child support. I am looking to pay off $15,000 in student loans, the $6200 loan on my Tahoe, the $1100 bad check and a couple hundred in lawyer fees, and the $1,400 Target Visa he ran up and let go bad. I need 4 new tires, an alignment, and a new windshield on the Tahoe. I would like to build my children and I a house in the next 3-4 years.

My goals...
~ Finish my BSBA in Management, end of 2012.
~ Thinking about getting my MBA.
~ Open my business, if you are interested I can tell you about it. Looking for potential investors. Working toward fall of 2012, may have to be fall of 2013.
~ Build my kids and I a house, which my mother will eventually come live with us. Right now she is taking care of my grandmother. If my business takes off like I foresee, I would like to build as I have the money so I don't have a mortgage, or put 50% down and get a loan for the rest.
~Be happy in life!

I am an honest Christian woman and I believe that the bills should be paid first BEFORE you go out and blow any money on luxuries such as eating out. He eats out a lot!

If you find it in your heart to help me out, please send me a note with how you would like for me to use the money, 3 choices as there will hopefully be others who can help me, and I can send you proof that that bill was paid. This is new to me and my first attempt at "cyberbegging", which has taken all I have. I am proud and have done many things on my own, so it is very humiliating for me to have to take this route.

I would assume your donation is tax deductible, but you will have to check on that.

If this works for me, I will give back and help out others who need it.

God Bless you and your family. Happy Holidays!

Tuition Troubles

Posted by mymya19 on 2011-11-10 19:58:12

I am a student who dreams of a really good education so that I can earn a degree that will allow me to serve and help others with it, but doesn't see a way of affording such a dream.

I went to a local community college since it was cheaper and now have my AA degree. Now all I want is for a chance to further my education, but I am afraid it will cost way more money than I have or am able to earn.

I had to take off this fall semester to help earn some money, but this will do little help. I can't spare much of my money because of this so I can't afford a car and I have to live with my parents and burden them with my needs. Time is short for me to gain more money so that I can pay for college this spring semester.

I am the first of my dad's side of the family to have ever attended college and one of the few to have a high school diploma. I want to make my family proud by going farther than they did in education.

My parents are much older than normally parents are for a young adult such as me, so they need to save as much as they can for a soon coming retirement. With their advanced age also comes health problems.  My mom has type two diabetes and my dad has severe joint problems and arthritis. These joint issues have forced him to undergo within the last two years a pricy hip replacement surgery and a knee surgery just so he can walk without being in severe pain and so he can continue working. The knee surgery will only temporarily help his knee, and so soon he will need his entire knee replaced as well. With these medical expenses and retirement for both of them in about 5 to 10 years, there's little money left for them to send a daughter off to a university.

I am very ambitious in wanting to someday earn a graduate degree when it is possible, but right now I have to be focused on somehow finding a way to pay for a Bachelors degree.

I refuse to give up my dream of going to a good university just yet, and have came here to beg anyone that reads this to please donate money to me so I can go to college. I was lucky enough to get into this university so please help me so that my dream of going there won't be shattered. I want to earn my degree that will allow me to work in the social service field so that I can help others someday.

I come begging now because I know I will have to beg later on down the road for even more money if I don't get help now to prevent me from taking out big student loans with their interest rates. I welcome any amount you wish to donate. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your donations.

need help to save my home

I am about to lose my house of 11 years because my daughter-in-law and her husband failed to make payments on it. You see, they are living in my home while I rent an apartment because they needed a place to live that was cheaper then what they were paying. They also have 2 children. I received a certified letter saying I have 30 days to come up with $2500 or i lose it. This means that they haven't made a payment in a few months. I am flat broke right now and do not have the funds or help to get this money. Please help. I do not want my 2 grand kids to be out on the street.

Hello, and please help... please read my plea

So Im homeless, and am I unemployed. I tried to come to Edmonton to start over. I thought maybe with the better jobs out here and cheaper rent, I could finally get on my feet. I have had a slue of bad luck this past year. I was laid off, I suffered through an abusive relationship, and then I left her. I bounced from couch to couch for the past 6 months trying to make enough money through part time jobs to get a home of my own. Im so tired. Im so hungry and Im alone. I just want to go home. I want to get back to my family, and I could really use a break, i could really use some help. I felt funny about coming on here, that begging for money was wrong. I just dont have any more options, the desperation is becoming to much. I feel as though Im sinking, I just dont have more more strength to swim.

Need help paying house taxes

Posted by homeowner on 2011-10-15 07:58:58

We live in a small, cheap, dumpy house, but its our home. Its nothing fancy, its small, and we are crowded in here. We are two years behind in taxes because we both lost our jobs last year. My husband was self employed, and the due to the economy in michigan we had to close down. So, no unemployment. I worked two part-time jobs, and lost both of them. again, no unemployment. We have been living off savings, and selling stuff, but it isnt enough. My husband has put in over 150 resume's, I have put in a 103. No one wants to hire people in their 40's and 50's when they can hire someone in their 20's or 30's.

We just got a notice our house will go up for tax sale in March if we dont pay $1,700. We cant get a loan without employment. Our house payment is cheaper than rent, so selling isnt much of an option, especially since the market here is so down, I doubt we could even find a buyer. We don't expect to get $1700 obviously, but even if we could get something to put down on it and buy us some time.

We have three kids, our cars are 13 years old, and we have never bought new anything. We never lived off credit cards or run ourselves into debt. I shop at thrift stores, and coupon for groceries. Its not a matter of wasting our money, but being unable to stretch what we have to cover this. I'm sure there are millions of families just like ours. I promise that if we get help, we will pay it forward once we are back on our feet.

help me and my mentally ill child buy a car

A year ago I was made redundant, leaving me with debts and my son of 13 to cope alone. I was unable to get a full time job due to my commitment to my son and helping him with school,as he is autistic and has adhd, I get very little help for him and have always coped alone. But in order to pay some of my debts and keep food on the table, I had to sell my car 6 months ago. my son is now settled in a new placement but we still have large debts and I am unable to travel with him as his placement is on a farm, this means we have to pay for taxi's as no buses go there, the education dept are making it difficult for us to afford this and it would work our cheaper for me to buy a car and take him, I know this would be less stressful for him and we are not asking for a expensive car, a small second hand one would be so helpful and so appreciated by us both.
