Need money for school + car & rent

Posted by Molly-Rose on 2012-05-21 08:58:21

Hi, my names Molly. I live in central QLD, Australia. I'm currently trying to support myself in my little country town. I'm working my way through Uni to become a nurse and better the lives of others. I'm broke due to school fees + rent. I'm behind about 4 weeks in rent and haven't a clue as to what I can do.
Any help would be appreciated. Lately it's been 1 bad thing after another and I need to get ahead. Thank you so much in advance; <3

A family in turmoil.

Posted by elbeecee on 2012-04-06 04:58:09

I am the eldest daughter of two ill parents. I have 2 siblings who have been the caregivers to my parents for several years now. It all started when my father got ill in 2007 with a need of open heart surgery. After that surgery he was never the same. He was a very successful emergency room physician and made very good money. However, he was off for several months from work due to his recovery period. Much of his savings/investments were depleted as he was the only bread winner in the family. My brother and sister had just gotten an apartment and were to start college when my father got ill. They withdrew from school just as quickly as we moved them into their apartment in order to help my mother take care of dad. My father attempted to return to work, but he was still having chest pain and major depression. In September of 2008 he was in the hospital again and needed heart stents to open up blockages. After that situation he physically could not go back to work. He was weak, depressed, and very withdrawn from life. My mother, bless her heart, tried to find ways to make some cash. She sold many pieces of her jewelry to try and pay bills. Regardless of what she profited, she was unable to fulfill the mounting medical bills, credit card bills, car payments, insurance bills, etc.
It wasn't long before she became gravely ill. In the summer of 2010 my mother had succumbed to kidney failure and had to be on kidney dialysis permanently. She had neglected to take care of herself while trying to take care of my father and their financial woes. Along with the financial woes, there were back taxes that were still owed and of course were impossible to pay, their house was falling apart--still is. By the end of Spring 2011, my mother got so ill and was on a ventilator at least 4 times in a 2 week period due to her lungs filling up with fluid. Finally it was discovered that she had endocarditis (infection in heart)that had ravaged one of her heart valves. This required open heart surgery and replacement of the defected valve. The endocarditis stemmed from an infected temporary dialysis catheter. She was in the hospital for over a month and a half or so. Needless to say she was confused, lost tons of weight, and lost the ability to walk or care for herself. She was placed in a nursing home for rehab, but several more stays in the hospital only made her fall several steps back on her rehab and she never has fully recovered. It was discovered that she also had a tumor on one of her kidneys and her kidney was removed in the Fall of 2011 and supposedly it was all contained and it was early stage renal (kidney) carcinoma (cancer). While my mother was in the hospital my father had trouble breathing and I took him to the hospital. It as discovered he was in kidney failure and they both ended up in the hospital at the same time. Now my father is on permanent kidney dialysis.
Now fast forward to present day April 6, 2012. My mother's dialysis shunt would not stop bleeding and she was taken to the emergency room. She also complained of right leg pain and ultimately she ended up with a CT angiogram. This test revealed she not only had some blockage in one of her arteries in her leg, but that she had metastatic cancer to her liver, lungs, and a site near her spleen. Of course we are devastated.
They have no money. The money they do get is always depleted as soon as they get it from Medicare. My mother's social security check went straight to the nursing home and still was not enough to cover her bill. My father would have to pay over $1,000 a month because Medicare would only pay for several weeks. Since she has been in the hospital now for almost 2 weeks, we have pulled her out of the nursing home because the expected us to pay over $180 A DAY to keep her spot at the nursing home.
Now we are faced with a surgery to fix her leg, a plan for cancer treatment, and no suitable place for my mother to live. Their current home is in shambles and I mean SHAMBLES. Roof leaks and is falling apart. I assume there is some black mold lingering. No central air or heat as their units are broke. Plus large amounts of stuff--my mother also was a hoarder. The house is disgusting and it has been hard to clean up with out major assistance and with constant trips to the hospital who has ample time (?). They live in a small town and it is very hard to simply get a dumpster to throw many items away. The house would have to be completely gutted and redone. The floors are sinking in and it is very dangerous. They don't have the funds to fix any of it and nor do I.
I have missed work several times over the last year and more with FMLA, but never have enough PTO to fully cover my own losses.
My siblings have yet to start their lives. They have been with my parents ever since 2007 to help them with everything. Even when my mother was in a nursing home my siblings and my dad would go see my mom every single day--we just didn't trust the care of the nursing home and rightly so because she developed a bed ulcer on her heel after the wound care nurse said it was getting better--not even close! And yes the blocked artery in her leg and her bed ulcer on her heel are related. The wound care nurse and the Dr. for the nursing home should have caught this medical issue.
So life has been tough, but reading about it doesn't even give it justice. We need financial assistance, a new home or help to fix it--we need a lot of help. I want my brother and sister to finally get on their own feet and do what they want to do. I feel bad for them because I was able to finish college and have a career, a husband, and a home. They have yet to accomplish their goals and it makes me sad and sick to see them so depressed. They are in their late 20s and my parents are both 65 y.o.
If anyone has a kind heart, I promise you I'm not lying. I have proof of all I have written about and I swear on everything--my family, my husband, etc. that this is all real. Thank you for your time and interest. If you can't help at least please pray for us.

I'm trying this BegsList as desperation as I don't know what to do. My wish is to get them a nice clean place to live and live their last years worry free.

I am trying to survive, please help.

Hello, My name is Erica. I am struggling, its enough to make me want to give up my life! yesterday 3/11/12 I went to the hospital due to suicidal thoughts. I don't have any family left. I been with people since I was 13, being abused by men one after the next. beaten and so much more. I try and hang on and hope for a better day. As I type this tears are pouring down my face. I have nothing left and I have been tore down and beaten so much I dont know how to stand. One thing after another has happen to me. I live in a apartment in Central New jersey and I can barley afford it. I just dont know what else to do. If I can get some help in life or someone can hear me out for once that would be the biggest Gift! just to have a chance is all I ask. Please somebody, if you can take time to read this and find it in your heart to help I would be so greatful...Thank you.

Help Sara Beat Cancer

Posted by sarawithcancer on 2012-01-29 12:58:21

On Monday September 12, 2011 the world came crashing down for the parents, siblings, family, and friends of 7½-year-old Sara when she was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma. Although brain tumors are rare in children, Medulloblastoma is the most common malignant central nervous system tumor in children. Occasionally Medulloblastomas spread within the nervous system and/or within the spinal column. Sara is one of those unfortunate enough to have it spread to her spinal column.

Upon receiving this catastrophic diagnosis at St. Helena Hospital that Monday morning Sara was immediately airlifted to Oakland Children’s Hospital. The following day she endured a terrifying 16-hour surgery, which included 3-4 hours of prep time. Doctors removed the brain tumor but Sara still has a long road ahead of her. As soon as she is stable enough she will start seven (7) rounds of chemotherapy which will last at least six (6) months and then undergo radiation to hopefully kill the remaining cancer that looms in her tiny frail body.

Central Heating Repair

Hi, I have a lovely husband and a beautiful little girl but unfortunately we are cold due to out central heating breaking down. My husband has recently had his hours reduced at work so any money that comes into our home is used for the bills. We would appreciate any small donations to make us warm again.
Thankyou in advance.

Trip to Central America

Posted by passionforcharity1 on 2011-09-22 17:58:47

Ever since I was 10, I've always wanted to go abroad in a gap year to help those less fortunate than me. This year, my school has opened a trip to Nicaragua; Central America. The plan is to be help to build schools, bathrooms (sanitary conditions are very unhygienic), playgrounds and water wells as well as assisting in some lessons, such as English. I am 16 and I work very hard in my studies; my mum and all her friends rewarded me for doing well in my GCSE's, I got 8 A* and 2A. But, the school fee's are £3000-£3500 per year and since my sister goes to the same school as me, it's double the price for my mum. She works so hard, she hardly has any time for herself. Which is why I would like to raise money for this trip myself.

I would love to see the grateful faces of the children when we build their new school together and feel the buzz when we start classes for the first time; getting to know them one by one.

I would be so grateful if you could donate to me. I know it's a lot of money, but if you could give any, I honestly couldn't appreciate anything more. This is my dream and has been for years now; to have the opportunity right in front of me, then taken away, would be horrible.

Thankyou for taking the time to read this. If you donate, God bless you.

Im a 23 year old father to my baby son and husband to my beautiful wife. We have been together for four years and recently had a baby boy come into our lives. Ive been on my own since 13 ive never met my father as he cheated on my mom when i was a baby and they went through a divorce. It always stuck with my mom and she lost interest in a lot of things and was depressed She abandoned me when i was about 13 and started dating a drug dealer in modesto i moved in with some of my friends and did the best to raise myself i did a lot of bad things when i was younger i had no role models and did whatever i could to survive and i never got to experience a lot of things like sports baseball football i didnt have money for equipment and stuff and no time i was always busy trying to get money for clothes i used to eat our schools one dollar lunch everyday. By the time i was 18 i met the girl of my dreams at a local movie theater she was from the philipines and was petitioned by her family and was staying with a local governement housing at the time. I started turning my life around for the positive and learned a few trades and took a few classes and workshops for building. at 19 i was working as an assistant to a private contractor i learned everything i needed to know and by the time of 20 i was doing private work myself and at 21 i got my first house with the luck of a friend who worked as a realator. We used to live in the central valley Fresno Ca to be exact and we owned a two bedroom one bath house. We had one truck was a Chevy pickup 1500 i used for work and our family car it was paid off. The economy hit hard in the central valley and many contractors went out of work and the prices of homes dropped and our home was foreclosed as we couldnt make the payment and we lost everything. We remained positive with all the negative that happened and we were homeless for a while we sleeped at a church while selling what little furniture we had from our house and save. At the time my wife was pregnant and we were ready to start our family and everything went wrong. We did what was right kept our baby and after talking we moved to the central coast there was no opportunity in the central valley as a lot of businesses went down and everything was going bad. We moved to another one of the churches branches so that i could get on my feet over in Monterey. I quickly got a job as a Server at a private restaurant after applying for many jobs i dont make much and after a few months our baby was born at this time we were able to get a one room studio its very small but rent is so expensive $750 my number one priority is my son and providing i work three days at the restaurant and on my days off i offer services on craigslist to help fix computers car detailing and early mornings i get up at 6am and go to the local home depot and look for work lots of builders go there and sometimes they need extra help. Unfortunately im younger and rarely get picked compared to older because they dont think im experienced i was lucky to get a few jobs though as side work past few months. My wife stays home and cares for the baby since we have no family to help out she cant work at this time. Im doing my best to provide we have no tv no internet no computer nothing except a bed crib a few cooking supplies and a fridge ironing board and iron but were content. But sometimes work is slow and we had no money for food and we have gone to local shelters for food. We mostely eat rice and pastas since its cheap. We only buy expensive foods for the baby and only have cell phones. I had to sell my truck a while back and have recently got an old small honda i cant even afford to put tires on at this time. Im doing my best and taking day to day with the hope something good will happenen. Work is slow and i have no family at all and my wifes family is very poor in the philipines. I did my best to sumarize my life and try to prove i am a real person in a real situation and im in need at this time. Any and everything helps. My family thanks you.
Hello great people,

Please help donate $4.00 less than a McDonalds happy meal. If we get 100 people to donate then we can get our central A/C fixed and save our two dogs, two cats, and two children, wife and guinea pig from melting in the 100 plus Texas heat inside our house. I have never had to ask for help from fellow Americans before. We greatly appreciate any amount that you can donate. Our family will pay if forward within the community and on begslist in the next 60 days. Thanks and God bless.

Thank you for supporting me as I raise money and awareness for the THOUSANDS of children in central Africa who have been abducted by Joseph Kony and his rebel army. The money I raise will fund The Invisible Children Protection Plan -- a strategy to protect innocent people from the brutal violence of the LRA.

I will be participating in Invisible Children's national awareness event called 25, on April 25th. Thousands around the world will be silent, using our voices (by not using them) to speak out against this 25-year-long war.

Please donate and tell others about my page any way you can: Facebook, Twitter... or even word of mouth (you remember what that is, right? Phone calls. Knocking on doors. Whatever you've gotta do.)

And join me on April 25th, wherever you are, in staying silent for 25 hours. Together, we will put an end to 25 years of war. Sign up at www.invisiblechildren.com

Together we can help these innocent children and their families not have to live in fear. Any donation will help. Living by my favorite quote "Be the change you wish to see in the world." i know i am making a diffrence and you will be too!

Seeking a new beginning

Posted by Hoping1772 on 2010-11-22 15:58:58

First off, I was aware of these types of websites until I started to search the web for financial help. And, I'm not really one to just put myself out there like this. But with struggling times come desperate measures. I'm a 38 year old single female and I've been struggling to stay afloat with my accumulated credit card debt of $30,000. I had a good job that I started working at back in 2000 but because of the economic hardships in California and downsizing of companies I was laid off back in 2008. I was just barely getting by on my unemployment benefits until I could find a job...but the job outlook in California is pretty bleak, especially in my town where the unemployment rate is about 17%. I've been able to stay on top of paying my credit card bills on time but can only afford to pay the minimum which barely touches the actual debt I owe after the interest charges and other fees. It's very discouraging to know that my whole unemployment check goes just to interest fees and I have very little money left over to buy the neccessities for myself. And to make things worse I've exhausted my unemployment insurance and I'm still unemployed. Nowadays, even to work in retail you need some kind of experience relating to the job you're applying for. I borrowed $5,000 from my friend back in August after my checks ran out because I wanted to stay on top of paying bills until I could find a job but still I can't find a single thing. I want to go back and go into being a pharmacy tech...but that means paying for school with money that I don't have :( I've looked into filing for bankruptcy but am scared of losing my house because it's the only memory that I have of my dad. It's my parents' home and when my father died back in 1994 the property was transferred to me. It's not an extravegent house and only has about 750 square feet of living space but it's enough for me. And it does have its flaws like leaking roofs and doesn't have a central heating or cooling system, but still, it is a home and it's livable and but most importantly it's a piece of my dad. I want to get back on my feet, pay off my debt without having to file for bankruptcy because I know that would also affect my job hunting, as companies today also do background checks for potential hires and that would already be a strike against me. I want to fix the leaky roofs in the house and I would like to return back to school to focus on my education. I know that so many people, out of the kindness of their own heart, are willing to help strangres out in need. I want to get my debts paid off because it's stressfully wearing me out and I just don't know who to turn to for help. Any type of donation would help very much and I will be ever so appreciative and grateful for any type of help that comes my way. I would even be elated in getting a telecommuting job if anyone is willing to hire me. Thank you so much for reading my story.
I live in a small historical town in central Oregon called Shaniko. We are the only gas station 56 miles north and 41 miles south. We have a lot of people thanking us for being here. But thanks to our federal goverment we are close to having to shut down our station and store. We have been decieved from day one by the old owners and our local goverment. We have no way of filing a law suit. I pay my taxes and our goverment won't help. This store is my only income to feed my kids. Any thing would help just to keep us alive. I don't have a pay pal account. If you would like to help us and our community please send to P.O.Box 95 Shaniko Oregon 97057

PLEASE help me and my daughter...

I am a 19 year old student at Central Michigan University, and i need 2000 dollars as soon as possible. I gave birth to my daughter, Margot during my first semester at school and my parents wont help me pay for anything. I cant get another loan until next semester and due to baby expenses I am behind on rent and i cannot register for classes for next semester until it is paid. I will get kicked out of my on campus apartment if I'm not registered... please help me. I wouldn't have resorted to this if it wasn't very important.

Need truck fixed for work.

I know I shouldn't do this but I have no choice. I need 2000 dollars to get my truck smogged and tagged and tires. I had a good job welding but I'm laid off due to lack of jobs. I will pay back the money in monthly payments plus interest. I have a new job coming up but I can't get there. If I can't get to this job then I think my fiancee is going to leave me and I won't get to see my daughter very much. Thanks, I really need the help.
