I don't know where else to turn. Just got laid off and supporting my 11yr old, I am 55yr old widow. I was laid off 1/31/2012 and still have not received any benefits til end of march is what I was told. Any monies I have is strictly for my daughter. For food or school supplies. She is not very materialistic which makes her very special to me and knows what I am going through to keep above water. My daughter goes to a catholic school and that is what I am needing help with. I now owe $3,000 for half of last year and rest for this 2011-2012 school year. That is all I really need help with, the little we do have is sufficient. Please help with anything. That school has done so much for her and she enjoys being there. Thank you and may God Bless you all.

Importance of Education-Help!

Posted by catholic75 on 2012-02-08 19:58:47

Hello everyone,

I have tried everything else in attempts to pull together funds for my daughters education at catholic school. We are catholic and this is of the UTMOST importance to me. I have tried to set up a fundraiser website and raised zero dollars in doing so. I have found a job and began working in hopes to save the money for this coming fall. However, I am barely keeping my head above water even with working. I realize that maybe Catholic quality education is only for the financially well off but I want the absolute best for my daughter just as any parent would. I pleaded with my parish priest to allow me to volunteer to offset tuition cost to no avail. I have tried everything except begslist. I wonder if God will give me a MIRACLE here. I sure hope so. Please help in any way you can if you feel you can. The total cost of tuition is $5,000 but what I need immediately is at least $250 to get her seat secured and registration form in. She already had her assessment and scored above the local and national average! Thank you for reading and God bless.

the dog ate my money

This is my first endeavor into cyber begging or what ever they call it. As I was looking at the sites and stories I realized my dilemma is quite small compared to others. I am almost embarrassed to write it but here goes. I am currently homeless, staying in a shelter with a bone disease in my right leg. It is not fatal but it sure does present a not being able to support myself situation. The future while it looks better is still bleak on the money front. My bone disease is not going away for ten years they tell me. That’s it I can not work, I am horrendous medical shape, I am out of funds, I would really appreciate help. I am a nice person though and do my best to help others in what ever small way I can, must be the catholic in me. Retired altar boys rock! God bless you and have a Merry Christmas. Opps Happy New year also! Oh and the dog did not really eat my money but he could use some food.

Help me save my life and home

I am not sure that this will work or that it ever has but I just can't sit back without asking for help. I have been in the hospital with lung problems. I have lost my job to a company that went bankrupt, I have lost my medical which I needed for bad because my husband had a massive heart attack and they had to put 4 stents in he is on all kinds of medicine. I am on 2 different inhalers and oxygen. We have our grandson living with us since he was born because his father was a drunk and drug user. He has now passed away and has left our grandson nothing because he never worked. We are trying to keep our house and a roof over this childs head. I ask God everyday to help me I am devoted Catholic and a strong believer in if you help others then it comes back to you. Well I have helped all my life and now I am asking for some help back. Please I will pay it back a little at a time if you so wish. I am a mother I am suppose to be the strong one. I don't cry in front of the children but they can tell I have been crying. They can't help because they are having it tough themselves. I wish I could help them. Please if there is anyone out there that can find it in there heart I swear I will pay it forward forever. Thank You Debbie

Healthcare provider desperately needs help now/need food for family

Posted by caregiverinneed on 2011-11-02 00:58:50

I am a single mother of three children and I work very, very hard as a registered respiratory therapist. I have always given my last dime to anyone and I have a huge heart. My husband left us with no money, and a huge amount of debt. They have reposessed my car from my employment, forclosed on my house and now they are garnishing my wages. I have been working two jobs, gotten a used car, 2 bedroom apartment for my kids, yay. It is an accomplishment, but I still can't even put food on the table. Their dad has left the state and remarried, left us for good. I have tried United Way, Catholic charities, churches and I am out of ideas. No luck. DHS and my children's school said I make too much money to get reduced lunches or food stamps. I am desperate to put food on my table and sleep with heat. I am at my breaking point. I live in Tennessee and have very little family here and they are not able to help themselves. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and God bless.

Very Sad Single Mom

Posted by ScaredMom on 2011-07-10 20:58:50

I am a single mom, and lost my job almost 2 years ago. I spoke to my lender about getting a HAMP loan modification last year. My lender just got back to me and said they don't participate in the HAMP program. My daughter and I have lived in our home for 15 years, and it is the only home she has ever known. My daughter's father paid for her to go to catholic school, and I put her in high school last year, and promised to pay her tuition before school starts this year. I know this probably sounds like a luxury problem to a lot of people, but having to tell your child that she will lose her home, her school, and I have no idea where we are going to live. She can live with her father, but I know she will be terrified as to where I will live. I have no family, and I know of no one that has any extra money that can help. I've been doing odd jobs just to keep the utilities on, and to buy food. Any pride I may have had left, is now gone. I'm asking for help from anyone, I know that the worst that can happen, is nothing. I'm just hoping there is someone out there that can help.

I THINK MY BOSS WILL HELP....

Trying to keep my kids in Catholic School

Posted by momof4 on 2011-05-26 16:58:29

I am going through a divorce. My kids attend a Catholic school and I am struggling to pay for our everyday things right now let alone their school. I wanted to keep them with their friends to avoid another major change in their lives.

They love their school and once I get back on my feet, I am sure things will be worked out. I just need some help until this divorce is final.

I would appreciate any help with this. I am sure payments can be made directly to the school too.

I am so hopeless, ready to end it all

Posted by CatVetTech on 2011-02-24 20:58:33

I am at the end of my rope. My husband and I are seriously in trouble. We have $68 to our name and when we get paid it will not be enough to pay all the bills we have. Our HOA is going to sue is because of the dues being late. I don't have enough to pay for the health insurance that my husband so desperately needs due to his disease and his prescriptions. He works 12 hours days and I never see him. I work full time as well. His car needs fixing immediately. His check engine light is on and he needs to fix the car before he gets it inspected and renews his registration, which are both overdue. We are also going through bankruptcy because of over $30,000 in debt and can't afford to pay the lawyer yet. I am Catholic but my faith is being challenged. I feel God is punishing me and that my prayers fall of deaf ears, I also have lost faith that there are any caring people out there. No one will help. I am so depressed and have had to take my anxiety meds constantly. Sadly I have been tempted to take the whole bottle. I am 33 years old, totally in debt and have no social life, no kids, no future except the same struggling we have been doing for pretty much the whole 11 years we have been together. Please, please is there someone out there who can help restore my faith in humanity and in God? I want to think there is good out there but lately all I see is bad. I need help urgently before I totally give up. I am badly in need of a life raft here because I am drowning. Thanks for reading.

Can someone PLEASE help us?

Posted by CatVetTech on 2011-02-20 21:58:23

I am a 33 yr old married woman who needs financial assistance. Our financial trouble began when my husband lost his job 3 years ago. He has a connective tissue disease called ankylosing spondylitis which leaves him in constant pain, and that made it hard for him to get a job. He was denied disability. He was on unemployment but it was not enough and I had to use my credit cards for bill and food. We started the bankruptcy process several months ago. Unfortunately, we have not been able to pay off the lawyer yet to finalize the case, so I get collection calls constantly, and I can't afford to lose my job. My husband finally got a job a few months ago, but it is low paying. I have been paying hundreds every month for health insurance because I do not have it at my job. We spend hundreds on prescriptions. Now, in the midst of all this, my husband's car needs repairs that will cost about $700. He has to get it fixed asap because his inspection and registration are overdue. This is my biggest worry right now. That, and paying off the lawyer. Is there anyone who can help? We are Catholic and used to go to Church faithfully but we stopped when everything kept going wrong. I am finding it hard to keep my faith. I suffer from depression and anxiety and often wonder if there are good people in the world. Are there? Is there someone who can spare a little money? Please, if you help, I can show proof of my financial problems. I do not want to con anyone. I just need help. My husband and I do not have any kids but we want to someday. I often feel that things will never get better and that we will never be able to afford kids, when I want them so badly. Can someone help us out of this rut so we can work towards our future goals and dreams? Any help will be forever appreciated.
I have never in a million years thought I would do this. I believe in hard work and earning and making your own way through life.
My husband works hard to put food on the table for us. He was laid off in September, and was lucky enough to find a job just recently, but the lay off spiraled into debt and late mortgage payments.
I myself have been looking- but nothing pays enough to be able to put my 3 year old in any type of daycare. It's so sad that I can't go to work to help my family out because the cost of daycare would eat up nearly an entire paycheck.
Right now, I'm interning, but won't be able to complete it for another year. I have been lucky enough to be able to bring my child with me.
We are two months behind on mortgage and car payments. If my husband didn't take such a significant pay cut, we would be all right. But such is not the case.
I have an electric bill due on Monday- with a disconnection notice. I can't even pay it on Monday. I've exhausted all options: state funded help programs, Catholic Charities and my local township. No one will help because we are just above the cut off salary.
I don't like begging. I don't like taking. But I finally decided to use this option and hope you can help my family out.

Pursuit of Education

Posted by JSmith on 2010-06-30 16:58:58

I was three years old when I began my educational career. My mother had petitioned for my acceptance into kindergarten because my birthday fell a week after the cut off date. The school accepted me though they were adamant because I was believed to be too young for kindergarten. I was sent home after my first week of school. "Mrs. Wilson, Jewel will not be able to continue kindergarten unless she is properly potty trained." My mother called me into her room. "Jewel, your teacher said you can't go back to school until you go to the potty." I never missed a day of class unless it was out of my control after that conversation.

My name is Jewel Smith and I am nineteen years old. I became one of five children after my mother's marriage. Now, I am the oldest of three in our household and my mother is a single parent. When asked, "What is your favorite activity?” most children would respond with a sport, videogames, or TV show. My passion is learning. I enjoy all subjects from sciences to literary works.

My mother strives to give only the best of education for my siblings and me. She made it very clear that we had to work as a team in achieving this goal. I attended a private catholic all girl high school through scholarship and financial assistance. I knew my mother couldn't afford tuition for my siblings and me. During my high school career, I excelled in AP/honors courses, maintained a high GPA, and participated in numerous organizations. Many people in my neighborhood believed I wouldn't "survive" in my high school setting because for the first time I did not attend a school with students who were of my racial or economic class. However, I was able to push through adversity even when it threatened to take my mother's life away during my junior year of high school. My mother's lung collapsed and some doctors stated she almost didn't make it. During my high school career, I learned people could cultivate their differences and come together as one entity regardless of race, class, or gender. I was able to maintain over a 3.5 GPA during my senior year and built a strong support system with faculty, friends, mentors, and family members.

I currently attend DePauw University in Greencastle, IN as an incoming junior. I have a declared major in English Writing with a possible second major in Spanish. I maintain a "B" average. I was granted a large package with my school that covers my tuition and some room and board. Unfortunately, the left over balance is still too much for my mother and I to afford. I was informed that I must pay the left over balance of $6,700 as well as my incoming fall balance of $4,000 in order to continue my education at this institution.

I believe that everyone has a special gift that helps the world become a better place. At five years old I knew I wanted to serve others as much as I can. My ultimate goal is to give back to my home community as well as those who are less fortunate in the world through education. It is through this letter that I ask for your help. I want to continue my educational career through undergraduate and graduate studies. I ask that you partner with me so that I am able to make my dream a part of reality. Thank you in advance.
