Post a Beg Now!

Family of 5 (Soon to be 6)

Posted by jemstone on 2012-05-16 10:58:06

My wife and I have 3 children with another on the way. A few years ago I was a successful insurance and annuity agent, but the downturns in the economy forced me to get out of that line of work. I am working 3 jobs, putting in as many hours as I can, but with some recent medical bills we have gotten behind. Currently, we are totally broke, and our cabinets are getting pretty empty. We are a month behind on water and electric bills, our phone bill, and our student loans, and it is another week before I can expect any paycheck so I can get to the grocery store and catch up on a few bills. We don't have health insurance, and my work doesn't offer any group plan, so we have had to go on Medicaid for the kids and my wife's pregnancy. We have always been hesitant to seek out government assistance, but last month we found ourselves with no food to eat and behind on all our bills. We applied for SNAP (food stamps), but were told that we make $150 per year too much because of all the jobs I am working. I'm exhausted, but I would work more if I had any hours left in the days to get extra work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Desperate times

Posted by shawnastillhashope on 2012-02-16 02:58:35

I have never done this before, or even heard of a site like this. I am in desperate need of a lot of things. I have two children a boy age 5 and a girl who is age 11. I am a single mom who lost her job of 8 years. I do own a house but I can't even find rent for cheaper than my mortgage. My sons father left me with a mess. He started to remodel our kitchen over the summer then took off with another woman. I have not had cabinets, sink, stove I do have a refrigerator but that's about it. So even if I wanted to sell my house it would be impossible. He sold all of my old apliances and left me with nothing. I can't afford cabinets. I have a sink I could use and a stove but no cabinets and without them I can't use the sink I have. I have been cooking out of a microwave, toaster oven and one of those little flat top things. I am seriously onthe verge of giving up. My daughter is a cheerleader and they let her do this for free the second year in a rw for me cause she is very talented but she is supposed to go to Daytona Florida in a month and all mt credit cards are maxed out mostly due to eating out without appliances. I don't know what to do anymore I don't have family that gives crap. It would be a miracle to have something good happen to me. I can't be depressed for my kids anymore it's not fair. I need a smile a gift from god!!!! If anyone could help I would probably faint. I have never been this bad off! I never asked for help.
It all started 5 years ago on June 17, 2006. . .a day I will remember for the rest of my life. It was the day before Fathers Day and we were driving with our 14 month old son to his grandmothers house when and SUV ran a stop sign slamming into us causing our vehicle to roll landing upside down. They say my fiance (my sons father) was partially ejected and killed instantly.

He didn't have life insurance, and since we were only engaged, there were no survivors benefits and so it was just me, my 14 month old, two dogs, and an old house built in 1927 and a laundry list of repairs that needed to be done.

After my fiance died, I think a part of me just shut down. There was so much to deal with. . .working full time, being a single parent with no support. All my family lives 6 hours away, and my fiances family never wanted anything to do with us and after the accident all communication stopped and I was alone.

So, I shut the doors to the upstairs of our two bedroom Cape Cod, and made my bed on the Living Room couch so that I could rock my son in his bouncy chair everytime he woke at night. . .on average 4 times a night.

I did the best I could over the years. During all this my Dad was a huge emotional support for me. We talked every day, he encouraged me to stay strong and I did the same for him (he was diagnosed with milodisplastic syndrome in 2005)his blood transfusions really took a toll on him and his physical weakness really depressed him. I know he worried about me alot because I would always call him for advise on how to fix things or ask him questions about car stuff. He was my rock and he died October 4, 2008 from complications with pneumonia. He was buried on his birthday October 8 when he would have been 56.

His death is still hard to handle. My rock my best friend and advisor was gone and now I realized I was truly alone. Not only did I not have anyone to help me with my son, or with the house or the car, but now I didn't have anyone I could really talk to that could just listen and be my guide.

All this happened so suddenly. My now 3 year old son and I stayed up North for a week after my Fathers death. There was a lot of planning and funeral arrangements to be made that during the midst of all this, 6 hours away in my little Cape Cod were the two dogs. . .Joe, a shepard and chow mix, and Rex, a shepard and Rotti mix left to their own devices. All I could do was pray that the damage wouldn't be too terrible.

I tried calling a neighbor to check on the dogs, but in our unexplained absence the dogs became extremely protective of the house and wouldn't let anyone it.

When we finally came home, there was definately a mess. I had to rip up all the carpet by myself the stench was horrible and the dust and dirt under the padding from 10 year old carpet caused more than one sinus infection. After a month I had all the carpet ripped up and have not been able to replace it.

After working and saving and with help from my Mom, in 2009 I was able to hire a Contractor that had been highly recommended to me by a friend of mine. He raved about how great they were and what a good job they did for him. We had a contract for about $19,000. This was to replace all the windows, replace the kitchen cabinets, new countertop, appliances, paint, everything the house needed after being neglected for over 10 years. So they came and painted and left. Six months later they came back with 5 of the 13 windows, installed the windows, but left the casements on the inside open and torn leaving exposed the Lead Paint and the original wood framing. Then in August 2009, they had the kitchen cabinets delivered to my house and they were stored outside on the porch. I called and called to find out when they would be put in, and no response. They stayed outside through the Fall and through the winter when we got three feet of snow and I called and begged and sent text messages and one day their phone number was disconnected. Then in June 2010 they called me!! They would come install the cabinets. So they came and tore out the stove and the kitchen sink and installed the cabinets and put a slab on granite down so I could have a work area and said they would be back with the stove and dishwasher and sink. They never came back. So I had kitchen cabinets and no stove, no sink, no dishwasher. Then in July, Rex, the Rotti Shepard mix got really sick. The vet said he was starting kidney failure. They kept him and did IV treatment and got his kidneys functioning and they said he need a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice. I had no stove. I tried calling the contractors I yelled, I begged, I sent text messages and finally out of desparation I went and bought the cheapest stove I could just to be able to boil water for my dog.

The dog survived, but his survival was short lived. In October 2010 on the anniversary of my Fathers death, I had to put the dog to sleep. He was suffering from the samething my father had. He couldn't produce red blood cells anymore and would have to live off of blood transfusions. One of the hardest choices I've ever made.

Now here we are in 2011. Memorial Day I almost lost my now 6 year old son in a near drowning incident at a friends pool. Thank God the husband knew CPR and was able to revive him. He stayed overnight in ICU for monitoring but he is now a happy healthy 1st grader.

Me. . .I'm barely keeping it together. I can't afford to take care of my home. The carpet was never replaced and there is a horrible draft in the Winter and the Lead Paint is still exposed. The upstairs windows are leaking and there are water spots on the ceiling. There is a 4" crack in the basement foundation wall that goes all the way down the wall and across the basement floor to the other side of the house. I was told that the footing is slipping and that it was only a matter of time before the house caved. The gutters are falling off the house from age and the deck rails are falling off. I fear for our safety, but mostly, I'm afraid for my son. I want to give him a safe and healthy environment, but I need help.

Please, if there is anyone out there that can help us, I would be eternally grateful. In the meantime, I will keep praying and belive that everything happens for a reason.
My girlfriend will be returning from the military soon and I'd like her to come back to a house she would like to live in. Except this place needs help, a lot of it. The carpet is thrashed, the garage doors are falling apart I won't risk opening one of them for fear it will disintegrate. Someone did a BAD paint job done to all of the trim and kitchen cabinets, try as I might, I just can't polish that turd. Lots of little things that just need money, time and sweat. I've put in the time, I've given the sweat, I just don't have the money to fix and replace things that are beyond patching and cleaning. I want to ask this girl to marry me, but I just can't do it till I have a home that would make her happy to live in.

Support a Classroom

I am a teacher who got moved to a room with little to no storage for the student's backpacks as well as storage for everyday classroom use items. I am wanting to put in home heavy duty lockers and storage cabinets that will stand the test of time. The only problem is that they are expensive and I am on a teacher's salary. Anything would help!

Hello, my name is Jon. I really don't know what to say. I would love to give you my whole life story, but i feel it would be a waste. I could give you my recent happenings, but you would need to know the story before hand to fully appreciate my situation now.

What i will say is this. I am a 28 year old male that lives in Texas. I am a hard working man that is taking care of his sister and her baby, my 4 year old nephew. Up until the past couple weeks i have held a decent job, but was unable to save any money. With the rising gas prices, a minimum round trip of 90 miles a day and food for 4, the 1400 a month i made at my job was just barely enough to keep up. The 4th person was my brother, he recently volunteered to move in with a friend of his to help out. My sister and I do not have this luxury. So the 2 of us are about to starve/become homeless, if something doesn't go our way soon. The reason for the dilemma is 2 weeks ago (April 15th) I lost my job. I have 2 pay checks to survive on until i find a job, which rent($550) is due on the 1st and the utility bill($150) is overdue. I we have a total of $730 with no source of income, family members are in tight situations, the job market for our skills is seemingly filled and we don't know where to turn. We live 10 miles from the closest city we both only have about an 1/8 of a tank of gas, neither of us have car insurance anymore as they have lapsed, and only my sister has a phone now (paygo phone with 3$ left on it *3 days of use max*). I don't know where to turn. I normally have a few months of living cost saved up but with such a small paycheck supporting 4 people i was unable to do so.

I'm not even asking for money exactly, and even though it would be GREAT, a job would be BETTER! I'm willing to do anything! NO SHAME! If any of you have anything you need done online I might be able to do it! If you live near or in the east side of Dallas(we live outside of the metro area by about 30 miles)I'm willing to keep your yard up, wash your car, pick up trash, clean horse stalls, build a deck, build cabinets, dance around to humor and entertain... It really doesn't matter to me at all what it could be. But if not, money is the next best thing. FOOD!!! Food would be a HUGE help! Heck, I would work for food! (Unlike those people you see at intersections).

If you are able to help us at all with anything it would be greatly appreciated! The things we need are Food, Rent, utilities, gas, phone and internet too as it would aid in job seeking. Neither of us have outstanding debit or owe anyone money. We have lived by the saying "Live by your means, not your wants." which is probably the most important pieces of advice i have ever received while growing up.

Thank you,
Jon

please help my mom!!!

Posted by helpmymom on 2011-04-04 22:58:14

my mom has recently became mentally ill and very depressed, she has been in and out of the ER and mental facilities. me and my sister have been struggling to get her house paid off she has worked very hard her whole life and I would be devastated if she lost her home considering she only has $2500 left on her loan. she has experienced a very sad childhood and thats probably why she has been having so many mental problems recently shes only 49 years old but yet she has lived a very painful life, when she was a young child she seen her mother take her own life, along with very abusive behavior from her mother towards her and brother, my mom would tell me horrible stories about her and her brother being toddler aged would have to hunt for food in the cabinets because there mother was to sick to fix them something to eat, so they would eat a bottle full of chewable vitamins because they were so hungry. there mother had epilepsy which caused very bad seizures, and I guess she just couldnt take the pain anymore so she ended her short life at 29, after this tragedy my mom and her brother where in and out of different foster homes. but that didnt discourage her from being the best mother to her children, and a wonderful independent women, she raised her children by herself without any help from anyone not even from the gov., she help everyone she possibly could she cleaned a sweet old ladys home once a week because she was sick with cancer, another older lady thats shes close too, she felt bad for one year because she told her she was upset because she couldnt afford to buy her grandbabies Christmas gifts that year, so my mom searched all the goodwills to gather toys for the lady’s grandbabies and surprised her with the toys that Christmas! My mom could do anything on her own before she got sick, she could work on her own vehicle, sew up clothes, drapes, anything, she’s an artist, there’s nothing she couldn’t do, Im just so distraught to see her like this she was always so strong but now I think all those bad moments in her life has caught up with her, please help me pay off her home.
Please if anyone can spare anything it will help. I have been off work because of the birth of my son, and have gotten so far behind I am about to lose everything. He is my first child, I adopted my two daughters when my husband and I got together. I am worried that the power is fixing to get shut off, the house payment is due and the cabinets are looking bare. My youngest daughter doesn't even have a winter coat. We are trying to survive, I am back to work but no paycheck as of yet. Please I pray for a miracle every day.

Hard working couple with three kids needs help!

Posted by tabbyp on 2010-11-19 23:58:58

My husband works two jobs, one just to have health insurance. My 18 yr old daughter just enlisted in the Army and can come home for Christmas, but I don't know if we can afford. My husband is 56 yrs. old and works a day job supervising cabinet installation. We don't know from day to day if this company is going to stay in business for long. My husband even helps sell to builders. He works at Home Depot at night and weekends just so we can have health insurance. This man is such a hard worker, he had a kidney removed due to Cancer and went back to work after 3 weeks because things weren't being run right by the guy he left in charge. Construction is so iffy in California as it is everywhere and we need to buy a house so he can slow down. We just don't have the down payment due to the rent being so high where we live. We don't even want something big. A payment would be way lower than rent. We sold our house and moved to Alabama to give our kids a better life, but couldn't make it with the wages back there. The money we got from the sale of our house in 2004 dwindled away on rent and a vehicle. The vehicle has now died and we also need a new car. We can't afford it because we have a car that our daughter is driving and it is too expensive for her or us. Please help! We will be homeless and car less soon. I didn't mention that the cabinet company cut his pay by 1,000.00 a month, a year ago. I'm not going to beat around the bush, we honestly need about 200,000.00 to get in a decent place in our lives. Then my husband can, maybe, slow down and enjoy life. He's been working in cabinets since he was 16. He used to be in the union, but most cabinet shops went non union years ago.
