My husband was diagnosed with multiple myeloma three years ago. He underwent a bone marrow transplant, and is currently not working. Any help with our constant medical bills would be most appreciated. Thank you so much.

Hello...I desperately need your help. My fiance and I have been together for the last five years. Three years ago he was working as a volunteer coach for a soccer team and the school he used to teach at. One day in soccer practice he jumped for a ball, lost his footing, and fell on his neck. He fractured a vertebrae which left him in excruciating pain. To make matters worse, as the bone healed it left a bone spur at the base of his head that pushes on the nerve bundle next to his brain stem. Gradually, as the spur grew bigger it made him paralyzed from the neck down. We have obviously put our wedding on hold to deal with this unfortunate fate. I work three jobs just to make the minimum payments on his medical bills and I take care of him whenever I am not working.
Because of the proximity of the bone spur to his brain stem, no doctor in the U.S. will touch it to operate on it. However, we have consulted with a doctor in Germany that practices surgery like this every day. He says with the surgery my fiance would be able to regain the use of most of his body with a lot of intensive physical therapy. But...the surgery costs right around $25,000 which might as well be 25 million. I spend every penny I make just barely scraping by. I know this surgery would give him back his freedom and his ability to live the way he always dreamed. Please help us...every little bit counts. I appreciate anything you can do.

Bone Marrow Transplant

Posted by janee on 2012-05-01 14:58:15

I am in need of a bone marrow transplant. My doctor who goes to our church says the entire procedure will cost about $700k but he will do the entire procedure for $525k since he won’t charge his fee. God bless this man. I have since been able to acquire $75k by placing my mother’s home on the market and have her move in with us. That was nine months ago and now my situation is getting worse. Dr. Grant says that I have almost 4 months left of life if this procedure is not performed and I am desperate. I am only 21 and I don’t have any kids, I don’t party, I am not promiscuous. What did I ever do to deserve this? My next birthday is in December and I may not live to see it. Don't know what else to say.

To all who donate, may God bless you.

Thank You so very much for your help. Heres my story. I am in my early 30s. I am a mother of two loving kids ages 4 and 9. My husband moved out a year ago after a bout of depression, stating "I love you thats why I cant stand to stay here n watch you die like this!" And it is true anyone who has watched a loved one waste away before thier eyes can tell you it eats your soul. In a way I cant blame him. I have hopes we will someday get our family back together. Untill then I am in this alone, and now find my self here asking you for help.
I have several cronic illnesses. Including scoliosis:Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine that occurs most often during the growth spurt just before puberty. While scoliosis can be caused by conditions such as cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy, the cause of most scoliosis is unknown. My scoliosis curve got worse, the spine rotated and twisted, in addition to curving side to side. This caused the ribs on one side of the body to stick out farther than on the other side. Severe scoliosis can caused back pain and difficulty breathing. In my case In severe scoliosis, the rib cage may press against the lungs and heart, making it more difficult to breathe and harder for the heart to pump.I also experience harsh neurological affects of Muscle weakness, Numbness and Abnormal reflexes. To save my life I had to have surgery.
Surgery involves correcting the curve (although not all the way) and fusing the bones in the curve together. The surgeon lays bone grafts across the exposed surface of each vertebra. These grafts will regenerate, grow into the bone, and fuse the vertebrae together. The bones are held in place with one or two metal rods held down with hooks and screws, helping to support the fusion of the vertebrae.I went through all this at age 13. But now with the onset of sevral more cronic illness complication from the surgery that once saved my life now slowly kill me.
Years later I began getting sicker and sicker by the time I was 20 my spine was degenerating causing horrible pain, I had to have my appendix removed, then gallblader went bad. We never dreamed these all had a common factor. Doctors just shook their head proclaiming :you are just so young for your body to be failing like this". Eventually it was discovered I have Lupus and severe arthritus. Lupus is an autoimmune disease, meaning that the body' s immune system mistakenly attacks healthy organs and tissue. Lupus can affect any part of the body, causing inflammation and damage in joints, skin, kidneys, heart, lungs, blood vessels, or the brain. More than 90% of people with lupus have skin rashes, often triggered by exposure to the sun, and about half have kidney and lung problems. Because lupus affects the joints, it is considered a rheumatic (arthritis) disease.
Upon this discovery things began to make sense. So doctors now knowing why began a body wide check up to see what all has been affected. One test was A bone mineral density (BMD) test measures how much calcium and other types of minerals are present in a section of your bone. Your health care provider uses this test, along with other risk factors, to predict your risk of bone fractures in the future and detect osteoporosis. Bone fracture risk is highest in people with osteoporosis. They found I indeed had osteoporosis at the age of 22. SO now My bones are weaking causing damage areas all over my body, but the most serious being in my spine. Now comes the arthritis/lupus, they see these damaged areas and my own imune system attacks. Eating at the damaged areas creating even more damage, which increases the area the lupus attacks. It is a vicious circle. I have now been treated with medication over 10 yrs. But they can only slow the illness there is no cure, and dure to my scoliosis and the metal rods in my back surgical treatment options are very limited.
The damage is so severe I was decared legally disabled by the age of 23. My only income is SSI. I have to support my children and I on 658.00 a month. Thank God the court issued my ex to pay my rent in lue of child support. I am asking for help to cover upcoming medical bills. In the last 14 months I have had 5 seperate kidney surgery. My right kidney is damaged and I will soon be having a 6th surgery. This one to remove damaged section of the tube that leads from the kidney to bladder. then they will reattach at a higher section of bladder. I will aslo be having several Jaw surgeries. Due to exposure to radiation, osteoperosis a excessive vomiting of stomache acid my teeth are breaking and falling out. The doctor needs to repair what they can and put in inplants for what they cant. This will slow the degineration of my jaw. Without this treatment my jaw is going to cave in. Currently I am only able to eat mushy foods. I have drastically lost weight and my body is stuggling to heal due to the stress, pain and infection. So I hunbly beg of you to help me 1.00 or 50.00 anything would help. These procedures will not only improve my quality of life but aslo help extend my time here on earth just a little ehile longer. I just want to be with my kids as long as I can.Whith each dollar you donate its like adding an hour to my life.....What would you give for a few more hours with the ones you love?

Please help me LIVE a little bit longer.

Medical bills or car repair

Posted by LionLand on 2012-03-24 01:58:50

I am a 48yo male. I have about $3000 total in medical bills. I have had a heart condition since i was 21. About 15 years ago I went for heart surgery and got a staph infection in my chest. I was in the hospital for months fighting this and was told I would not live. I am lucky to be alive 15 years later. However the staph damaged my heart. It enlarged it and over time I developed heart failure in 2004. Then I became diabetic in 2005. The staph also destroyed bone in my chest. I had to have my sternum removed. I also developed irregular heart beats leaving me dizzy most of the time. This left me disabled on Social Security and medicare (which I appreciate but dont like being on "the system .. its wrong). Before this I always work 60 to 100 hours a week. Which also contributed my poor health. In 2008 I had my second heart attack (a minor one). It was actually lucky for me. Doctors installed a defibrillator with pacing technology. My dizzy spells were finally under control. Since then I have been working hard to build strength so I can go back to work and have a normal productive life. My car ..is no longer road worthy. Needs about $2300 in repairs. Now I have trouble making appointments to my Cardiologist, primary care Physician and physical therapy. This year i have missed 6 doctors appointments and had to stop all therapy. I also have trouble picking up medication on time so i go with out them sometimes up to a week. I get $1500/mo from Social Security. $96 of that goes toward medicare insurance premium. My rent is $500/mo. My medications are $400/mo and that is with prescription help. With out that help my meds are $1476. My utilities run $400/on average. The rest I spend on food, car insurance and medical bills ($3000 which i pay $25 to $100/mo when i can). I am asking for any help. If I don't get help my health will continue to decline. I will die within a year or two. I just starting gaining muscles back in my legs and arms I still have a long way to go. I need to get cardiac therapy to make my heart stronger. It isn't something I can do at home because I need to be monitored the whole time. Please help. Time is important I have already lost 5 months of therapy and i am getting weaker. I beg you. Please.

I just need a break

Posted by justneedabreak12 on 2012-03-22 17:58:20

It all started in January when we put my grandmother back in the nursing home because she almost died. About a week later found out my mom was having surgery. Then my child broke a bone and needed immediate surgery. 5 minutes after her surgery found out my mom had cancer and needed another surgery. Her surgery was postponed and we couldn't figure out why. My grandpa was in a car accident and released from the hospital only to pass away in his sleep that night. So we figure the postponed surgery was God's way of making sure my mom was there for the funeral. My mom had her surgery and they did manage to get all the cancer. I've had to miss work. Our bills have suffered. Now my job has cut back everyones hours. My husbands job has cut down his hours. We are in jeopardy of being evicted. We keep doing all we can and it's almost like 2 steps forward 10 steps back. We would appreciate any help that can possibly be given. I promise to pay it forward as soon as we get on our feet! Thank you!

I am a struggling 18 year old mom of a 3 year old boy. He is the highlight of my whole day. When he was 9 months old he was diagnosed with AML. I have done everything i can as a parent to fight this disease with my son. I have gotten myselfina ton ofdebt due to hospital bills. The worse thing is that my son was cancer free from 1 1/2till 3 weeks before his third birthday. He started acting really quiet and not really wanting to walk. I put him down for a nap and started seeing bruises on him. I took him into the hospital and they told me that he had relapsed once again. this was devasting news since i am ready so behind in medical bills. They told me that he needs a bone marrow transplant. We are currently on the waiting list for a tansplant and he is at the childrens hospital recieving chemotherapy 3 times a week through iv.I am just asking for any money that people can givetohelp me catch up on these medical bills. I am currently in nursing school and i have a highschool diploma and a job and i still can no even make a dent in my medical bills. I am just asking for any help to help me make a decent dent.I want tojustwake up with something less on my shoulders i really cant struggle anymore. I have so much pride i wouldnt be here if i didnt need help. Please anything you can do to help and if you can not help please all i ask is you keep my son in your prayers

If I get the help I need from here I PROMISE when I go back to work I will come back here and help people DOUBLE the amount of help I got. Unfortunately if I don't get help my health will go backwards. I will die within a year or two. I just starting gaining muscles back in my legs and arms I still have a long way to go. I need to get cardiac therapy to make my heart stronger. It isn't something I can do at home because I need to be monitored the whole time. Please help. Time is important I have already lost 5 months of therapy and my legs are getting weaker and i am getting weaker. I beg you. Please. But if prayers are all you can give I will appreciate that also. God Bless you all and your families.

Veteran Husband recently passed away, no where to turn.

Hi
My husband, who is a Vietnam vet, passed away recently (October 8th, 2011) from Bone and Lung Cancer at home. First of all, he wanted to spend the rest of his life home with me and our pets (three Mini Dachshunds and two kitties). Also, the VA wouldn't be able to control his pain enough so that he could enjoy the remainder of his life so he went under Hospice care. They strive for quality of life and they were amazing.

The problem with that was that when you die at home, the VA covers nothing at all. Had he died in the VA they would've covered his funeral expenses. We didn't have life insurance. He had started a policy, but the bill for the first payment came in on Monday, the 10th. He died Saturday the 8th.

He died here at home and then was placed in the funeral home morgue until we could come up with enough of a down payment for his funeral (I believe it was $2000.00) I still owe something around $5,000. He stayed in that morgue for around three weeks before we could gather up that money. Not a good way to treat a vet at all.

I had left my job to take care of and be with him until he died, this is what he wanted. We didn't have insurance or any kind of state medical help. We lived on his disability check that he received monthly. There are no survivor benefits, VA or Social Security I've been told either. We had only been married a year. We have been together since 2002, but got married Sept. 21, 2010. We had our first anniversary a couple weeks before he died. As far as I know, SS people have told me we must have been married for ten years in order to get any kind of survivor benefits.

We had sold our boat, truck, and spent any money that we had toward our living expenses and to help with down-payment on funeral.

Now, I'm back to work but it is part time, I make $7.50 per hour (sometimes as little as 20 hours every two weeks). Telephone survey taker. I don't qualify for state help other than food stamps.

I've been looking for work since he died and not getting any responses at all. I am on the Michworks website numerous times a day, every day besides checking the local papers, and any other things I can think of.

Right now as I write this, I am due to lose our home (we rented this for the last nine years). My rent was due on the first. I have borrowed money, sold household items, and gotten help from the area charity places that I could. Every month has been a struggle and every month I think "okay, I've gotten the rent paid this month and I SHOULD have a new job by the next time the rent is due", but sadly it is not working that way. I don't know what to do anymore. I'm beginning to lose faith. I absolutely cannot get rid of our pets either. I promised I would never let anything happen to them and I wont. Besides, they are our little ones, our family that we had together. They are also what is keeping me going. I cannot imagine life without them and him too.

I am at the end of my rope now. I didn't want to resort to this and it really is a blow but I don't know what else to do anymore.

I hope that there is someone out there that will read this and be able to help me somehow.

Thank you so much.

Please help me make it possible for my 7 year old to walk

First let me say thank you for taking the time to read my post weather you choose to help us, are in a position to help us, or even if you are able to do no more than pray for us. Thank you

My youngest (of 4) daughter Isabella was born in 12/17/2004 with Osteogenesis Imperfecta. OI in short is brittle bone disease and Bella was born with 12 fractures. The doctors gave Isabella 48 hour to live and told me that there was nothing they could do for her. After 12 weeks of fighting for her life and begging the doctors to help her and no success I demanded the doctors to release her and on BLIND FAITH we loaded our 4 children ages 7-12 weeks old and everything that would fit into our 2 trucks and with $4000 we set out from dallas to the tampa shriners hospital for childrens for medical care.
In the first year of Isabellas life she was life flighted 5 times over a 6 month period, spent spent 80% of the year living in ICU, was vented 2x and spent 28 days in a coma.
We quit counting Isabellas fractures at 50 and by the grace of God last december Isabella turned 7. She is currently 20.9 pounds and 29 inches. She is a smart happy well adjusted 1st grader with a sunshine yellow wheelchair and a 1 on 1 para in a regular classroom. She is funny and the glue that binds our family together.
We have been ok with Isabellas medical care for the last 7 years and Shriners is amazing and does the best for her that they can but in this economy we find that they are more reactive than proactive. I have been researching around for state of the art medical care for kids with OI and I have found it in Omaha NE. We have contacted the doctor and have been accepted as a paitent as soon as we can raise the nearly $10,000 we will need to relocate our family to Omaha.
With that said and Isabellas mounting unpaid medical bills we are buried with nothing in savings. We are in search of someone or many someons who would be willing to help us raise the funds to move this amazing child as her dream is to be rodded and stand (a very reall possibility in Omaha)!
We would be willing to accept any reasonable loan offered and would be blessed with any donation (big or small)

Thank you again for taking the time to read my post and for any help financial or emotional that you may be able to afford us.
God bless you!
Lorraine

Wanting a Baby Girl

Posted by mummylove5 on 2012-02-01 20:58:17

We lost our 8 1/2 month old baby girl 2 weeks ago by SIDS. My heart is absolutely shattered, I miss her smell, her touch and caring for her.
I have 4 sons and our baby girl was the icing on the cake for the family! I am dearly wanting to fly to the US to have Gender Selection as I would love to have another baby Girl. I'm not wanting to replace our daughter but to fill that hole in my heart and to feel love again. I got a taste for what it was like to have a daughter, and it was absolutely wonderful.

Im Drowning!!!

a future.I've barley made the bills, but am finally to the point of my utilities being cut off, and haven't been to the grocery store in over a month. It is slow where i am working which with her not working and medical bills from my recent neck surgery piling up, and having to get another vehicle because ours finally kicked the bucket, its just to much.
