Credit card and student Loan debt pileing up
Posted by Thatgraphicsgiy on 2012-05-17 22:58:21
As a practitioner of Buddhist meditation, I have a strong belief in the power of karma and losing kindness. I am not asking for a complete bail out but I have faith that there is someone out there that has te means and desire to help out. A large portion of my credit card debt was built up after offering up my car to help those in need, including my ex. If these bills were at the very least lessened, I would have the financials and to continue to help those in needs which is something hat I draw much happiness from.
If you Have the means and te desire to help me get back in my feet i promise you that I will return that generosity to others based in your example. Thank you
If you have questions email me at thatgraphicsguy@yahoo.com
Please help us help others.

My husband and I work very hard. We have two children, one of which is mentally disable. We are living paycheck to paycheck, and are so tired of constantly wondering what we are going to do. One thing that we do have is crazy faith. I dont know if God showed me this website to be blessed on someone that understands our circumstances, but I live to help others; I had a hard time at one point living from house to house, so I am just hoping to get some help to help others that are going through the same issue. I would like to finish my basement, garuage, and turn my deck into a sunroom. This will help me make room for those that become homeless and need a comfortable place to sleep untill they get on their feet. We had a family of 5 stay with us for 9 months, it was really cramped, but we made it work they best we could. I feel If I bless others God will bless me. I can only imagine how much all this will cost, but it makes me feel good to know that I can help someones family in need. I would say this would be somewhere around 30-40 thousand. Please help me.

On top of this, I have over $50k in student loan debt, which Sallie Mae only let me defer 2 payments due to the disaster. Also, bank of America (evil!) offered no help with my credit cards or mortgage. So, Now I'm back on my regular budget, and can hardly save any money for the repairs and replacement costs.
PLEASE HELP a girl realize her American dream - to own a beautiful home and to take some of the financial worry out of her mind after experiencing a tragic event!
We need help with taxes
Posted by nt1962 on 2012-02-17 15:58:59
The house was deeded to the church over 30 years ago by a former pastor of the church who had become ill and subsequently passed away. The house is not located in the same community as the church. (In fact, it is some distance away from the church, and therefore could not be utilized for church-related purposes which would have taken it off of the tax roll). As a result of gentrification in that community, the property values have increased tremendously. The property tax assessment for the property owned by the church escalated to staggering heights during the housing bubble.
Because of this the church has had much difficulty keeping up with all of the taxes on the property (a general tax, a school tax, and a village tax). The rental income from the property is used to assist the church with operating expenses, maintenance of all of the church properties, as well as paying the taxes. Finally, reassessment in the last couple of years has brought down the amount of taxes to be paid and we are better able to handle some of the current taxes due, but some of the older taxes were sold and consolidated in tax lien sales. The consolidation of the prior taxes due has hurt us tremendously. Numerous times the unpaid taxes were consolidated prior to our completion of raising enough funds to pay off some of them in their unconsolidated state. Individually some were $1,000 to $3,000 respectively. They have been consolidated totaling almost $19,000. We are not permitted to pay the liens individually which was viable, we have to pay them in total.
There is a holding company based in the community where the house is located which purchased those liens. That company is now a few months away from being able to begin foreclosure proceedings and take a valuable piece of real estate out from under the church. This would be devastating to the church.
The church has been in the process of trying to sell the house and use the proceeds from the sale to build a much needed new church building in the community it is located as well as to pay off those outstanding liens at closing, and to unload a property that was once a blessing to the church, but has long since become a burden. We donât want to lose the property. We want to be able to sell it. We had some offers on the house, but at the last minute a promising deal fell through. Previously interested buyers, for some reason now, are less interested. We feel it is possible that there may some collusion within the community where the house is located to wait for the lien process to move forward and that potential purchasers connected with the holding company will be able to take the property and flip it to tremendous financial advantage, while leaving the church with nothing for thirty years of struggling to take care of the property.
It is important that we are allowed to sell the house and build our new church. We are in the final stages of making the new building a reality. All we have to do is secure the construction financing. Receipt of a commitment letter for the sale of the house is all that stands in the way of a 40+ year dream for the congregation. It would give us the down-payment that we need to move forward.
With the construction of a new church, we would be able to operate before and after school programs, have handicap accessible restrooms, and provide better services to the community. We have a senior citizens housing complex across the street from our church, and many of the residents would attend our church but they are unable to climb up and down the stairs to the single-person restrooms in the basement. We also operate a summer day camp which would benefit greatly from having more space in which to operate. We would be able to accommodate many more youngsters, many of whose families are unable to afford the other summer camps operating in the area. We have had to turn down prospective campers because of space constraints.
Our congregational makeup has changed over the years. The financial impact of that changed has been coupled with the severe impact of the economic downturn on our community. We have more retirees now on fixed income, youth, and small children, many of whom have young mothers, and some people who are working age, mostly with working class wages. We need to build a church to better meet the needs of our congregation and community. We operate a food pantry and soup kitchen which would be able to open more days a week with bigger pantry space and a modern commercial kitchen.
As I stated, we are in the final stages of the building project. We have our permits, plans, and contractor selected. We are ready to obtain financing. The congregation, which has always striven to do much with little, has invested much in this projected over the years and the sale of this property owned by the church is the one thing that stands in the way of it happening. Please do not let us lose this property just so a few people can make a quick buck. Help us to pay off these tax liens so that our church will be able to help transform an entire community!

This is my story, I used to work in law enforcement before my disability effected my work. I have helped a lot of people and even saved lives. I'm good person, and most importantly, a human being.
Since my disability this year I have been forced to move my rented home because of a bed bug infestation, and when I say forced to move I mean getting kicked out by the landlord for making complaints on the issue. Anyways, I don't want to make this long so i'll skip ahead.
I live on disability which gives me $469 for shelter allowance. My rent is $650 in a basement apartment. I have no furniture in my living room and have a mattress in there which I sleep on. By the end of every month I find myself broke and hungry. I am forced to live in poverty as punishment for my disability here in Canada. If I want couches or a dining table I have to go without food for weeks at a time as a "sacrifice" just to be able to afford a decent sofa.
I tried every other way I could but at last it came to this as I sit here writing to you at 1:30am begging for any help you can offer.
This is my life. And this is my story.
I am only 30 years old.
Get me out of my parents basement.

Widowed Single Mom in Desparate Need of Help with Crumbling House
Posted by CLS1976 on 2011-09-13 15:58:36
He didn't have life insurance, and since we were only engaged, there were no survivors benefits and so it was just me, my 14 month old, two dogs, and an old house built in 1927 and a laundry list of repairs that needed to be done.
After my fiance died, I think a part of me just shut down. There was so much to deal with. . .working full time, being a single parent with no support. All my family lives 6 hours away, and my fiances family never wanted anything to do with us and after the accident all communication stopped and I was alone.
So, I shut the doors to the upstairs of our two bedroom Cape Cod, and made my bed on the Living Room couch so that I could rock my son in his bouncy chair everytime he woke at night. . .on average 4 times a night.
I did the best I could over the years. During all this my Dad was a huge emotional support for me. We talked every day, he encouraged me to stay strong and I did the same for him (he was diagnosed with milodisplastic syndrome in 2005)his blood transfusions really took a toll on him and his physical weakness really depressed him. I know he worried about me alot because I would always call him for advise on how to fix things or ask him questions about car stuff. He was my rock and he died October 4, 2008 from complications with pneumonia. He was buried on his birthday October 8 when he would have been 56.
His death is still hard to handle. My rock my best friend and advisor was gone and now I realized I was truly alone. Not only did I not have anyone to help me with my son, or with the house or the car, but now I didn't have anyone I could really talk to that could just listen and be my guide.
All this happened so suddenly. My now 3 year old son and I stayed up North for a week after my Fathers death. There was a lot of planning and funeral arrangements to be made that during the midst of all this, 6 hours away in my little Cape Cod were the two dogs. . .Joe, a shepard and chow mix, and Rex, a shepard and Rotti mix left to their own devices. All I could do was pray that the damage wouldn't be too terrible.
I tried calling a neighbor to check on the dogs, but in our unexplained absence the dogs became extremely protective of the house and wouldn't let anyone it.
When we finally came home, there was definately a mess. I had to rip up all the carpet by myself the stench was horrible and the dust and dirt under the padding from 10 year old carpet caused more than one sinus infection. After a month I had all the carpet ripped up and have not been able to replace it.
After working and saving and with help from my Mom, in 2009 I was able to hire a Contractor that had been highly recommended to me by a friend of mine. He raved about how great they were and what a good job they did for him. We had a contract for about $19,000. This was to replace all the windows, replace the kitchen cabinets, new countertop, appliances, paint, everything the house needed after being neglected for over 10 years. So they came and painted and left. Six months later they came back with 5 of the 13 windows, installed the windows, but left the casements on the inside open and torn leaving exposed the Lead Paint and the original wood framing. Then in August 2009, they had the kitchen cabinets delivered to my house and they were stored outside on the porch. I called and called to find out when they would be put in, and no response. They stayed outside through the Fall and through the winter when we got three feet of snow and I called and begged and sent text messages and one day their phone number was disconnected. Then in June 2010 they called me!! They would come install the cabinets. So they came and tore out the stove and the kitchen sink and installed the cabinets and put a slab on granite down so I could have a work area and said they would be back with the stove and dishwasher and sink. They never came back. So I had kitchen cabinets and no stove, no sink, no dishwasher. Then in July, Rex, the Rotti Shepard mix got really sick. The vet said he was starting kidney failure. They kept him and did IV treatment and got his kidneys functioning and they said he need a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice. I had no stove. I tried calling the contractors I yelled, I begged, I sent text messages and finally out of desparation I went and bought the cheapest stove I could just to be able to boil water for my dog.
The dog survived, but his survival was short lived. In October 2010 on the anniversary of my Fathers death, I had to put the dog to sleep. He was suffering from the samething my father had. He couldn't produce red blood cells anymore and would have to live off of blood transfusions. One of the hardest choices I've ever made.
Now here we are in 2011. Memorial Day I almost lost my now 6 year old son in a near drowning incident at a friends pool. Thank God the husband knew CPR and was able to revive him. He stayed overnight in ICU for monitoring but he is now a happy healthy 1st grader.
Me. . .I'm barely keeping it together. I can't afford to take care of my home. The carpet was never replaced and there is a horrible draft in the Winter and the Lead Paint is still exposed. The upstairs windows are leaking and there are water spots on the ceiling. There is a 4" crack in the basement foundation wall that goes all the way down the wall and across the basement floor to the other side of the house. I was told that the footing is slipping and that it was only a matter of time before the house caved. The gutters are falling off the house from age and the deck rails are falling off. I fear for our safety, but mostly, I'm afraid for my son. I want to give him a safe and healthy environment, but I need help.
Please, if there is anyone out there that can help us, I would be eternally grateful. In the meantime, I will keep praying and belive that everything happens for a reason.
Escaped from Abuse

I am writing here to beg for help supporting myself. I never thought I would be in this situation, but I find myself alone and unable to pay my rent.
After 8 years with a physically and emotionally abusive man, a friend helped me find the strength to run. With her support and the help of the wonderful staff at a women's shelter, I have finally started to see myself as an independent person instead of the house pet of a horrible man.
While in this relationship, I was not allowed to work outside the house or interact with people outside of those acquaintances he approved for me. Figuring out how to support myself has been difficult and frightening, and I'm still learning and finding my way. I have a small basement bachelor apartment, and worked briefly as a waitress. Unfortunately I found the stress of being surrounded by so many strangers to be too big of a step and too soon, having so recently left the sheltered life I led for the last 8 years. I lost the waitressing job because of the anxiety and near panic attacks that kept me from performing my duties. I have since found a little work keeping house for a kind, quiet couple, but I make only about $60-$80/wk doing this. I cannot ask them for more, as I know they already do all they can for me. They do not know my story.
I cannot get a loan or line of credit to help pay my rent, because as far as the bank is concerned I have never had a job and I appear unemployable. The various charities that exist to help women in my situation give most of their aid to women with dependent children or parents, which is fair but frustrating.
If you are able, a donation from you could change my life. Eventually I want to go to college, maybe for culinary arts (cooking is the one thing I've gotten very good at!). For now, I just need to pay my rent.
Any help would be the greatest kindness, and would be so greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Desperate for Rent

I have to swallow my pride and beg you for help with my rent. I am a single woman and recently lost my job - I am working odd jobs where I can and applying everywhere, but no one wants to hire a young woman with no family and no experience. It's incredibly discouraging, and I've run out of savings to support myself.
If you are able, help paying my rent would save me. I am in a small basement bachelor apartment, and my landlord has threatened to evict me if I am late with one more payment.
A donation from you would change my life.
Thank you.

Family in Need

The lack of money and the increase of debt has also put important home repairs on hold. Which if left unattended will cause further damage resulting in more work and money. Some needed improvements are bricks and mortar on my house that are completly cracking and breaking off,and mold growing on the walls of the basement due to moisture leaking through cracks (which is very unhealthy for my children). However even these repairs won't matter if I can't make ends meet I will lose my home with no where to go and no one to turn to for help.
So I am truly begging, any amount of monetary donations will be greatly appreciated.
And when I rise above this difficult time I will pay it forward to someone else in need.

Quickly losing the battle to keep a roof over my families heads
Posted by Nuitari1974 on 2011-06-01 03:58:15
However in the last year the economy has gotten so bad that I was actually losing money repairing and building custom PC's, my wifes hours have been cut wo less than 10 hours a week, and any job that I have applied for I am not eligble for either because I am still finishing my degree so am under qualified, or because I am over qualified due to the schooling I have completed so far. (That's right I have been told I am overqualified to flip burgers at Mcdonalds, not sure how that works.)
Because of our reduced income we have been late on a number of bill payments for utilities and the house. I have sold my boat, my guns, and various electronics to get were we are and am to the point I have nothing of value left to sell. Aside from the monthly bills I have repair bills racking up on the house and our remaining vehicle.
The to top it off we got hit with a flood that took out our water heater, washer and dryer, and did significant damage to the rest of the basement.
Current bills include:
Cable $185
Cell $195
Mortgage $850
porperty taxes $200
food $600
gas $250
misc expenses for kids $200+ (8 year old daughter, 17 year old son)
repairs
replace water heater $1200
replace washer and dryer $500
engine and transmission work needed $2400
replace flooring and wall paneling $7500
Current monthly income
Wife: $600
Me: $800
Even with the financial aid and some other assistance we are almost $600 a month short just for the basic bills.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
I have a 9 month old and a 6 year old and just found Asbestos and Mold in my house.

A hand up
Posted by goodman on 2011-01-31 13:58:58
I'm currently living in my sons basement, but can't stay much longer. As of tomorrow, I will be in danger of losing my truck, the only means of transportation I have to make any kind of money.
My bank account is -$700.00 due to funds taking too long to be posted, and over draft fees. I have another week or so to make good on it, then I don't know what will happen. This kind of thing has NEVER happened to me.
For so many years I've donated to charities, helped the needy, and donated time. I never imagined I would be in the same situation.
So here I am asking for help. Ideally, $2000 would get me back on track. I realize that wont happen, but anyting that someone could send would be helpful, and greatly appreciated. I know things will turn around for me again if I can survive this situation. When they do, it is my intention to pay back any monies I have recieved and make it a point to help others again. Again, a hand up, not a hand out. Pay it forward if you will. I'm a good man having some bad times. Please help if you can, I'm at wits end. God bless, and thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
Veteran Needs Help!!!

So here is my story, on February 16, 2010 I suffered a heart attack while shoveling snow in my driveway. This was truly a traumatic experience because my son and daughter were with me when this happened. As a result of the heart attack I was forced to take a leave of absence from my job. I thought I would be off for a short time but that is not what happened.
I had the angioplasty procedure and then developed an infection at the site of the procedure which required some additional surgery to drain the infected area. This required another stay in the hospital for three days in May, Which in turn required more time off from work. Then, In June i developed a problem with my blood pressure which required another stay in the hospital.
After that stay my company fired me saying that they could no longer hold my position. As if that wasnt bad enough they then refused to give me any unemployment stating that I had quit, because I had failed to submit a form. I realize that it was my responsibility to submit the form but in my defense I was dealing with some serious health issue and it just slipped through the cracks.
I was still under doctors care but I did not prevail in the attempt to get any benefits. So I began to live off my savings and going to my cardiac rehab. Then in October just after being released from doctors care I suffered a mild stroke. Which left me not only physically down but mentally depressed I spent 27 days in the hospital and have exhausted all of my savings.
I have now lost my home and the engine in my car blew out. Fortunately I have been able to receive VA benefits for my health issues which has been a huge help. But now I find myself in need of funds to get back on my feet. I need $5,000.00 to get my car fixed and to tide me over while I look for a job. I now live in the basement of my mother home and am desperate to get back on my feet.
I have donated plasma in order to give my kids some sibilance of Christmas, but I need help to move forward. This so embracing but I am at the end of my rope and dont know what else to do, so anything you could donate I would be ever so grateful.
Thank you,

Completely Honest Request - No Begging Required
Posted by HeNateMe on 2010-12-14 16:58:58
Ever since we have had to use credit to get by. We have mounting credit card debt closing in on the 40K to 50K range (I don't want to add it all up as I don't want to see the actual number). I am considering one of those debt resolution companies or bankruptcy. But both have major drawbacks. I have been searching for a better paying job in the accounting industry but competition is stiff and employers' requirements are high and the amount of jobs is low.
I am certain that if we could get rid of this debt we would be put back on our feet and ready to excel. I just need one "do over" without any harsh consequences and then I feel I will be able to go GREAT things. Thank you for listening.
