REQUEST FOR LIFE
Posted by pally on 2012-04-14 21:58:03
Greetings, Me and my family are farmers located in one of the most remote and rugged regions of Himalayas in India where there are no access to roads or transportations. Our home and fields are situated over the mountain approx. 3500 feet above sea level where the weather is unpredictable which makes farming very hard and life unbearable. All the farm work is done manually by hand by the members of my family. We normally grow garlic in small quantities which we sell to sustain the family for a whole year. As there are no access to roads we have to carry the loads on our backs at times 50 to 80 KG to access the nearest road which is couple of hours down the mountain and is a back breaking process. Even to get small food items we have to be going through this exercise everyday for our survival. Our everyday diet consist of five or six rotis (wheat flour and water mixed and roasted like a pancake) with mostly dal (gravy made out of pulse) with occasional rice two times a day. At times we collect wild vegetables from nearby forest to supplement our diet. Because of lack of nutrition our health conditions also suffer many times in a year. Here even today babies are born in the house. Birth is supervised by one of the older village woman as there are no doctors or any qualified medical people. In cases of emergency we have to carry the patient on our back to the road and any medical attention can be gotten 15 kms further down the road. This has resulted in many deaths in past years with young and old.
Since last two years due to changing weather conditions and untimely rainfall our fields could not yield crops properly. We are poor farmers just scrapping through life trying to stay alive. Added to these problems last year three of my family members one of whom is a six month old baby had deteriorating health conditions which needed hospitalisation and medicines which cost us major portion of the money we could earn by selling our crop. Normally we earn about 50,000 INR in a year by selling garlic and we grow small quantities of wheat and corn enough to keep the family through the year. Due to these sufferings and extra expenditure am now in great distress to be even able to buy seeds to grow crop in our field to sustain ourselves. To have one morsel of food has become a nightmare for all of us and we are nine members in the family with two small babies of 8 months and two years. The future of our survival looks very bleak given the conditions and lack of health and finance to tend the field.
I would be highly grateful if your goodselves would consider me and my family a worthy cause to extend your help to us with 5000 USD which I can use to buy necessary seeds for the crops, few essential medications, a mule for transportation, fix the leaking roof of our home, do little maintenance to our field for yielding more crop and get me, my family andour field back on track as our field is the only source of our survival. My family consist of myself, my sick wife, two sons and two daughters, 2 small babies and a daughter in law. I can provide you with my family snap, address and bank account details upon your heart permitting to help me as whatever I have stated above is genuine and true. Me and my family are seeking this help not because we are lazy but because of protracted and extreme conditions beyond our control which we have been facing since two years continuously under the circumstances outlined above. We need a helping hand to get back on our feet again as your generosity would go a long way in alleviating the sufferings of my family and bring life back into our lives.
Awaiting your kindness and response.
Warm Regards
Negi

Student in Tremendous debt due to student loans and medical bills
Posted by holymo on 2012-03-14 14:58:11
First let me begin by stating that if I were not in desperate need of help I would not go to such lengths to seek it out. As of right now I am currently a senior in college majoring in English. Last year, after taking prescribed antibiotics I did not need, I was diagnosed with a severe case of C.diff. At first, I did not recognize the symptoms as anything worth seeking medical attention for so I went on with life as a waitress awaiting the fall semester to begin. But my illness got the best of me and on the first day of class I found myself severely sick and was forced to run out of class to make it to the restroom. I sat in the stall and cried trying to understand why I was so sick for so long; I knew then that something was wrong. My mother insisted on taking me to the ER, once admitted they drew my blood and determined that I was indeed severely sick. My white blood cell count was over 40,000. They took x-rays, MRIs and Cat scans to determine the severity of my illness. While running the test they discovered a tumor on my liver, luckily it is begnine but I am suppose to have it checked every six months to ensure it won't become cancerous. Of course, this is not possible for me since I do not have insurance and as of right now I am tremendously in debt. My illness forced me to seek the help of a GI, unfortunately, they are ridiculously pricey and my bills have skyrocketed. I begged family and friends for financial assistance just to pay the minimum fee in order to be seen, but I have exhausted they kindness. My family has been great; they have helped me as much as they could even while they themselves do not have much. I was forced to quit my job because I was sick for well over six months. They too were kind enough to let me work when I could but it became too much trying to juggle school and work while sick. On top of my acquired medical bills I also am $40,000.00 in student debt. I am frightened by the amount of debt I have and am worried I will not land a job post-graduation soon enough to begin paying on them. I am proud of myself for sticking through school all while being sick. I am not bitter, the illness taught me many lessons that I will take with me forever. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I hope to someday pay all the kindness forward. Thank you for reading.
Blessing,
Mary

We had quite a bit of money saved up but after moving here I have had a hard time finding a full time job. I took what I could just to keep money coming in but it is only part time and pays less than half of what I was making. My husband was disabled and awaiting a liver transplant so he only had social security disability for income.
Our dream was to buy a house in Mascoutah after I found a good job but unfortunately we never got to live out that dream. 6 months after moving here his health went downhill. We used all our savings to pay rent, utilities and medical bills for him going in and out of the hospital on a regular basis. No matter how many jobs I have applied for no one even calls to give me the opportunity to interview.
After all these years we finally got married September 30, 2011. This was our dream come true. We were really looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together but unfortunately that did not happen. My husband became really ill and passed away December 8, 2011.
He was so worried about me being taken care of and he thought I would continue to get his social security disability money if something did happen to him but I knew I wouldn't and I didn't have the heart to tell him that I wouldn't. I am only 46 and I would have to be 60 to qualify for his benefits. I am just happy that he passed away thinking that I would be taken care of.
I used the last little bit of savings to pay toward his funeral expenses and I was fortunate enough to raise some money by having a trivia night in his honor. I have enough money to pay the rent for February but no money for any other bills such as utilities or any remaining funeral expenses or to even buy a headstone for him. I also have a 21 year old son that I have been putting through college and now I have no way to help him continue his education.
I rarely eat or sleep worrying about how I will survive on my own and ending up on the street homeless. Some days I wish the good lord would have just taken me at the same time because I feel so lost and alone and I lost my one and only true love.
I have never had to ask anyone for money and I feel ashamed that I am but I really want to live out our dream of buying a house in Mascoutah one day but the most important thing right now is finding a way to survive without becoming homeless. I have no one else to turn to.
Michael O. Cortez, born Friday, Oct. 18, 1963, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville, IL. Survived by his wife, Wanda Cortez of Mascoutah, IL. This information can be verified by: Kurrus Funeral Home 1773 Frank Scott Parkway West, Belleville, IL 62223 (618)235-2100.
You don't know how much this means to me and I would so greatly appreciate it if anyone can find it in their heart to help me. I am trying to hang in there and I am really hoping to have some kind of future to look forward to. I have worked so hard all my life and I donât want to give up on everything that I have worked so hard for.
God Bless you all and words cannot even begin to describe how much your help would be greatly appreciated.

Again I BEG you for the sake of my kids.
Please understand my situation.
Awaiting a positive response soon.

Her 7 year old daughter Kimberly
is currently on dialysis, and has been diagnosed with Leukemia. In July of 2007 Alexis lost her oldest sister when passed away from breast cancer. At that time she took in her two children. Sadly, in June 2008 Alexisâ husband was diagnosed with throat cancer. In October 2008 her husband Michael lost his battle with cancer.
In February of 2009, Alexis and her family moved in with her grandfather. He had recently lost his wife (her grandmother) from heart failure. Shortly after that, he became very ill and suffered 2 strokes. Alexis was working full-time, and taking care of him and her children. He had become very forgetful, and he hadnât been taking care of his medications. In August of 2010 he had another stroke that was so bad that his mouth completely twisted to one side, and he was in a wheelchair. December of 2010, he suffered a massive stroke and died.
All of Alexis life, she has been a wonderful sister and friend. She has always been there for so many of us when we needed her. The family is struggling to survive daily. Kimberly has been so brave through all of this. Kimberly was born with a deformed kidney that had to be
removed, and she is currently awaiting a transplant. This has been a hard time for her fighting leukemia, and losing her father at 4 years old. Everything has been difficult on the family during this time. Alexisâ has tried everything including collecting cans to make extra money for the family. Kimberlyâs excessive medical expenses have made it extremely difficult for the family.
Whatever you are able to donate will be very much appreciated by the family. Every donation will help the family tremendously.
Thank you so much for your support, thoughts and prayers.

please help us, if I don't pay rent, nowhere else to go
Posted by needhelpsoon on 2012-01-13 17:58:20
I have finally filed for food stamps, and medical and SSDI and awaiting approval, to get back on feet, in the meantime, if we lose our home, there is no place to go. No family, definitely no money for first last and security to move.
Please, please, I beg of you, of anyone out there. Any and every bit helps and adds up. Even if I give him something, its better than nothing and he is a kind patient man who has worked with me through my illness.
I know now that I got the ball rolling with benefits, I will be able to sustain the family, just can't lose the home. I have been searching high and low for work to sustain us while awaiting approval. I always used to work 60-70 hours a week and hate not working. I have the pain under enough control to work here and there and willing to do anything at all legal. I'd scrub a toilet with a smile on my face just because I'd know I'd be working and sustaining us until everything is approved.
Please, please, any help at all is greatly appreciated, please help us save our home.

Please help. Laid off Single Mom; Unable to find work
Posted by mfinch on 2011-07-08 08:58:59
Now, I am 34 and at the lowest point of my life. As I write, I am at the library, as I have no Internet connection at home - wherever that is most days. Each and every day is a struggle in this economy and have been seeking employment since I was laid off from my job November 2010 and was subsequently denied unemployment (technical glitch, I suppose).
Since then, I have applied for a myriad of jobs from McDonald's to administrative positions. Yes, I have landed a few interviews, but no call backs due to saturation levels of job seekers applying for the very same jobs I could so easily procure in years past. It use to be that I could find a job at the drop of a hat. Now, I am oddly lucky if I land an interview.
So why am I here? Because, to be frank, I am desperate. My home is in foreclosure. My gas has been turned off (I owe them $500). Without gas to cook or heat our water, we have little use for the house. We have sold what we had of any value to bring in a bit of money. The people (friends and family) who were able to help me before either can no longer help or are unwilling to do so. They have given up hope, and I am almost there, myself. This month, I have no idea how I will pay my car payment. I only owe $4,000 on it. I pay $234 a month. I bought it at $22,000. I have no income, and so, no bills get paid unless a friend is able to help me that month. We need transportation.
I have an eleven year old daughter. She has been a real trooper through all of this. I love her dearly and she knows I would do anything for her. I do what I can to take care of her. She always gets what she needs before I get anything. I am trying hard not to lose her. I have already lost one daughter due to this situation.
When I lost my job in November, I was 3 months pregnant. In April, when she was born, I thought I would have a job by then, but was forced to give her up for adoption since I was unable to care for her and no one around me was able to take her. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do, but I had to make sure she was cared for and given a chance at a happy life rather than one of struggle. I do not want to lose my older daughter, too, but without my home, I certainly will. I simply have no place to go. I would have loved being mommy to two girls. I miss her so much. I will always have an empty space in my heart only she can fill. I only find comfort in the fact that I know she is safe and well cared for, and loved.
What about child support? That is a whole different story, but my daughter's father is attempting to terminate support on the basis that he has bills to pay, "other" children to support and a fiancee. The $50 per week he has been forced to pay is simply gone before it hits the card. Gas is expensive. So are clothes. So are hygiene products. My daughter needs things. I don't mean gadgets. I mean shelter, transportation, clothing.
Do I have a plan? Yes. I am actively seeking employment. I am $9,000 behind on the mortgage. Without my home, we are on the streets. If I cannot pay my car, I cannot sleep in my car. I am attempting to avoid living in either my car or on the street. I cannot get public housing or section 8 as the waiting list is over a year long wait. When I call the homeless shelter, the beds are always full with a waiting list. I cannot go to the YMCA since I am not a druggie or alcoholic and I am not in a domestic violence relationship. So, in the meantime, I have let go of my pride, humbled myself and decided to seek the help of others through donations. School will be starting soon. I need to buy my daughter clothes for school. I need to be able to provide her shelter.
My list of bills is short. The ones that matter, anyway. I have a $234 car payment, $55 for my cell phone (I have to be reached somehow), $75 for car insurance, and spend about $80 a week for fuel. I was notified yesterday that my home is in active foreclosure and am awaiting my court date. I need $100 for a truck to move my belongings and $75 to procure a storage room the first month and $65 a month, thereafter.
Please, if you are able to donate, I am desperate. I will be posting each week the amounts of money that may be donated, even if that number is zero. I will also post what the money has been used for and when I get a job, and no longer need assistance, I will cease to seek them. I will pay it forward when I am able as I know I am not the only one is this situation.

I haven't been able to work for 18 months. My savings are gone. My truck blew up. Worse yet, my water pump burned up and I have no running water. My heat/ac unit caught fire over the winter,...thus no air conditioning now that the heat is on.
This is real. I am making nothing up. I really need some help while awaiting the outcome of my V.A. disability claim. There are no real veterans groups out there that give help. Most, if not all want; donations and won't even answer email or voicemail.
If there is truly one human being out there with the love of God in their heart, please help me.
Just want to make ends meet
