hello. my name is Darren, recently we lost our trailor, in the country, on the beautiful land we purchased in hopes of building a home on someday. Because our nieghbors changed thier land zoning from agriculture to residential, which because we dont own enough land automatically changed our zoning so we got a 30 day notice to get rid of our home. forcing us to move into seperate homes staying with friends until we can get a double wide home to be legal on our land. my signifigant other, Melinda, has recently lost her job and has no insurance and 9 days ago fell down a flight of stairs breaking her pelvis, L-5 vertabrea, 3 ribs, tail bone, skull and orbital. she had surgery on her pelvis a week agoe, and cannot yet even stand. with no home to rehabilitate in and no insurance, it just seems like everything is crashing in around us. It is slow where i am working which with her not working and medical bills from my recent neck surgery piling up, and having to get another vehicle because ours finally kicked the bucket, its just to much. I am suffering from diabetes, depression, giddiness, backache, tension headache, anxiety, high cholesterol and on daily medication. I have no money to see Doctor for a medical check-up and medicines as I need the medicines urgently due to my daily medication have finished. It is very dangerous to stop taking medicines for the chronic diseases. My age, 59 years old, unemployed due to poor health.
My only son is living with me and his age, 33 years old, unemployed due to poor health. He is suffering from asthma, high cholesterol and eczema and on daily medication. Every time he went out, he have to bring along his inhale. He wish to study the University of London (UOL) Diploma in law for full time course in April, 2012. He was told to pay his school fee $12,700 to ITC and UOL now in order for him to attend the said class at ITC next year April 2012. Appreciate if you can help him.

My problem started in July 2010. I was involved in an auto accident. I rear-ended a woman, who in turn rear-ended the person in front of her. The reason it happened was that the person in front of me hit their gas and got over to an open spot in the lane to my left. This move was so fast I didn't have room to either side and I saw the reason that driver moved was the cars in front of him or her were at a dead stop. We were traveling uphill so I was unable to see past the car and I had no idea people were stopped. I had less than a second to hit my brakes. Luckily no body was injured.
Here is where the story gets ugly. My mom had paid my auto insurance but she lost her job so I started to pay the premiums. I told my insurance agent to automatically deduct the premium and I gave her my bank information. So I was under the impression I had insurance. I did not. The agent only charged me for one month's premium and never set up the automatic deduction. Great. But there seemed to be a silver lining...the two other vehicles involved in the accident drove away before the police arrived. I did not get a ticket, I was completely sober and cooperative, and the police were surprised two victims of an accident would just drive away. Both parties got all of my information, they drove away before I got theirs. At the time of the accident I wasn't worried because I thought I had insurance.
When I called my agent I was informed that my policy lapsed because I hadn't paid my monthly premium.
I was curious if the fact that both of these people drove away would take the heat off of me. The police thought this was possible, after all, how can they prove they didn't smash up their vehicles further after they drove away to get more insurance money?
It gets worse. I left my job a few years ago because I had a job all but promised to me in Denver. Obviously, I didn't get the job in Denver. Not sure why, I aced the interview. So with no steady income (I was used to making about 42k yearly) I held hope I'd land a good job and had no choice to but to survive on a credit card for food and gas. That good job never came along. I ended up working overnights as a nurse assistant in the mental health unit. I've been drowning in debt, I had to get a car from what some consider a predatory lending car lot. I lost the hospital job in April for 'misconduct' (I worked nights and someone reported that I was sleeping, I wasn't but they didn't believe me so now I don't qualify for unemployment.) So, no income to pay for that vehicle and it got repossessed. But the best part is I got a letter in January 2011 stating that I owe one of the parties involved in the accident around 5k. I don't have it. If I had the money I would write both of the drivers involved in that accident fat checks right now, but I simply do not have the resources. The letter from the state dept of transportation stated that my license would be suspended unless I came up with the money. So I called the agency, and from my conversation with the state employee it sounded like my case would be reviewed. Nope. A collection agency sent me a letter saying in total I owe nearly 35k for the two cars and my credit cards.
In February I was on my way to a friend's house and I was pulled over because my temp tags were expired. The officer ran my license and I was handcuffed and taken to jail. I have never been arrested, and my driving record is excellent. The officer even thought it was silly. Regardless, now I have a court date in early July and I have the public defender taking my case. He said I either need to pay $1000 fine, or spend a minimum of 2 days in jail. So it looks as if I will be in jail at least 2 days because I have no money. Being without a vehicle is no picnic. My job search is limited to places on a bus route close to my home in Kansas City. I have no friends or family with that kind of money. I am not a drug addict, or a criminal. My career tanked, and I've kept falling through the cracks. I stay positive and I love life, but the anxiety and absence of pride in my life are making me isolate more. I can't afford to do anything. Luckily my brother is letting me stay in a spare room at his place or I may be homeless. I am a hard worker, I have a bachelor's degree, and I am a pleasant person to work with. But I have no car, no money, horrible credit, and bleak job prospects. Please do not think I feel sorry for myself. I've made stupid decisions that got me where I am. I take responsibility for putting myself in situations where these things happened. And especially for not paying attention to my financial obligations (the insurance premium). That being said, all I can do is look forward and do the best I can to get back on my feet. At this moment I feel like a wet puppy who is trying unsuccessfully to jump out of the tub during a bath. I need help. I don't know who to turn to. I've wanted to volunteer at some places to meet people and network but without a vehicle and a suspended license I can't even volunteer at most places. Please, if anyone can help, contact me with suggestions. I desperately need to file for bankruptcy but that costs around 1,800.00 and I can't afford that.
I also have around 27k in student loan debt. That debt along with the approximately 35k in unsecured debt leaves me with a very large amount of money that I have no realistic chance of paying back. The student loans will not be affected if I file for bankruptcy. Which is fine. As a matter of pride and doing what is right I don't like that my debts can simply be written off, but that is seemingly my only option. I would love to volunteer for a charity of my debtor's choosing to start to contribute something, but that proposal often times ends up sounding like a mutated version of indentured servitude.

But I have no car, no money, horrible credit, and bleak job prospects. Please do not think I feel sorry for myself. I've made stupid decisions that got me where I am. I take responsibility for putting myself in situations where these things happened. And especially for not paying attention to my financial obligations (the insurance premium). That being said, all I can do is look forward and do the best I can to get back on my feet. At this moment I feel like a wet puppy who is trying unsuccessfully to jump out of the tub during a bath. I need help. I don't know who to turn to. I've wanted to volunteer at some places to meet people and network but without a vehicle and a suspended license I can't even volunteer at most places. Please, if anyone can help, contact me with suggestions. I desperately need to file for bankruptcy but that costs around 1,800.00 and I can't afford that.
I also have around 27k in student loan debt. That debt along with the approximately 35k in unsecured debt leaves me with a very large amount of money that I have no realistic chance of paying back. The student loans will not be affected if I file for bankruptcy. Which is fine. As a matter of pride and doing what is right I don't like that my debts can simply be written off, but that is seemingly my only option. I would love to volunteer for a charity of my debtor's choosing to start to contribute something, but that proposal often times ends up sounding like a mutated version of indentured servitude.
I apologize for the rambling. This is the first time I have ever written all of this down at once and I feel better.

Military Family in Need of Help

I want to start off with letting you know that this is very embarrassing to ask for help from strangers but I don't know what else to do. So here it goes.
My husband is in the Army and we have 3 amazing kids ages 9, 7 and 2. We have been married for almost 13 years and have what I like to call "The Picture Perfect Family".
We have recently gotten deep into debt and can't find a way out. This is a last resort to help dig us out.
I have not been able to find work since being stationed in El Paso, everywhere that I have tried requires you to know Spanish, which I do not. I have done babysitting to bring in money but the families that I worked for all moved with the military. Our money is gone as soon as it hits the bank going out to bills and not all of the bills get paid, they just keep adding up. When we think that we are finally getting caught up we get knocked back down again.
My Dad just passed away in January and we had to take out a military loan so that we could fly home. They automatically take out $200 a paycheck and that sets us back even further. Our mortgage check bounced along with two other bills so we have fee upon fee for those.That was just this month and doesn't count the others. The list just goes on and on.
I finally swallowed my pride and went to a food bank last week so that our kids had a warm meal only to be humiliated by the staff that worked there. I was told that since my husband is in the military that we should be financially able to pay our bills and not need a handout. Yes, we do get medical insurance and a steady paycheck but it isn't much. I have sold every unused item in our house and more. I have pawned every piece of gold that I owned and anything else of value. I have taken most of our kids toys to the consignment shop along with most of my clothes.
I am overwhelmed and don't know what to do. If you could help in any way our family would greatly appreciate it. Your help would go towards food for our family and hopefully some catch up on at least our utility bills.
We do not smoke, drink or do drugs. We are a kind and honest family.

Need Help With Electric Bill-You Do Not Have to Send Money

Our electric bill is $589 which has to be paid by the end of the month. It would not have been this high but two week ago my ignition went in my Chevy Malibu and the repair was almost $400 plus I had to shell out an additional $150 for a rental so I could go back and forth to work.
Here is what happened. We were on budget billing where we paid a set amount-based on an average of the payments we make through the year. Every few months NYSEG checks things over and if the actual amounts are lower that what we pay, we get the surplus. Then, if the actual amounts are more we have to pay the difference. This is what happened to us. Since we had to pay to get the car fixed, we were behind in the electric payment. I did, pay the $250 a week ago. But NYSEG canceled our budget billing account.
If we don't pay the $589, then it will get shut off. However, if we get it paid off, we can get back on the budget billing plan. I plan to have NYSEG automatically take the money right out of my checking account each month. That way we don't have to worry about a missed payment. I already talked this over with my husband. I already have my car insurance taken out the third week of the month. So NYSEG would take their payment in the last week of the month. I am planning to do this with our cable bill. That leaves me with one week of the month for my car payment. My husband would be responsible for the mortgage. That will leave us with plenty of money to save for emergencies-such as future car repairs.
Before I can even start this, I am going to need the $589 by the 31 of May. While we can pay this, it will put us behind on the cable bill and the mortgage. And I don't want that to happen.

Well, I can't believe I am here but, here goes.
I am looking for assistance to help my Mom & Step Dad. They are in their 60's now and are facing foreclosure on their home. My mom is in poor health and has been out of work for several years now. It's not easy to find a job these days and being in poor health and older are things that automatically put you at the bottom of the pile. My dad, a Vietnam vet has been able to find a part time job but, its just not enough. They are loosing their home. I am in no position as a single parent to do much to help them. They need money to get into an affordable apartment and pay for medications. We have tried every agency and program out there. This month some medications were not paid for in order to buy food - guess what? My Mom now has issues that could be life threatening because she isn't taking her meds. They can move in with me - some how we will make it work - just financially, I don't know how I'm going to do it - my head is barely above water & actually a little under some months. Please, Please, Please help....we have always been very charitable people. I don't have garage sales - I donate to those less fortunate. My child goes through toys & clothes several times a year to "give" to others who need it more. We will pay it forward or even pay you back someday when we can.
