Single Mom (not in recovery, not a felon, not disabled, just unemployed)
Posted by cdimiceli on 2012-05-01 17:58:09
Iâm going to be a little blunt, because I'm tired and I want to give up so bad, but I can't. I'm better than that and my kids are my motivator. I wake up everyday and remind myself of 2 things :1) Faith is what you have when you all your beliefs are blown to hell. 2) What doesn't kill you makes you stronger -Nietzsche
I am a 35 year old educated, ambitious, head strong woman. I have owned my own business with my soon to be ex. I know what hard work and determination are. I went to private school and I am educated. I value my community and have always given back and will continue to do so. I also know that I have the drive and determination to get myself back on track. I'm not ASKING for a handout, I'm asking for help up! I also know what loss is. I don't have the business, a house or EVEN the car anymore. We lost everything. He bounced back , I didnât. All I have is HOPE, that someone or some program can help me carve a path back to self sufficiency.
It's gone continually downhill.I am amazed at the allotment of programs for both housing and employment for all different walks of life. However, what about those that are just struggling. No hang ups, no record, just struggling and are LOW INCOME. I'm not writing this to make you feel sorry, I'm writing this because I have exhausted possibilities that I have researched both on my own or been given the information to do the work with.
There are people who struggle everyday through no fault of their own. They don't want a hand out, but help up would be a relief. Society doesn't need band-aids they need solutions.
Not every county, city or state program fits everyone's needs.
First of all Section 8 has been closed since BEFORE I left my marriage so that idea could never work. The list has been closed for years. Because I have limited time with my children, I do not qualify for CALWORKS. I have tried getting assistance in every way possible. I had very little unemployment left since I have been struggling to find work. I was delayed for about 3 months because they needed verification and I had to appeal and request a hearing. I have won my appeal but will only receive $91/week and for a short period of time.
I took a project management class through WIA in 2011, and I was able to get CTB benefits. I NEED HELP. I have hit the absolute worst point in my life and still refuse to give up. I have been looking for work and am now HOMELESS.I am in week 3 of staying in an extended stay hotel (paid for by my mother back east, who makes maybe $26,000/yr in PA) I recently sold my car because I needed to pay bills and rent. I have maybe $75 to my name.
The fact that they say there are services for low income/ homeless is frustrating. I say this because there is no category for me. I'm not a drug addict or in recovery. I don't have a mental illness. I wasn't in prison, I donât' even have a RECORD. I can proudly say I've never been arrested or even in the back of a cop car. I'm not a victim of domestic violence and I do not beat my kids. Why aren't there programs in place for single parents struggling to make it? Everyday people that are responsible and respectable. I understand the need to assist those that may not have the capacity to take care of themselves. However, I have a huge problem with the fact that Santa Clara County & all programs (private, govt or state funded) will rehabilitate and reintroduced felons into the community, but if you're poor, homeless, no record, are looking for work, have high intelligence; sorry, you can't get help. This sounds extremely cynical and jaded, but I am a little after going through all I have.
I have been told constantly âI wish I could do something but we don't have any programs to help you.â My favorite reply is: "Yeah and you have done everything. I'm surprised you even knew about all the programs you did"
I have talked to employment counselors, program coordinators, program advocates and case managers, volunteers, just about anyone. The bankruptcy is hindering my chances of securing housing, even if I had employment.
The icing on the cake has to be with food stamps and General Assistance. I qualified for Cal-Fresh. However, at the time I had a car worth $2200. So I wasn't able to get General Assistance. Fast Forward a year later, I HAD to sell my car to pay bills. Now this month when I went for General Assistance, I qualify.
It's a never ending cycle, a constant push down. I can take public transportation to work, but to get around and see my boys and being able to transport them would be extremely difficult, not to mention financially stressing. I have scoured employment books, read articles, searched the library, spent hours online trying to find a job, program, a company, anybody who could be a resource whether for low income assistance or employment.
I can probably tell you about a plethora of services this county (Santa Clara) offers for both income assistance and job services.I am registered with CALJOBS; I know all the career sites and have my resume there. I get interviews, however I am starting to think the bankruptcy from loss of business is holding me back when employers do background check.
I also could teach the business writing class or the resume writing classes they offer at Work2Future, I practically did when I took them. I could do the same at Sacred Heart. I've been to InnVision and EHC. Iâve talked to Sunnyvale Community Services. Boy he was a treat he sounded older then my 80 yr old grandma. When I said I need housing and employment help, he gruffly told me to check the newspaper and hung up. I've called St Josephs in Gilroy. I've talked to a program coordinator at West Valley Community Services. I called the Sobrato Organization hoping they had ties to something and one the employees just by grace of god happened to pick up and take my call. I was able to talk to someone at HIF (they couldn't help)
.
I am responsible, respectable and just want to work, have a place to live, and be able to have my children 50/50. I have no police record. I am not in recovery, nor have I ever had to be in a program
I want to work and am attaching a compilation of ALL my work skills. I would not send this out otherwise, I would tailor it specifically to the job I am applying for.
I used to volunteer as much as I could I like being active in my community and helping others. I'm still about that I believe in PAY IT FORWARD. I believe the good you do comes back to you tenfold and that no matter what is going wrong in your life, someone else is struggling just as much if not more; so be thankful for what you have.
I attend church and was a hospitality volunteer for that as well.
I just need help getting on my feet. I have no family, other than my children here in CA.
I do not want to move back east and be far away from them. I want to work, I want to live again. I want to smile and mean it.
I hate what my life has become and know that I am SO MUCH BETTER THEN THIS.
Please help me : money is fine, but it's only a temporary fix, please help me find a program that can assist me in getting on my feet, direct me to employment, and most of all afford me the opportunity to have my children much more consistently so I can be a mom again.
Thank you
Courtney DiMiceli

Getting back into work after serious illness
Posted by CarySerendipity on 2012-01-24 07:58:27
I now want to get back to my freelance work and during 2011 I continued helping out with a local community newspaper writing articles and taking photographs when I could. It was then I discovered that my hand writing had been affected by the stroke, but I'm getting there and my hand writing is getting better! I also found the quality of my photographs were also affected and not as good as before I had the stroke, they are not as clear and concise as they could be with a little digital camera I have. It has no anti shake. And yet my earlier photos are now attracting interest and people are now asking if I can be booked for taking photos for them. I'd love to do it and I'm just pleased that the community newspaper that I volunteer for have been supportive throughout. HOWEVER if I am going to add to my work experience and concentrate on my photography and writing I need to invest in some new photography equipment and a laptop to move onto new career challenges.
Effectively, after a year out I am starting out from the beginning again with being a Media Consultant and asking for help to achieve this. I have never asked for help before with my work, so hope that whoever is out there reading this can help towards achieving the camera equipment and laptop I need to progress into my photography sphere. I also plan to study at college a part-time photography course from September 2012. It'll last 3 years but it will be worth it and a qualification at the end of it. Just because I had a stroke does not mean the end. It just means adapting and getting the best out of life that I can. Anything is possible so don't write me off just yet!
Thank you for reading this true life whoever you may be.

Homeless needs help.

This is the organizations website - http://www.beatthestreetstexas.com/. This is where I am staying. I am using a house computer, I am selling my laptop to another housemate to raise a little money. It's the LAST SELLABLE item I had. I don't even have a fork or chair or anything. I know you read a lot of these articles begging for help, but I am speaking the truth. I have begged for help here in San Antonio and got one month's rent paid one time.
PLEASE, PLEASE Help. This is the response I send to the spammers:
Hello,
Thank you for spamming me. Here is my current situation:
1) I am a technically homeless person living in transitional housing. I owe, as of this writing, them $4700.
2) I have NO INCOME of any kind.
3) I have no bank accounts.
4) I have no credit cards.
5) I have one debit card with $0.24 ( Twenty-Four CENTS) on it.
What kind of help can I count on FROM YOU?
Thank You,
Terry Wilhelm
Again - What kind of help can I count on FROM YOU?
PS - I will testify in any court in the United States of America, under oath, that the above is my current situation.

I'm doing my best to change things, I'm starting my own little website since I can't afford more than 1 domain name at the moment. So...I'm NOT lazy, I'm passionate about work and the circumstances are suffocating.
Please help me by a small donation of your choice to bypass this month (bills) while I'm creating onloine streams of future income. WHOEVER helps me NOW when I'm in need - WILL BE rewarded, I'm willing to share my future success to say a big THANK YOU. I can write articles for you, or give away some of my future little commercial websites! Opportunities of my saying thanks are manifold. It's called good karma, you give and it'll return to you multiplied :)
I know there's a bright future for me, I only currently need your support so I don't face an eviction because of being late with bills for the last 2 months. :(
Please help me pull through and experience my genuine gratitude in the months to come.
THANKS
Help keeping us together as a family

my name is Beegee and I am hear today to tell you our sad little story. Our mom died when we were only three weeks old and only thanks to the good care of our (human mom), me and my siblings could grow up into the happy and well-cared-for cats that we are today (going on 15 healthy months next month). Even though our life wasn't very happy at the beginning, it all turned out well for us (and we got to staybut what came in the door two days ago might change this. We are living in Ireland and our mom has been told that we have to move out of our home in 3 months time. She has been trying ever since to find accomodation for all of us but unfortunately, the landlords here do not like cats as much as one should think. Therefore, our only chance of staying together as a family would be if mom could afford to buy a place for all of us. She has been speaking to the bank already but they don't want to help us because - I don't know why (mom is working after all). So me and my siblings figured that we needed to try and help mom to be able to afford a place for all of us. We know that it is her biggest wish to keep all of us together and it would probably break her heart if she couldn't. If anyone can help, please do so. Mom is quite good a writing different articles so if you have your own website and would like our mom to write for you in return for helping her raising the funds for our new home, we think she would be delighted to do so. PLEASE HELP US. If you wish to receive a photos from us in return for your favour, just email us Many thanks and kind meows in advance...

Cancer is destroying us

Part of the reason, and one of the reasons I am posting this, is that the bills and lay off's have put us in such a bad position finincially that unless she is in the hospital she is cooped up at home. She herself can not work, and the small SSI check ehs gets each month does little to help. We are on the verge of getting our utilities shut off, which will happen Friday unless a miracle happens. We also have no way of paying rent, and whike our landlord is working with us we simply have near zero funds for August.
We have been in this position numerous times over the last few years, but we always had family step in to help. They can not this time, so I am begging. I know this kind of thing seldom works, and usually results in scammers contacting you to feed off of your misery. But I am hoping that a fortunate angel see's this post and decides that my daughter and my family are worthy of a small break. Thus, I am begging for money online. Any amount helps, but the total we need to get through one more month is $1200.
Another reason I am doing this is I wish to take her on a short trip to bolster her spirits. It's in state and a place she loves, but as shown above, even that is out of reach.
More information and links to news articles done about my daughters illness are available upon request. I am more than willing to discuss the issue with anyone who contacts me. For those who wish to donate I have a paypal account in my name and a fundrazr account set up for Jenny's trip. I will provide either upon request.
And finally, the other reason I am here. I would like to request that anyone reading this, whether you are a blood sucking scammer, someone else looking for aid or an angel looking to donate, please pray for my little girl and my family. We long ago accepted that we would likely lose her to this damned desease, but it is very difficult to watch her wilt away as she is doing now. The finincial and emotional distress is killing us, and while I have never been a good Christian, I believe the energey generated by the power of good thought and goodwill can work miracles.

VERY URGENT: PLS HELP PAY MY SCHOOL FEES!
Posted by Harry on 2011-06-20 10:58:48
With my expertise in writing articles online, I have been working part-time online to support myself and pay the exorbitant fees. However, I find it hard to raise the above sum because the workload of the medical school is getting tougher and unbearable each year. I appeal to any well-meaning individual to kindly help pay my school fees and put my feet back on the ground, so I do not drop out of the medical school. Any assistance you render will be appreciated; I will forever look up to it as the relief that came in my time of dire need. Pls, help light the torch of hope in my path to be a life-saver too!
Need help so I can help others in Joplin
Posted by kcemt on 2011-06-01 12:58:56
After losing my job and the impact of the economy the last few years I have virtually lost everything I have. I currently have nothing, no car, no home (staying in a hotel) and soon no money. Instead of feeling sorry for myself and my situation I want go to Joplin and help those who have lost everything too. I lost mine over time they lost theirs in minuets. In Joplin the still standing hotels are sold out, the remaining people and volunteers are staying in tents in peoples yards. I did make contact with a lady who offered for me to camp in her yard, but I have no tent. So my purpose of being on here is just to ask some kind hearted people who may not have the option of going to Joplin on their own to help, to sponsor me to get there and get the few things I need so I can help the people who need it.
This is not a scam and am not using this disaster for personal gain through this site, and if anyone has done that or trying to do that just remember God and Karma will someday hold you accountable!! Please help me with my cause if you can:) Thank you. PS if I get enough people to sponsor me to go there, I will email them on a weekly basis of my progress there, as well as try to send photos of whats going on with the clean up. (emails will depend on available wifi connections)
Here is what I am needing : 45.00 for bus ticket Kansas City to Joplin (Jefferson Lines). 49.00 for a Tent, 40.00 for steel toed boots (from Walmart), 15.00 for leather gloves, 5.00 for safety glasses, 30.00 for a used hardhat. and any donations for the purchase of food while I am there you can offer.
There may be food available for volunteers but would rather go down there and not deplete any of their resources as some people have gone down to capitalize on others misfortunes according to some news articles I have seen.
These things are the bare bones I need in order to be able to do this. Since I am unemployed I have the time to go and help, I just don't have the above resources and you can help me so I can help others. Thank you for your time in reading about my cause. Please Donate thanks :)
Need Help With Electric Bill-You Do Not Have to Send Money
Posted by Lulu13903 on 2011-05-21 08:58:46
Here is what happened. We were on budget billing where we paid a set amount-based on an average of the payments we make through the year. Every few months NYSEG checks things over and if the actual amounts are lower that what we pay, we get the surplus. Then, if the actual amounts are more we have to pay the difference. This is what happened to us. Since we had to pay to get the car fixed, we were behind in the electric payment. I did, pay the $250 a week ago. But NYSEG canceled our budget billing account.
If we don't pay the $589, then it will get shut off. However, if we get it paid off, we can get back on the budget billing plan. I plan to have NYSEG automatically take the money right out of my checking account each month. That way we don't have to worry about a missed payment. I already talked this over with my husband. I already have my car insurance taken out the third week of the month. So NYSEG would take their payment in the last week of the month. I am planning to do this with our cable bill. That leaves me with one week of the month for my car payment. My husband would be responsible for the mortgage. That will leave us with plenty of money to save for emergencies-such as future car repairs.
Before I can even start this, I am going to need the $589 by the 31 of May. While we can pay this, it will put us behind on the cable bill and the mortgage. And I don't want that to happen.
I am including my paypal below if you want to make a cash donation-59 people paying $10 will get this paid off.
But you don't have to make a cash donation. Many people just cannot afford to do so. Plus many people feel uncomfortable giving money to a complete stranger. But you can help out by clicking the link below:

This site pays me whenever somebody reads on of my articles-I do some free lance writing on a variety of topics, such as business, health and wellness and sports. I also write some fiction.
If I get 3,000 people to read (or skim) each of my articles, I will have more than enough money for the electric bill.

As the name says this is the blog where I am putting my short stories and poems. I am planning to have another blog for my novels. I have two fantasy novels that i want to share. I don't understand how google does the payments for blogspot, but I am sure that if 3,000 people read my stories and poems, I would at least get something. Even if I don't make money with blogspot, this is my thank you gift for helping me out.

Need a Career Change

and it is only worse with this recession. Also, my career demands that I spend much time of my life being lonely and isolated in rural areas. I really need to be around more people in my life. Now I want to start a new career writing travel articles. Also, I am willing to volunteer for social charities overseas and to teach English as a second language. I am traveling overseas because I think that there is more opportunities for careers that are related to my academic degree in anthropology and religious studies, and I also don't feel the social stigmatism of being a financially poor and single man in his forties that I do in the USA. Also, I owe the US government around $30,000 for student loans. I need a job or at least a financial safety net so that I don't go broke overseas. I can live on as little as $1000 a month.
So please help with whatever you can while I am making this career change. I can keep you informed about my whereabouts and activities.
I have aspergers, a mild form of autism that causes me to be socially challenged when trying to relate to people and open doors for career opportunities.
I have no wife and family with children, and am now in my early forties.
Perhaps I can start a new life if I can manage a successful career change.

And then... it got worse.
I provided my full name and location here. Go ahead and google me. There were 612 news articles about it last time I checked. I met an amazing woman and fell head over heels in love with her. Things started to look up. We combined household and expenses and resources and we became a team. I had my best friend in the world to come home to every night and a light at the end of the tunnel for getting to a survivable place as far as bills. I planned to make her my wife. Then on June 4th, with a ring in my pocket, minutes away from reaching the place I hoped to propose, she was struck by lightning. You can read the tribute to her which I maintain at bethanybutler.wordpress.com. I have not solicited money there because it is a place to honor her. But as it is now I have to do it somewhere. Our dog needs to go to the vet, I need flea medicine, I'm tired of ramen noodles, my utilities are 2 months late, my house is in danger of being forclosed on, and the new job I started has given me a total of 5 and a half hours next week. I NEED A HAND just to get to a stable point. I just want the chance to start at zero, but I don't see how to get there. I'm so tired of trying to play catch up. I feel like I am drowning. PLEASE... I hate asking this but I am in a lot of trouble here. Please... anything you can do to help would be so greatly appreciated. I don't even have an account anymore to set up paypal so I'm flying blind here. I don't even know how this is going to work. I guess you can email me at rabutler77@comcast.net. Thank you.

My name is Ren. I need $2000 to be able to afford the rest of my tuition for next semester. I hate to sound petty, but I also need about $100 for a couple of new articles of clothing. I have been wearing the same four pairs of jeans for the past three years, and they're finally beginning to tear. I also have yet to find a job, so if I could earn the money it would be great. So, if anyone can help me to raise these funds before the end of this month, I will be forever grateful. I plan to help others in my career (assuming that I graduate), but right now I just need a little help from someone else. May those that help receive that which they gave one hundred fold.
You can contact me at Ren_A@mail.com.
