I am a married 59 year old disabled man. My wife is also disabled. I paid into Social Security and Federal taxes for 34 years and served my country during the Iran Hostage crisis. While getting my 50 year physical exam my bloodwork and a biospy ended up putting me through 2 chemos for my liver. Even though I wasn't cured we seemed to have stopped the progression of the disease. While going through this living hell our government would not approve my Social Security disability until I was completely penniless. My claim was finally approved after 2 years with no income or money. The judge who approved my claim was appalled that the SS Administration waited so long to approve someone over 55 with a 34 year work history. I was found 100% disabled due to a condition that ends in death. It's pretty obvious they were waiting to see if I would die! Now I do have some income which I am thankful for but it doesn't cover all my expenses. If all I had was general bills like gas, water, electric, car ins. and food I could make ends meet. I am struggling to pay my property tax. I own my home which my father built after WWII. My property tax is billed every 6 months and is over $1000.00 semi-anually my monthly check is only $1300.00 which barely covers the regular bills. Right now I am barely staying ahead of the threats to sell my home for back taxes. I applied for the Homestead Act property tax exemption for seniors and the disabled where they can deduct up to $25000.00 from the value of your home and tax that amount. The average person in my state saves $400.00 a year on this program according to their website. When my tax bill came this exemption only reduced my taxes by $164.00 a year. That's only $82.00 from each semi-annual government extortion. First I was forced to exhaust my life savings before they would approve my disability now this. I must figure a way to supplement my income. I have paid my dues and shouldn't have to struggle and deal with such heavy stress at this stage of my life. These are supposed to be pleasant years when you've lived right. Please, HELP!

About Me/My Situation:

Started a small computer service business in 2006 after being laid off from my regular job after 6 years. Managed to stay afloat until mid summer 2010 when I lost the contracts that provided 90% or more of my business and I had no money to go out on my own and obtain new contracts or more new customers. I was owed some money for work performed ( about $7,000) I will not be seeing any of that money.

After a while I started selling my possessions and items that my family had given me to sell, mostly accumulated junk like computer parts, beer steins that I had collected and other things at a weekly flea market, I cut down all my bills as much as I could. I looked for jobs for months. I borrow way too much money from my family as they could not really afford to lend it to me but they did. My parents and my brother also loaned me their cars when after i had to turn in my company owned vehicle leaving me without a mode of transportation. After a couple months of borrow cars I used whatever money I had managed to save and some money from an insurance claim to pick up a 15 year old vehicle for myself.

In November 2010 I obtained a full time tech job and a part time counter help job at the local movie theater. Even with two jobs I was still making much less that I use to and much less than I needed to pay my bills.

Finally I ended up filing for bankruptcy, "unofficially" close my business (turn in business vehicle leaving me without a vehicle) and recently just had most of my debts discharged, BUT I still need to catch up on a couple thing that the bankruptcy would not cover.

What I need:

1. Need to catch up on my condo fees --- about $1,000
2. My property taxes are about 2 years behind ---- $1,800
3. My heat, hot water and electric bills are past due --- $500

Simple math, right?

For reasons that remain personal, I am ineligible for financial aid (no, I am not an undocumented immigrant if that's what you were thinking), leaving my parents to pay for the entirety of my college education. But as you can tell, the cost of attending my college is about 1.6x my family's annual income.

Kind of a big problem.

I'm ineligible for pretty much every sort of financial aid, including loans (no rich co-signer). I'm entering every scholarship competition I can, but even those aren't easy to win. I'm also doing my best to keep grades up to be eligible for merit scholarships.

hello. im anthony and am in a rough, bad, scared, lost, just horrible situation. I seem to be the black sheep in my family. I have a wonderful family. I graduated High School in 2002. Moved from indiana to california to go to college at UC riverside. California just wasnt for me. So moved back to indiana and went to Ancilla college. I was going to school on a Golf Scholarship. I worked at the local Country Club for many years. Golf was my life. I spent so much time on the Golf Course it kinda seperated me from my family. Well my parents were earning a very decent annual salary working in the RV motorhome business here in Elkhart Ind. Well when the econonmy took a dive my mother lost her job. So she is now working 3 jobs as a waitress. My dad still is employed but the household relationship has taken a huge hit! About 5 years ago I was giving a chance to "GRIP" on a film set (Set Lighting). I loved it! so I decdied to take a chance in the business. Well its becoming a issue! I love what I do but hate the style of my life! I have traveled over 300,000 miles in 5 years. Living outta dufflebags, vans, hotels, closets, etc! I am now back in Indiana for the recent holidays and have broken down and googled "how to get finacial help" and Im going to fill out a "Beg" on all the websites.
